Legendary Shelter Survival Guide

Chapter 301 Too dangerous to use anymore

Lucas looked in the front calmly, his gaze never left the silhouette that just materialized from the transportation circle.

=====

Undead Knight

Level 21

=====

The creature in front of him had a red metallic armor which gave off a bright luster even though the light in the room was dim at best.

Lucas looked at that armor with curious eyes. His hand twitched a little.

'That's metal I have not seen and worked with till now, I wonder what its composition is.'

Being a smith that handled even dragon scales and bones just a few days ago, Lucas was astonished to see a new kind of metal. One he had not worked with till now.

Yet there was only one problem, the creature in front of him was an undead, creatures that were made from the very darkness Lucas tried to get away from.

It had a long sword hanging to and from its right hand.

"If you are a knight, then I might as well take this a tad serious." Lucas kept his hands on both his sword's hilts.

He closed his eyes for a second and caressed them until his hand stopped.

"Alright, to make it better, I will use the weak one." He took the sword out with a sound of 'SHWING' from the scabbard.

When the undead saw Lucas take the sword in his hand, it dashed forward without any hesitance.

Lucas did not move a single step and waited for the creature to come to him.

Just when it was inches away, the undead moved its sword quickly trying to puncture Lucas's gut.

CLANG!

Alas, it was parried without any problem. The undead attacked again and again only to get parried.

While Lucas was fighting, his focus was not actually on the undead but on the armor it was wearing.

'I really need to inspect that chest plate,' Lucas thought, and after getting his warm-up done for a few more strikes, he parried the undead's sword with much more force.

The undead unreluctantly took a step back and tried attacking again.

But Lucas moved his sword properly for the first time, with a flash of light and a shrieking sound from the swords, Lucas cut both the hands of the undead with two simple forward strikes.

CLANG THUD THUD

The undead looked at its fallen sword and arms for a second and then at Lucas, its rotten reddish eyes as dead as ever.

Without any wait, the undead tried getting its arms and sword back yet Lucas grabbed it by the neck and pulled it up.

The undead's legs wiggled and tried hitting Lucas at the head a lot of times but Lucas cut them off too with a single strike.

GRRRRR…

It snarled menacingly and tried to take a bite at Lucas's hand.

"AGH, you are a pain to deal with, brother. I think it's the end for you now." Lucas said without taking his glittering eyes from the armor.

His grip on the neck tightened and before the undead could do anything, its neck cracked and its head dropped to the ground.

"Oh NO NO NO!" Lucas's face became pale as the upper body of the undead with the armor started to vanish back inside the runic circle.

'I should not have let it die… That was my bad.'

Lucas regretted his ignorance about the boss monster vanishing after defeat. After so long, he was in the dungeon some menial details were missing from his memory.

-"Would you like to continue or get your reward first? If you wish to continue, I can double the quality of the reward chest for the next stage."-

Lucas heard the Overseer from all around the room and after pondering about it, Lucas stated, "I shall go to the next boss, rewards can wait."

-"Understood, please enter the gate."-

Just like the first time, another gate materialized from a light source and Lucas entered it with a confident smile.

The scenery in the next boss room stayed the same yet Lucas observed changes in the transportation circle. It was almost as if it had upgraded.

But before he could even inspect it, the boss monster started to materialize.

=====

Stone guardian

Level 24

=====

"Hmm… this one's boring." Lucas tried to pry in the type of rock it was made from but no matter how he inspected it, the rock just came out to be normal rubble.

The golem was 15 feet tall and seemed to be bulky. It was a creature made from rough stones covered in moss and vines.

Lucas's sword was already out of the scabbard, he looked at it for a second and then at the guardian. His eyes flashed in yellow color.

'Cutting it will be like cutting a cheesecake but the durability of this sword might dwindle a lot.'

Lucas was in a dilemma, he could kill the creature without any skill and just the sword but it also meant killing his sword with a slow death too.

THUM

The guardian took a step forward, showing just how much weight was behind those footsteps.

'Until I get or make a new one, hindering the durability will be bad. I mean, Sean could fix it but I don't want to go back so quickly.'

With a decision made finally, Lucas closed his eyes for a second, after observing the speed of the guardian, he had already deduced that it would take roughly 10 seconds to reach him.

Yet it was enough, darkness started leaving his heart in low quantity and traveled toward his right palm.

Yet it was not the end, with the sword connected to his body and with a single command, the darkness started seeping inside the sword, and soon enough, the blade had a black aura around it.

'My chaos aura should level up soon…'

The percentage beside the skill name was at 95%, it was only a matter of time before it would level up again.

Lucas opened his eyes in two seconds, the guardian still far away from him.

'Chaos strike, Step 1,' Lucas thought out in confidence and swiped the sword in a horizontal slash, 'Unpredictable Slash'

A small arc of dark energy forced itself out of the sword and went to the guardian's abdomen.

Just how cleanly it entered, the dark arc of energy came out the back and dissipated into thin particles.

The guardian without doing anything reached its hand out to Lucas only for its upper body to fall to the ground.

Lucas gracefully went to the guardian's body, its hand reached out for him but got out with a single slash again.

With the hand down too, Lucas reached out for a glowing orb inside the stomach.

The glowing orb shattered into thin pieces with a single push of the sword.

-"Lucas Garde"-

"Yes, please let me through the next gate, Overseer," Lucas said politely.

-"It's not that, but there is a problem. You have to refrain from using skills that include chaos energy from getting out of your body. It will gather too much attention."-

"... But… those are my strongest skills, I can't just not use them," Lucas said, he frowned after a long time yet even that frown felt noble.

-"It is your wish in the end, but if you keep using these skills, you will gain attention from beings that you shouldn't so early."-

"Alright, then I would like to go through the next gate," Lucas said while his mind diverted to the number of skills he could use that did not include chaos energy.

-"The next one needs you to have a team, I am afraid it's not doable without one."-

"Is this like the one with the darkness or that undead dimension?" Lucas asked with seriousness.

-"It's like that but the difficulty will be higher, doing it with others might also be tough,"-

"It's okay, my people are stronger now."

-"No," The voice echoed making Lucas confused yet it continued, "You grew strong, they didn't. Nobody can compete in ability with a player that has completed the personal quest."

"Well, I think many of my people will complete it in a few months…"

The overseer fell silent after Lucas spoke making Lucas wonder what he said wrong.

-"It seems you are gravely mistaken about the personal quests, Lucas Garde. If you would have told me before going, I would have stopped you. The best course would have been for you to keep developing your territory. But you have to understand that completing the personal quests can be a daunting task."-

-"If you had failed to complete the quest, you would have returned with nothing and even the memories of the whole experience would be erased. This makes it impossible for many players to complete it because they don't remember their mistakes in the quest world."-

Lucas contemplated and found that it was difficult to complete the quests. Even he, who was passionate about crafting took 15 years to become a master of it all.
