When I stepped outside the shrine, I was met with a larger number of monsters than I had anticipated.
At a glance, there were at least 20 of them. Could this be all the monsters Gyllium had at his disposal?
Most of them were demonic or beast-type monsters, the kind that usually appear after you’ve gotten past the early stages of the game.
Gyllium is only 10 years old, but for his age, he’s managed to gather some pretty strong monsters. As expected of the second son of the Balfont family, even if they’ve fallen from grace.
Still, does he really have to go this far? Does he dislike me that much?
"Gegege! He’s come out, he’s come out! The brat who dares to defy Lord Gyllium!"
"Hey! I’m taking that Lushiel girl for myself! I wanna hear that cocky angel scream up close!"
All of these monsters had been tamed and brought under Gyllium’s control. They were completely loyal to him, heart and soul. Thinking about it, the system in RPGs where you can recruit monsters as allies is pretty brutal when you consider the implications.
Lushiel, though her mind wasn’t fully controlled, was basically in a state where she couldn’t defy Gyllium. Otherwise, she could’ve just run away whenever she wanted.
"So, Gyllium ordered you guys to kill us, huh?"
"Lord Gyllium said he really can’t stand you. Don’t take it personally, alright?"
The monsters laughed with confidence. Well, I guess it’s understandable that they wouldn’t realize the difference in strength, given that they’re just early-game mobs.
"Hey, what’s that sword the kid’s holding? It’s different from the one Lord Gyllium has."
"Probably nothing special. It’s a lame gift for Lord Gyllium, but whatever."
They really have no idea what they’re talking about. These low-level monsters wouldn’t know the value of a demonic sword even if it hit them in the face.
"Alphiss-sama , leave this to me. I’ll shoot an arrow right through that ugly pig demon’s skull."
"Wait, I’ll join in. I’ve been wanting to test out this demonic sword."
Lushiel has grown a lot stronger and more confident compared to two months ago. With her natural talent, she’s improved rapidly. Honestly, she might just wipe them all out by himself.
"Hey!Lushiel ! What did you just say? What did you say to me?!"
"Are you deaf as well as ugly? I called you an ugly pig demon, you idiot!"
"You little—! I’m gonna smash you to pieces and present you to Lord Gyllium!"
The pig demon, a Devil Orc, charged at us. Devil Orcs are pretty tough and annoying to deal with. They’re durable and can use attack magic, so they’re usually a pain to fight when you first encounter them. That is, if you’re the protagonist.
"Lightning Arrow!"
"Bughoo!"
Lushiell’s arrow of light pierced through the Devil Orc’s head. Since light is its weakness, it’s no surprise it died instantly. The other monsters were stunned as they watched the Devil Orc collapse.
"L-Lushiel… No way! Gyaah!"
"If you’re gonna talk about running away, you should’ve done it earlier, you trash."
Lushieldidn’t waste any time. She immediately took down another monster while they were still in shock. Being able to fly freely with his wings and snipe enemies from above is a huge advantage. It’s something even I don’t have.
"Damn it! Shoot her down with magic!"
"Hey, hey, don’t forget about me."
"Gah…!"
I swung the demonic sword, and the monster in front of me vanished into the darkness as if it had been erased. The lack of resistance when cutting through them is almost scary.
As I was marveling at the sword, something started to emerge from it.
"How does it feel to wield me?"
"It’s so strong that it’s hard to believe. It feels too natural in my hand."
The one who appeared was the demon god residing within Dispareid, the sword. She had black hair, beast ears, and wore a kimono. She usually spoke in a haughty, dignified manner, but in battle, despite her appearance, she was ridiculously strong.
"That’s good to hear. It seems you and I are more compatible than I imagined. By the way, do you have any complaints?"
"Just that you’re distracting me. Can you go back inside?"
"How cold. Just so you know, my power is far greater than this. I’m only holding back to match your current strength. Don’t forget that."
"I know."
The sword is quite talkative, but its power is undeniable. The surging dark magic empowers me. Its effect is to dramatically enhance the power of dark attribute attacks.
Back when I was playing the game, I had a vague thought that this sword would be perfect for Alphiss. I never imagined it would come true like this. It’s like a dream.
"Hey! They’re killing us one by one! We can’t win! Run—!"
"No need to rush. Curse."
I cast a dark magic curse on the monster trying to flee. The curse had various effects, but this time it seemed to paralyze the monster, leaving it unable to move.
"I-I can’t… move…!"
"How does it feel to be on the receiving end of my new spell? You’re the perfect test subject."
"Perfect… test subject…?"
"Consider this a gift for Gyllium. Even that idiot will understand once he sees your ugly head."
"Eek! P-please, no! I’m sorry! I’m—!"
I severed its head and let it roll to the ground.
"This is bad! We’re gonna die—!"
"I didn’t sign up for this!"
"Lord Gyllium—!"
As the monsters started to scatter, I began my pursuit. I unleashed the full power of the dark magic and swung the sword.
"Gahaa!"
"Ugh…!"
"Too… strong…"
The monsters were cleaved in two by the demonic sword. The difference in power compared to before I had the sword was staggering. I can see why some people would become intoxicated by the sword’s power.
"No way! How can a mere human—!"
"Who are you calling ‘mere’—?!"
Lushielswooped down from above, piercing through the monsters one after another. It seems he has no intention of letting even one escape.
"How dare you call Alphiss-sama ‘mere’! I can’t forgive that! What do you mean, ‘mere’?!"
"Hey, Lushiel . Take it easy."
"What do you mean, ‘mere’?! You idiots! Trash!"
"…She ’s not listening, is she?"
This is terrifying. Has she already shown her true colors? Without even listening to their pleas for mercy, Lushiel continued to shoot down every last monster.
"L-!Lushiel I was wrong! I’ll serve under you, so please—!"
"Did you say something—?"
Lushiel delivered the final blow to the last monster. Her wings fluttered as she soared into the sky, making him look more like a demon than an angel.@@novelbin@@
Hmm, I really did pick up something incredible.
What do you think?
