Chapter 294 15 years later (3)- Unwanted Farewell
"I will make you believe I am real one day, Lucas."
In a clearing far away from the town, many people were gathered. There was a diverse variety of people.
A goblin, 5 old humans, a girl, and a man in a pristine white robe.
Lucas looked at the girl with a small smile.
"I believe you completely, if you were not real, I couldn't have come this far,"
"So this 'quest' of yours, is it completed now?" One of the elders asked while caressing his pure white beard.
"Yes, everything is completed…" Lucas didn't know what to say anymore, 15 years with people was compared to how much time he had lived with his parents.
One of the elders shook his head and stepped forward, he kept a hand on Lucas's shoulder.
"The day you came to me the first time, I knew there was something about you." The old man said.
"Your hurry of learning things people take decades made me suspect things but everything's clear now… You are not from this world." He continues with a chuckle.
Lucas only nodded, he looked at everyone in the clearing with a sad face.
"Everyone, I enjoyed your company in these 15 years here. I wish I could stay more but my people are waiting for me on the other side…" Lucas said looking at everyone, a smile formed on most of their faces and Mary started crying.
"But, I swear on my life, the day will come that I will return and take you all with me. I promise. You'll like the world I live in… just like I loved living here."

Lucas looked at the message and winced, he didn't have time anymore, he hugged the elder in front of him with a smile, then the other, and then the other.
Until he reached the goblin who was smiling all this time.
"I guess this is goodbye… It was fun building that business with you Lucas, and thank you for making me feel welcome. You're my only best friend and will always be, no matter what." The goblin said with a sad smile, he was not one to cry but Lucas could tell that he was at his breaking point.
"Wow, you are changing into a crying little girl, aren't you man?" Lucas smirked making them both chuckle.
"Now that I have joined the church thanks to you, hope I see you again in that hell we talked about."
"You're right about that. See you soon." Lucas grinned.
He at last nodded and hugged the goblin until he reached Mary who looked at him while brawling her eyes.
"You'll come back, right? I knew this day would come soon, but… I am not prepared, Lucas. Please, take me with you… don't leave me behind."
She hugged him and cried uncontrollably, Lucas did not know what to do, it was selfish of him to get this attached to her. He knew he needed to leave one day. But in this foreign world, he needed something to attach to and 15 years was a long time.
He quickly broke the hug and looked at her with a smile, "Mary, don't go completing the Project Immortal research on your own. Wait for me, alright? I will come back for you one day I swear."
Mary who couldn't hold her tears looked at Lucas with longing before nodding and looking down.
Lucas kissed her on the head and after a tight hug, he quickly retracted and looked at the man in the white robe.
"Hope you don't forget our promise, Your Highness." Lucas gave a small nod to the guy but before he could get an answer back. The world around Lucas completely changed, he tried moving his trying to find the ground yet there was none.
It was total darkness, the one he was familiar with, the one where everything had started.
After a few seconds of being like that, he calmed himself. Lucas tried to feel anything in the space around him, yet the place was void of mana.

Lucas looked at the messages coming one after another with a small smile, while it was a sad reality of leaving his loved ones, it didn't put a shade on his 15 years of hard work.
After so long, he finally gained the reward and was going beck home.
"Hm?" Lucas looked down on his body and was surprised.
'My body is shrinking…' He thought and finally realized, 'It's shrinking back to how it was in the Plains of Amaeron. How convenient.'
He sighed in relief, he had been thinking about how the others would react to him being a 30-year-old now.
He looked at the changes with marvel, his best armor vanished and so did all his clothing leaving Lucas all naked in the void.
While his body was still shrinking, clothes appeared on his body yet again. Lucas felt nostalgia looking at them, it was the crude leather armor that he once possessed.
He remembered it being made by John.
'Wait' Lucas froze at that thought, something did not feel right.
Lucas focused with all and tried imagining John but no matter what he did, Lucas could not remember what the guy looked like.
All he could remember was that he was kind, mature, and always level-headed and that his height was bigger than his.
'Is 15 years enough to forget how someone looked?' Lucas thought and pushed the hair on his forehead to his back.
*"You have improved a lot, that is good."*
Lucas jerked his neck to the front, someone had just spoken. Yet the robotic voice hit him in a matter of a second.
"Overseer" Lucas spoke yet nothing came out but he knew his voice had reached.
*"It's good that you remember me so quickly even when your mind has aged a lot, we don't have time, meet me at the dungeon as soon as you can."*
The robotic voice said and Lucas let it linger, did something happen? Experience new stories on My Virtual Library Empire
Only five seconds were left and Lucas was finally going to meet his people again.
What do you think?
