Chapter 613: Chapter 613: Kettle_1
Knox Ridge’s older brother, Darnell Ridge, was nothing but a ruffian who was always loafing around and never doing anything worthwhile.
While Damien Leopold was the daughter of a small capitalist.
These two people, with completely different statuses, came together solely because Damien Leopold had been dumped by her former boyfriend at the time Darnell Ridge appeared.
And she was pregnant with a child.
She needed someone to take the fall, and Darnell Ridge was well aware of it.
As long as the Leopold Family gave him money to spend and he could freeload off a wife, why wouldn’t he be happy?
As for the son?
No one knew he wasn’t his own.
Although many people had their doubts when Cooper Ridge grew up, as he didn’t resemble his supposed father at all.
But since Damien Leopold was pretty, everyone naturally assumed that the child took after his mother.
Now that Damien Leopold, who was known for her promiscuity, had her sore spot poked, how could she let the matter rest?
How dare a worthless son-in-law who came into the family talk to her like this? She was itching to slap him across the face.
“Am I wrong?”
Julius Reed leaned over, plucked a cherry from the fruit plate, and gently tossed it into his mouth, “If you haven’t been to a clubhouse, how would you know what a gigolo looks like?”
“You…”
With her face red, Damien Leopold was at a loss for words!
Darnell Ridge was often profligate with drinking and merriment, hanging out with his buddies, and she was lonely night and day; naturally, she would seek entertainment in some places.
After all, the Leopold Family was wealthy. When she got married, they gave the couple a big supermarket worth a million dollars.
On a daily basis, their income was close to a million just from sales in the store.
But most of the money was squandered by Darnell Ridge on fine dining and keeping mistresses.
The two of them were more like a couple in name only, mostly turning a blind eye to each other’s chaotic lives.
But outwardly, they still appeared to be a loving couple.
At least in the eyes of everyone else, they seemed very affectionate.
Driven by embarrassment and anger, Damien Leopold grabbed a glass of water from the table and threw it at Julius Reed!
Splash!
Julius Reed swiftly dodged to the side, and the steaming hot water, emitting vapor, splashed onto a flowerpot behind him.
The originally vibrant leaves immediately began to wilt.
If that had landed on one’s face, it would have caused burns, if not disfigurement at worst.
What a ruthless move.
“Aunt, what are you doing!”
Quella Radcliffe rushed over and hugged Julius Reed, her eyes filled with concern, “Are you alright?”
The hot water was freshly boiled and extremely hot.
Julius Reed shook his head, not saying a word.
But his expression had turned ice-cold.
“Aunt, you owe Julius Reed an apology.”
Quella Radcliffe turned back, glaring at Damien Leopold.
“Apologize to him? Does he deserve it?”
With a sneer, Damien Leopold’s eyes were full of disdain.
Her own status, the daughter of a merchant, the owner of a large supermarket.
And she was supposed to apologize to a kept man with a pretty face?
What a joke.
“He is my husband, Aunt. Please show some respect. Moreover, this is my home.”
Quella Radcliffe was very angry, but given Damien Leopold was an elder, she had to suppress the rage in her heart.
“Your home?”
Damien Leopold furrowed her brow slightly, then suddenly laughed, “What, feeling pity for your pretty boy? Worried about his face getting burnt? Since you don’t welcome us, Dominick, let’s go!”
Having said that, she turned around to leave.
“A loser, what right do you have to be here? Next time I see you, I’ll definitely beat you up!”
Cooper Ridge threatened with bared teeth, devoid of any respect in his words.
“Hey! Damien, why are you getting annoyed with a child!” Knox Ridge, hearing the quarrel, hurried out from the kitchen and grabbed Damien Leopold: “Come on, eat first.”
“Knox Ridge, about today’s incident, I will tell Darnell exactly what happened when I get back,” said Damien Leopold coldly, pushing Knox Ridge’s hands off her, “You know the consequences.”
“Quella! Come and apologize to your aunt right now!”
How could Knox Ridge let Damien Leopold go?
If she wanted to return to the Ridge family, she had to first ingratiate herself with Damien Leopold, who held significant influence within the family.
Furthermore, with Darnell Ridge’s agitating, it could be possible for the Ridge family to nod their heads and allow Knox Ridge to return.
Now, if she offended Darnell and his spouse, she could forget about ever returning to her parents’ home in this lifetime.
“Mom, Aunt first insulted with her words and then splashed Julius Reed with hot water. Why should I apologize? Even if it’s bullying, surely there’s no need to bully like this?”
Quella shook with anger. Where in the world is there such bullying?
Right to one’s front door?
“Shut up! You brat, how can you talk to your Aunt like that? And Julius Reed, kneel down and apologize to your Aunt!”
Knox Ridge was completely enraged.
It had taken so much effort to get Damien Leopold to come over to her home.
But Julius Reed, an incompetent and mischievous fellow, had managed to screw things up upon arrival.
“And that door, are you planning to wreck my home?”
Upon saying this, Cooper Ridge suddenly remembered their agreement, so he held onto Damien Leopold: “Mom, it’s almost half an hour now; I’m still waiting for him to kneel and apologize to me.”
Humiliating Julius Reed also delighted Damien Leopold, so she huffed lightly and sat back down on the couch.
“Damien, don’t stoop to our Quella’s level; this child…”
“I know, a poorly raised individual, no wonder he managed to bankrupt the company, truly a ‘talent,'” Damien Leopold interrupted Knox Ridge, looking at Quella with disdain.
Bad news travels fast.
The news of the Radcliffe Group facing bankruptcy and liquidation had quickly spread to Knox Ridge’s family home.
Those relatives whom Quella had pressed for debts all felt vindicated.
Naturally, Damien Leopold was aware of this, but what she didn’t know was that the Radcliffe Group had already righted its course and was now profitable.
“The one that seems to lack manners is you,” Julius Reed said, shaking his head at Damien Leopold. “Your poisonous tongue should be careful of retribution.”
“Retribution?”
Damien Leopold looked at Julius Reed with a smile, “Retribution is just an excuse for the incompetent to comfort themselves because they’ve been bullied and can’t retaliate, only able to console themselves.”
“Ever heard of instant karma?”
After saying this, Julius Reed immediately picked up the kettle of hot water from the table and poured it downwards on her.
“Ah!”
Damien Leopold, previously sitting with her legs crossed and a smile on her face, was shocked like a startled rabbit the moment she got doused with hot water, instantly standing up from the couch.
“Quella had quietly dumped it out earlier, fearing you might splash me.”
Julius Reed, watching her utterly embarrassed state, laughed loudly, “Sorry for startling you, Auntie.”
“You…”
Damien Leopold seethed at Julius Reed, furious beyond measure.
Had she actually been played?
The kettle was empty.
Julius Reed had simply used an empty kettle to humiliate her in public.
“I just wanted to see if there was water in the kettle; if it was empty, I would have heated some more for Auntie. Don’t thank me; I’m very well-mannered,” Julius Reed finished, placing the kettle back on the table.
“You bastard! You dare make a fool of my mom?”
Seeing this scene, Cooper Ridge, who had been standing, suddenly moved towards Julius Reed, swinging his fists to punch him, “Today, I’ll kill you!”@@novelbin@@
