"The sowing seems to be going well."
This musty fortress ruin was once used by the Kingdom of Sailand during the war with neighboring country . In such a place, we were reporting our progress to each other. To ensure the plan's execution, an on-site survey, including the terrain, is absolutely essential.
The plan is quite large-scale. In addition to the preliminary on-site survey, sowing the seeds is indispensable. However, sowing seeds doesn't mean scattering them randomly.
For the seeds to bloom and sprout, they need solid soil. Finding that soil was quite difficult, but it seems our comrade, who had been lying low in this country for years, managed to do it. That comrade has now returned to the fortress.
"Comrade Klantz, you've done well."
"Yeah, it took a while. But thanks to that, I found some good soil."
Comrade Klantz had been searching for soil all over Sailand. Gathering information to find the right soil for the seeds must have been quite a struggle. Comrade Klantz exhaled and relaxed.
"So, the seeds have been sown?"
"Yeah, dealing with students' children is easy. With a little research, you can find plenty of vulnerabilities in their hearts."
"With your demonic abilities, it must have been easy, right?"
"One is the son of a duke, another is a girl with magical deficiency, and the last is the son of a troupe member. Don't be surprised when you hear this—all three have formed contracts with one of the Thirty-Two Pillars of the Demon Realm."
I couldn't believe my ears at what Comrade Klantz had just said. Those beings surpass even our contracted demons and magical beasts. The Thirty-Two Pillars of the Demon Realm. Their existence is recorded in grimoires and children's picture books, and many doubt they are real.
Just like the ancient Eldian emperor, historical figures called conquerors always possess inhuman powers. The Thirty-Two Pillars are said to rival the Eldian emperor's demonic sword. Delving deeper into history, heroes who rebelled against the Eldian Empire had one of the Thirty-Two Pillars under their command.
This is a little-known fact. That's why, to me, the Thirty-Two Pillars are far more terrifying than any demonic sword.
"...If that's true, then it's as good as a victory already!"
"Yeah, once they're ready, we can execute the operation. By the way, where's Comrade Amth?"
"He seemed to have sensed some rats. He should be back soon."
Comrade Amth's range of magical perception is extraordinary. It shouldn't be a problem for him to sniff out the rats—Wait, is that Amth? He's staggering back?
"Comrade Amth, that was quick. What about the rats?"
Amth collapsed forward. Behind him stood three figures—one a well-built warrior-like man, another a boy, and the last a young girl. What the hell are these guys?
"...Did they really take down Comrade Amth?"
"Seems like he reached his limit."@@novelbin@@
Looking at Amth lying on the ground, it was clear his magical power was completely drained. Did these two really force Amth to exhaust all his magic? Unbelievable.
"So, you managed to sniff us out, huh?"
"No more sneaking around. Come on, show us what you've got."
The man raised his greatsword. His fighting style is so outdated it's almost embarrassing. Did Amth really get taken down by a primitive like him?
" Vaide , let me take one of them."
"You take the guy on the right. I want to see what the middle guy can do."
"You always take the best one for yourself. Well, it's your mission, so I won't complain."
What the hell are these guys? Are they looking down on us? On us?
No, Comrade Amth was taken down. We can't afford to be careless.
The boy next to him is no ordinary person either, but something feels off. My magical perception can't pick up his magic power. There's a black haze around him, and trying to sense him feels like staring into pitch-black darkness. As if he saw through me, the boy smirked arrogantly.
On the other hand, the man over there doesn't have much to fear in terms of magic power. It's not low, but it's average. So, should I be wary of the boy instead?
"Come on, show us what you've got!"
"You're really getting on my nerves, you primitive barbarians!"
No holding back now. Comrade Klantz faded out of sight, while Comrade Ihart and I activated our magic circles. Comrade Klantz's contracted demon is the Phantom Spirit. Its ability is to make itself invisible.
This means Comrade Klantz's magic presence also disappears, making him undetectable. He's used this to stay hidden in Sailand for years, infiltrating all sorts of places to gather information and find talented summoners.
And what we're using is also summoning magic. What I unleashed was a swarm of tentacles—the power of my contracted demon, the Demon Flower Diabaran. Comrade Ihart summoned the Flame Beast Epsilon, releasing countless beasts that burn any living thing to ash.
"Ugh! That's similar to the magic from earlier...!"
No wonder they're surprised. This is our country's latest magical technology, not yet known to other nations. Summoning magic allows us to directly unleash the power of our contracted demons. This sets us apart from traditional summoners who only use their contracted demons' abilities.
We can manifest all the powers of our contracted demons through summoning. By outputting the demon's power at high speed, we can use their abilities more efficiently. Moreover, it minimizes the user's magical consumption.
In other words, we won't run out of magic! This completely overcomes the weaknesses of traditional mages—Wait, then why did Amth's magic run out?
"Magnificent!"
The man named Vaide's voice echoed through the fortress, causing small debris to fall from the aged ceiling. At Vaid's feet were the shredded remains of Diabaran's tentacles. When did that happen?
"Another impressive display. That's summoning, but not quite summoning. At least, the summoning magic I remember doesn't have any notable features beyond being able to use the contracted demon's abilities. Maybe a boost in physical abilities depending on the demon. Summoning is powerful, but its drawback is that it can't exceed the user's limits. But your summoning magic is as if you've become one with your contracted demon. This is endlessly fascinating. Miley would be thrilled to hear about this. Blah blah blah..."
What a fast talker! What the hell is this guy? No, more importantly, how did a man with such little magic power pull that off? Is there something special about that greatsword?
"Vaide , thanks for bringing me along. These are decent opponents."
As for the boy, the last of the flame beasts was being absorbed into some kind of black void. Is that dark magic? No, the dark magic I know can't be used in such a forward combat style. Comrade Ihart is even more shocked than I am.
"My Hell Beast Rush...!"
"So, it seems I can handle the Flame Beast Epsilon now."
"You know about my contracted beast...?"
Who are these guys? Why are we being handled so easily? No, stay calm. Comrade Klantz should be able to take them down without them noticing. He can approach without being seen, sensed, or detected.
"This is also magnificent!"
"Ugh!?"
Vaide grabbed the air, and Klantz's figure began to appear. Klantz's neck was tightly gripped, completely immobilizing him.
"Comrade Klantz! Overpower him with magic enhancement! That guy doesn't have much magic enhancement!"
"I'm... trying... He's not budging...!"
Comrade Klantz, with his magic-enhanced strength, was completely restrained by Vaid. Meanwhile, Comrade Ihart was being sliced apart by the boy.
What do you think?
