Chapter 295 I am home (1)
When Lucas opened his eyes again, he was touching the ground, his hand scraped against the rough surface, a surface that was well-furnished yet primitive at the same time.
"The basement…" Lucas muttered and opened his eyes, he looked at the soil on the ground all compressed to make the perfect ground. Even with better tools, it was a difficult task to get this perfection with soil.
Something only possible with the best of the tools. Lucas breathed in and felt a connection he had not felt for a long time.
It was as if he was inside his home, warm and safe. The shelter was connected to his very Mana, his mana left the body from the parts that were touching the ground. But it entered again as if the shelter was one entity and Lucas was part of it.
"Y-You're back"
Lucas heard the voice while he looked at the ground, he tried to make up whose it belonged to but no matter how he did, it was murky at best.
Finally, Lucas looked up and found a very familiar face.
"Sean?" Lucas asked with a smile.
"Uh… yes?" Sean was the same as before, there was not a single change in him yet to Lucas, he looked somewhat foreign.
Leaving his home for 15 years, meeting countless people, studying, researching, killing, and meeting life-death situations. It all made the past very distant.
"W-Wait here, I will call my dad," Sean said and went upstairs in a hurry.
"Dad… that's John." Lucas thought and waited for someone to come down again.
It was the right way, rather than going in front of multiple people that he didn't remember, if people came one by one, it was easier.
'I won't have to tell everyone that I have been gone for 15 years this way…'
Lucas got up and looked at himself first, it was weird seeing his body smaller again. His clothes were worse than average. William touched the leather and could feel the rough execution.
His mind drifted to all the things he learned about tailoring and handling the material.
He looked around and found multiple small crude workshops, which had curtains made of animal skins around them, Lucas walked to one of them. He touched the curtain and then brushed it off.
'It's so nostalgic…' The workshop had stone slabs all around the corners and ground, there were formulas written all over it. He chuckled looking at them, they were so basic that it almost made him feel embarrassed.
He stepped inside and looked at the cauldron, they were all cleaned up but when he looked inside, Lucas frowned, wooden chips were coming out from many sides.
'This is not good, a cauldron has to be so perfect that it does not affect the concoction in any way…'
There was a crude sandpaper right at the side and Lucas sighed in relief. It was enough for him to make some changes. He picked it up and started sanding it out from the inside.
At first, it looked like a normal sanding process, even slower. But soon, the sandpaper started leaving traces of mana all around the cauldron, with each stroke of the mana-filled sandpaper, the wooden chips started sanding out until the whole cauldron's inner surface was as smooth as the fine metallic ground, all it lacked was just the metallic luster.
Lucas went to do the same with the second cauldron and when he picked the sandpaper, he saw the sand particles on it shining, it was using his mana and Lucas had willed it to take more than necessary.
It was going to break the sandpaper after he removed his mana from the sandpaper but it was so crude that Lucas was not willing to use it any more than necessary anyway.
Suddenly, he heard footsteps, Lucas looked out of the curtain only to see a man staring at him, his eyes showed shock.
"Lucas…" Soon, his face changed to that of relief just like a parent who finds out his children are okay.
He brisked toward Lucas who looked at all his features with a smile, just a single look at John had made him remember almost everything about him.

John hugged him tightly and Lucas reciprocated it, the pain that was in his heart felt a little bearable with his people beside him.
"LUCASS!!"
Soon, another voice came from the stairs, Lucas broke the hug and looked at John for a second.
Yet John grabbed his shoulders and did not let Lucas leave, he peered in his eyes with a serious and confused face.
"It's been a long time, Uncle John." Lucas mildly smiled at him.
"You scared me… boy," John said and removed his hands. Lucas could tell that John was onto something.
The reunion was good and all but in no way was he going to tell him or everyone about how long he was there in the quest world. It would complicate things a lot.
"LUCASS!!" The shout came once again and Lucas smiled at the person running toward him.
He opened his arms and welcomed her with a warm smile.
Sarah came with a desperate face and slammed her body at Lucas with all her might.
Fortunately for Lucas, his body might have reverted back yet his stats had not.
He wrapped his hands around her back and hugged her tightly. When Lucas felt the warmth of her body, a certain comfort seeped inside his heart.
The hug went on for a few minutes and the duo said nothing to each other other than hug.
John looked at the duo with a smile yet when he looked at Lucas specifically, his mind got diverted again.
"Come upstairs after you both are done." John said as he moved back to the stairs yet he stopped and looked back, "It's great to have you back, Lucas."
Lucas looked at him and nodded, so much was going on in his mind right now. Yet when he thought of his dilemma, Lucas retracted from the hug.
Sarah looked him in the eyes finally, tears rolling down from her eyes. Yet when she peered at Lucas's eyes with focus, her face changed to that of shock and disbelief.
"A-Are you Lucas?"
What do you think?
