Infinite Evolution: My Idle Evolution System

Chapter 356 356: Main Quest #6

"Dang," Cassius wooed. "Like a super farmer."

The other four Origin Farmers did the same thing within the same timeframe. Afterward, all five of them reached into the bags hanging by their waists. Slightly glowing seeds were taken out. The first seed of the first farmer was thrown into the ground, and, looking like a blurry speedster, that same farmer buried the seed and then covered it.

He went on to repeat that process dozens of times.

The other four Origin Farmers did something extremely similar, and with all of them appearing identical, Cassius started tripping out. Watching them move at the same time and with the same motions made him feel like he had been drinking.

After finishing the planting of the seeds, the five Origin Farmers intently stared at their tilled plots of land.

It was as if they were threatening the seeds to grow and sprout…

And whether what they were doing actually worked or not, the Unity Seeds did indeed sprout. They grew out of the rich soil, taking on the shapes of multi-leafed vines.

A few seconds later, those vines had tiny yellow fruits growing off of them.

Once a full half-minute passed, the Tier 1 Unity Crops reached maturity. They could now be freely picked, which was exactly what the Origin Farmers did as they summoned large baskets out of nowhere before going around and plucking the vegetables off their stems.

Unfortunately, the vine-plants shriveled up and died right after all the vegetables on them were picked off. But the soil still remained rich—rich enough to plant a few more cycles of whatever the Farmers were planting.

After collecting all of the yellow vegetables—which numbered in the hundreds—the five Origin Farmers carried their magical baskets over to Cassius. He had commanded them to do it this way this one time from inside the Origin Map.

Taking a yellow vegetable from the basket, Cassius closely observed it before taking a bite out of it. Then he took another. And another. And another.

He didn't feel any different after swallowing it whole, but then he felt a weird energy course through him, improving his control and upper power limit ever so slightly.

[Devoured Tier 1 Unity Food 'Eight-lined Tropica']

[Obtained 0.01 Unity!]

"These things give this much Unity??"

[For now they do, but as with most things in the universe, the consumption of Unity Foods involves diminishing returns. Eventually—after eating enough—they won't give even the tiniest amount of Unity.]

[At that point, you'll want to have your Origin Units devour, barter, or trade the useless Origin Foods. And yes, before you ask, they evolve by eating Origin Foods. However, what's Unity for you is something akin to spiritual energy for them. It nourishes them, doing so in a way much unlike with you obtaining Unity.]

"I see…"

After digesting all the revealed information, Cassius bought a dozen or so more Origin Farmers. And making use of all available space, he had them till their plots of land and begin the process of endlessly farming.

CHOMP!

With the extension of a black toothy monster-head out of his right arm, he devoured all of the Tier 1 Tropica that the original batch of Farmers had given to him. He then used intent to leave the Originverse, all while listening to the System Notifications:

*Ding!*

[Devoured 287 Tier 1 Unity Food 'Eight-lined Tropica']

[Obtained 0.21 Unity!]

'The System wasn't lying about those diminishing returns…'

Suddenly remembering something on his way out, Cassius asked, "About the time difference between the outside world and the Originverse—"

[1:1]

Bummer!

But it was what it was.

FWIP!

Returning to the outside world, Cassius determined that not even a couple of minutes had passed. A very brief period of time during which he had sat still with his eyes closed, arousing not a single bit of suspicion from those riding on Raijin with him.

Yimin, however, had taken advantage of this situation. She could be seen laying back-to-back with her Master, adorably giggling and mumbling in her sleep.

Cassius paid her no heed; he reopened his System Interface. His eyes fell on the Originverse section, where he saw constant changes in the actions of the Origin Units. He had instructed them to absorb any and all dropped Attribute Orbs, which was likely why the durations for their task completions were deviating from one another.

In the midst of his grinning session, a different kind of pop-up blinded Cassius. One that molded his grin into a deep frown:

*Ding!*

Amazing!

Main Quest #6 was so extremely lucrative!

But there was just one problem…

"Just how long is it going to take me to do something as suicidal as facing the three most powerful Demon Kings of HELL…?"

[Answer: as long as it takes! Fufu~]

Cassius's nose crinkled. "I figured as much. Haiz…"

He wasn't averse to the passing of time, but ten years was a bit much even for him—someone who was used to progressing crazily fast.

"Maybe it won't take so long…"

He was holding out on that glimmer of hope. No matter how small it was…

WHOOOM!

Suddenly breaking through the final Dimensional Barrier leading to the 1st Floor of the Land of Monsters Dimension, Cassius had Raijin undulate to a mountain peak. It was there that he pulled out a sword-like key with sharp edges.

A Humanity Key of Dimensional Travel.

He had stolen it a while back from a Human Guardian or something, and had since used it to travel to the Humanity Tower.
