Chapter 5: Rare Material Drop! City Shrouded in Spider Shadows

The sound of shattering glass echoed as countless shards scattered. A twisted monster burst into the room!

Its horrifying single eye fixed on Lu Yu, standing at the doorway. In a hoarse voice, it declared:

“Tremble in fear! Wail in despair! This is the vast gulf between lowly humans and superior beings. You will be chewed, crushed, and consumed—becoming part of me. Consider it an honor…”

The spider monster’s gaze never left Lu Yu, eager to see terror on his face. Toying with prey gave it endless delight!

But to its disappointment, Lu Yu’s expression remained calm. He merely frowned impatiently and said:

“Finished talking? You’ve turned into an ugly spider and still brag this much. Put a propeller on your head, and you’d probably fly into space!”

Lu Yu’s tone was indifferent, yet his disdain was crystal clear, provoking the monster’s fury.

“Insolent human! How dare you spew such arrogance? I’ll tear you apart and devour you piece by piece!”

With that, the spider monster lunged forward, its eight legs twisting grotesquely as its gaping maw aimed for Lu Yu’s head!

“Looks like being infected made you more beast-like. I wonder if the dark gods’ minions are the same…”

Lu Yu commented casually as he slowly raised his arm. A terrifying heat radiated from his palm.

“Hellfire Whip!”

At his command, black flames emerged and swiftly formed a long whip in his hand. Though the whip burned with lethal intensity, it lay docilely in his grip like a tame cat.

“Interesting!”

Lu Yu chuckled and cracked the whip with a powerful flick of his wrist.

Snap!

The whip lashed out like a black blade, slashing through the air. Before the spider monster could react, the burning whip struck its twisted body, cleaving it in half!@@novelbin@@

The creature’s torso shattered, smashing against the wall. Its dark green blood oozed out but was immediately ignited by the hellfire, leaving no stains on the floor.

The infernal flames corroded and burned, consuming every trace of life.

Even as its lower body lay severed, the spider monster’s remaining half widened its eye in disbelief and gasped:

“Awakened…!”

Before it could finish its sentence, its head was engulfed in dark flames. It shriveled instantly, turning into a pile of ash scattered on the floor.

“Hellfire sure is handy—auto-cleanup included! Perfect for killing and burning.”

Lu Yu stroked his chin, quite satisfied with the skill. He had also activated the Absorption Halo just moments before.

A blood-red halo surrounded him, surging with strange energy. As the spider monster perished, life essence flowed into his body, replenishing his energy.

The excess power even strengthened his physique, like leveling up in a game.

“My strength increased a bit. Is this trying to tempt me toward a path of devouring like a slaughter god?”

Lu Yu clenched his fist, feeling subtle changes within. The Absorption Halo was indeed a divine skill!

While he didn’t mind absorbing enemies’ life force, blindly pursuing power through carnage would corrupt his mind. He aimed to control power, not be controlled by it!

Approaching the spider monster’s corpse, Lu Yu extended his hand and whispered:

A white glow enveloped the remains, extracting a gleaming white orb.

Now, those spider monsters were no longer threats—they were walking treasure chests!

Suddenly, eerie crawling sounds echoed from outside, mingling with distant human screams.

Lu Yu approached the window and beheld a chilling sight:

The once-bustling city was shrouded in dark smoke. Skyscrapers were webbed together with thick white silk as twisted spider monsters crawled across the threads.

“Help me! I don’t want to die! Please spare me—I have a family!”

A spider monster clutched a middle-aged man in a suit and hurled him into a giant web strung between two buildings.

“No! What is this? Why are there such massive spiders in the city? Where are the special forces? Someone save me!”

The man struggled in vain as the sticky web held him fast. His terrified cries pierced the dark, hopeless night.
