Chapter 285 A fun hunt!
Lucas fought with determination, using no skill but only alchemy products to outmaneuver the wolves and land decisive blows. The combination of his alchemical prowess and combat abilities allowed him to destroy the pack, leaving Arin impressed quickly.
Once the battle was over, Lucas stood amidst the defeated wolves, his breath steady and his mind clear. Arin approached him with a nod of approval.
"You're quite the alchemist, but you've also got the heart of a warrior," Arin remarked his expression one of respect. "I must admit, you exceeded my expectations."
Lucas had expected the guy to switch yet this spectacle was a little too perfect.
Lucas smiled. It had been such a long time since Lucas had fought but he still had to hold back a lot and by a lot, he meant fully control himself.
"Thank you, Arin," Lucas replied, "Let's continue our journey."
"You want more?"
"Yes! But, Wait what?"
"Now what happened?"
Lucas looked in front of him in a daze, he had opened the system and while looking at it and the logs, he realized something.@@novelbin@@
'I am not getting experience…'
If he was not getting any experience, Lucas was in a dilemma, if not for his mark, he wouldn't have to kill stuff as there was no experience or level-up in doing so.
'Wait, since I came here, my skills didn't level up a single time… what the actual fuck?'
"Hey, where the fuck are you man, lets go back!"
"NO! I want to practice more!" Lucas said childishly. He realized that the darkness was still a little more than there should be in his heart.
He made a short plan, to try getting or upgrading a new or existing skill. This way, he would know that he is not leveling at all.
'If that is the case, then I can just come here when I am bubbling, no more unrealistic leveling or anything here.'
Lucas's desire to stay and fight surprised Arin even more. The alchemist was far from the fragile person he had initially thought him to be. Instead, Lucas's aggressive enthusiasm for battle was undeniable.
"Alright, we can stay a bit longer," Arin conceded, sensing Lucas's excitement. "But keep your guard up. The forest is unpredictable."

Lucas nodded, but his focus was elsewhere. He was trying to understand why he hadn't received any experience points or leveled up his skills during the fight with the shadow wolves. His thoughts were troubled as they moved forward.
Despite his internal conflict, Lucas couldn't deny his enjoyment of the thrill of the battle. He wanted to test himself further and see how far his alchemy skills could take him in combat.
Arin kept a close eye on him as they navigated deeper into the forest. They needed to be careful, as the woods were filled with dangers that were known yet still dangerous. Lucas's confidence and eagerness could lead him into trouble if he wasn't careful.
As they ventured further, Arin led him along a winding path. Suddenly, they came upon a larger clearing. The air felt thick with danger, and both men instinctively reached for their weapons.
With all the time he lived inside the forest, he knew that solo monsters or animals found it right to make their territory anywhere, but packs were a different thing, they liked clearings and if there was a good natural clearing somewhere, it meant a territory fight among the monsters.
He had seen it too well happening inside his territory and he found it funny the monsters were living in 'his' territory and making a territory of their own inside it.
With a little observation, Lucas and Arin stood a little further from a pack of larger, more aggressive-looking wolves, unlike the shadow wolves they had encountered earlier. These wolves had dark fur with hints of red, and their eyes gleamed with a menacing intelligence.
Lucas's heart raced with anticipation, while Arin's instincts told him they needed to be cautious.
"These are blood wolves," Arin whispered. "Much more dangerous than shadow wolves. We need to approach this carefully."
"But why the hell are we only finding wolves here? Aren't there other better monsters?"
"No, this forest is mostly inhabited by wolves of many different evolutionary paths and species, it has been like that for centuries. There were some experiments of shifting other monsters in here but they all died from one wolf or another making them the apex after us in this forest again, truly a mystery."
Even Lucas thought Arin spoke a lot yet it all made sense.
Lucas's eyes sparkled with excitement, but he listened to Arin's warning.
His potions were all done for, in the heat of the moment, he used a lot of them. No, he only had a sword, his dear old friend.
There was a bigger wolf out of them all and Lucas knew it was the pack leader.
Lucas moved forward with his perceptive eyes on, there was a passive skill activated by the big leader wolf, and all Lucas had to do was keep a foot in that
The pack leader moved his eyes toward Lucas the moment he entered the detection range, it howled and all of them started looking at Lucas.
"Fuck, we weren't supposed to get them all aggro!"
The big wolf lunged forward, and Lucas quickly tossed a potion in its path, the only one that was left.
The wolf's movement was halted as the potion exploded, releasing a thick sticky honey-looking liquid. It prevented the pack leader from moving any further.
Arin took advantage of the moment, shooting an arrow at the wolf, a good decision from his side yet Lucas caught the arrow in midair when it got in his range.
He tossed it back to Arin who was shocked to the bones.
"Why don't you let me play a little, Arin? It won't take long."
Lucas took the sword out of the scabbard and looked at it, the sword was shivering- no, his hands were.
Arin mistakenly thought that Lucas was scared yet the look of longing on Lucas's face said otherwise, he missed fighting with a sword all this time. The only things that was missing in his life since he came here.
What do you think?
