Chapter 282 A master's help

"What?"

The tensions in the atmosphere was thick, both the people in the cell had complex and different emotions right now.

"This… I… I just know that they are doing something bout you, they are always upto something, and now I am in the radar too. This is ridiculous." Mark slammed his hand on his forehead with a big groan as if his annoyance had reached a new peak.

"You think the church is upto something? But upto what?"

Lucas could connect some dots on his own and come up with theories that might be right or might be wrong but hearing the thing from someone else was the one thing he wanted to depend on right now.

It seemed Mark knew something, Lucas could feel hesitance coming from the guy.

"Those bastards are always upto something! Just like how they eradicated a whole village because there was a rumor a child was blessed by a wandering demon." Mark said with hate.

Lucas sat there and listened to him speak for minutes, it seemed Mark had anger bubbling in him for quite some time and all this anger was toward the church.

Even Lucas felt like the church had done something weird, if this chaos energy was this dangerous then why did he get to live? He only got a threat from the High Priest and nothing more.

There were no tails on him since the talk with the landlord's daughter, Lila.

CLANK CLANK CLANK

A knock on the iron door came and soon it opened, Lucas saw the person in the entrance with a smile yet he knew he was in for a ride.

"… Master." Lucas said while bowing his head.

Sam, the old master was looking at him with a frown on his face, even Mark bowed toward the master alchemist in respect.

"Get up"

When they both got up, Sam got near Lucas and stood there while looking at him. Lucas felt like there was a slap coming up soon and a hand even came toward me.

Only to fell on his shoulder as a pat. Lucas was so surprised that he could not even feel the emotions coming out of his master.

"You made a mistake today, kid. Big mistake."

"I am sorry, its not a good excuse but I was not in contr-"

"I am not talking about that…" Sam stopped him form speaking any further and continued, "I am saying you shouldn't have come to this prison, as my disciple, you have some rights... haahhhh, its my mistake to not have told you before."

Sam just sighed while caressing his long beard.

Lucas still couldn't understand what was going on, he knew the master knew that he did something violent but aside from not telling him to be responsible, he was scolding Lucas because he went to a jail due to his own mistake?

"Alright, we are leaving now." Sam said and while leaving, his eyes fell on Mark who had just stood there with a pale face.

"… You're smart, alright, come with us." Suddenly, a smile formed on Sam's face.

Mark just nodded with a bow and followed Sam and Lucas outside the cell area.

They all reached the main office area where everyone was present. Lucas could feel the same gazes on him again, yet he was accustomed to them now.

The big guy and the one that brought him to this prison bowed toward Sam while they left not even acknowledging the other two who were walking behind him.@@novelbin@@

Suddenly, Lucas stopped in front of the one that brought him here. The guy did not look up toward him even though Sam was outside the building now.

"I am really sorry for the inconvenience that I caused you, but I wanted to tell you that I am going to compensate whoever or whatever I broke. I am saying this with the authority of being Master's disciple."

Both the big guy and the other looked up in surprise but before they could revert back, Lucas had already left.

"Did you feel that, Jarid?" The big guy asked the other one.

"Yeah… the authority and dominance behind those words… I can't believe its coming from a disciple alchemist…"

"Well, it does not concern us anymore, get back to your duty, Jarid."

"Yes sir"

Even after saying that, they both kept looking at the gate Lucas just left from in daze.

"Are we going in this, master?"

There was a carriage in front of the prison building, but it was not the normal one.

The carriage was three times the normal size and there were red rubies embedded at every corner.

A carriage driver had come to the gate and opened it for Sam, it was the first time he had seen the respect and authority Sam had among the people.

'I took the work 'Master' in alchemy too lightly…'

"Why was the master alchemist Sam in the prison?"

"Did he get in trouble again? Tsk Tsk."

"Hey, speak slowly, he might hear you."

People all around had started talking about Sam and it was because of Lucas.

'Why is this guilt just keep stacking? its happening since I came here, fuck!' Lucas could only groan inwardly.

"Lucas… listen."

"Don't worry, Mark. We will never meet again, and sorry for all that happened today." Lucas said with a smile yet he was not done, he continued, "If you ever get in trouble and I mean anything, do contact me. I will help you."

Mark was first surprised and wanted to say something yet nothing could come out. He only looked at Lucas and in the end nodded.

Lucas felt sad leaving such an asset behind, an asset that could now be called a new friend.

He smiled ad without any more interactions, went inside the carriage too.

All Mark could do was stand there till they left.

He sighed and went to the side of a building where no one was present.

Suddenly, his whole body pulsated with a white light and a silver armor formed all around his body. Without any wait, Mark tapped the center of his chest plate and vanished completely.
