Chapter 1135 A friend of waters
[Eon's POV: ]
[{ "She came, right?" }]
"Seems to be the case."
Zoe, Rein, and I were the only ones present here right now since the place was small already. There was not much space here, and everyone did not have to see this directly.
[{ "Ohh~. We can't see her from here. How does she look~? Tell me, big brother~." }]
This was the moment of birth for an oceanoid, a being that resonated with the waters of all around the world naturally and on a scale unimaginable to us mortals.
These creatures, practically the descendants of the beings that were born at the start of everything, those who originated from the waters before anything else, were not common in this world or any other world.
'There was a certain fanatic that deeply studied these creatures a few thousand years ago. That person studied them for over a hundred years as well, and from the book that he wrote about them, one of the few lost texts of old history, I know quite a bit about these creatures.'
When they are born, they explode with a bright light and announce their birth to the entire world. At the same time, all the waters around them at that point in time froze still, just like how it was happening around us right now.
"When she comes, watch her closely, Anna. Look at what she does and try understanding anything you find interesting."
Right after they announce their presence to the world, their mothers, the caregivers that have nourished and nurtured them all this time, give them a certain name that is similar to their birth name.
'A familiar bond is formed when one meets their soulmate. But, since Quin and her unborn familiar had a unique relationship, we cannot say they had bonded completely.'
She gave her a name, lived with her, talked with her, fed her, and took care of her like a friend, not a mother but a friend.
They were fine, they were happy, they were more than master and a servant. The familiar used to be more dominant and arrogant, looking down on its master and the people around its master, but then they grew closer.
They were more than a master and a servant by the time we arrived here, and even as she was being born, she gave the one honor that only a mother of their kind has, to the person that she was going to be with from now on.
"It's beautiful…"
The whole area around us on the island had fallen still. The water was not moving, as if the time had stopped, even the winds had stopped.
No movements aside from the movement of the light coming from the front could be perceived. Time had stopped right now, but there was still one thing that one could notice in the middle of this bright light shower— Quin.
"Sister Quin looks happy, big brother."
"She is happy. Don't you see that smile? I remember she smiled like this when I first made her the dish her late grandfather used to make."
The light in the front was bright, but all three of us could see her perfectly… she was smiling right now. There was a unique kind of happiness on her face that one could not describe with simple words.
'She practically took care of them for almost a year.'
She looked after the egg, she shared her energy with it, and after all that, she talked with the unborn creature so that it did not feel lonely.
After living on that empty island after her grandfather's departure, she knew what loneliness was. She knew what it felt like to not receive what you give.
Even I know how it feels to be left in a place where you're only surrounded by unknown and dangerous things. It's not good, it's just painful at the end of the day.
'But Quin took care of her.'
We helped her a little, yes, but it was her efforts that brought her closer to her partner. If she had not done all that, even our help would have meant nothing to them and their current bond.
"When an oceanic is born, they send a unique mental signal throughout all the waters of the world.
The signal covers the entire world, all the places which have water, even the other realm, and it even passes through the very elemental spirits the signal only ends when it meets the true end of the ocean… the elemental spirit queen of water."
She was here. The being Quin had just named [Q] was here.
A body that might resemble an intermediate water spirit, an ethereal presence that one cannot describe with words, she was strong, but she did not possess any physical powers.
She was closer to a spiritual creature than a physical one.
The Mana presence that she had was also strong. There was a strong elemental presence to the creature and the moment the creature finished taking its form, it seemed like the time was resumed once more.
The winds started flowing once again, the waves were also back and the island seemed more lively for some reason.
Rein looked around the place, and nothing really had changed from before. Everything was pretty much the same, except the creature that now stood above them… or was floating above them.
It was small compared to Taika's cat form, it was bigger than Uto's small form, and it was made of water so it was naturally cool.
'I could feel the cool breeze that passed through the creature even from this distance…'
She hugged the being… her familiar with great warmth, and while it was a simple scene, for us who had been waiting for this for a long, long time, this scene was more blissful than one could understand.@@novelbin@@
"They look good together." Zoe critiqued in a simple tone. She was not saying they looked especially unique or anything, or anything like they were made for each other, but simply put… she loved this duo.
Rein had been trying to analyze the two of them. She was trying to see something with the power of her eyes and find out something she normally could not.

'She might find the strings connecting Quin and the creature, she might find something like the creature's connection with the waters, or something else.'
She was looking for something. And, from the looks of it, she did find something unique…
"Her affinity for water increased just now."
It was a subtle change, but she could see it.
If Quin could summon an advanced water element spirit before, she now had the ability to summon three of them together, and we are talking about beings that hold high ranks within this society.
"I… I think her physical and mental body structure changed a little as well."
Awakening and bringing her familiar with her, talking with her, sharing her experiences, getting her help, asking her to spy on us through the waters, getting her help with various things… all this time had been fun for her. She had a friend to talk with until now, and now she could be with that friend completely.
"She just became friends with water, after all." In the ancient legend that I read, there are mentions of the people who used to live with the guardians of the Ocean.
These people were sworn brethren of these beings. Each one of the newborn oceanoid was named by a chosen child among these guardians.
The child and the oceanoids then spent their lives together, helping one another as one entity, believing and trusting each other even more than their blood relatives.
After bonding with the young Ocenoid children, they were named [Friends of waters] or [Niranmitra] in their language, people who possessed an affinity with waters like no human or other aquatic race did.'
This affinity of theirs was not simply limited to the element of water. It extended far beyond that and gave them a peculiar power to control the water bodies that only those blessed by the gods of particular water bodies could possess.
'Quin has gained a power unique to those who are blessed with such powers.'
But she wouldn't really care about all those things.
All she wanted was to be happy and keep the people around her well. She wanted to be the helpful one, she wanted to be the person who'd become the ladder for the others, and with the help of her new friend, she knew that was even more possible.
"Quinny?" Rein was worried about her at first, but then she accepted the fact that our friend was not some miserable, codependent, child.
Quin was a responsible young adult who had taken care of that egg all by herself. She managed herself, her studies, and everything around her.
"Oh. I didn't see you all." She looked happy right now. And personally, that's all that matters.
"It's fine, it's fine. You should introduce Your familiar to us though, don't you think?" Zoe was looking at the ethereal water creature that resembled a Manta ray with great interest.
Rein, on the other hand, was still busy figuring out the connections these two had forged, as well as the changes Quin.
I, on the other hand, was more interested in the familiar mark that Quin had, one that had just changed slightly. And, of course, I was even more interested in seeing how much Anna was able to see.
{ "Mortals, there is no need for my Quinny to introduce me. You all know me already, however, this noble one shall introduce oneself once more." }
She had just come out of her egg, and yet she possessed a deep, wise voice that only the beings who had lived for much longer would have.
'They are definitely some of the most fascinating creatures in the world.'
Even Master used to talk about a friend she had, an oceanoid possessing divinity.
'I wonder if Q's mom is the same person grandma used to talk about…'
What do you think?
