Chapter 318 Dungeon (2)- Treant
The duo traveled through the forest. During that time, Lucas either gave pointers to Jerry, or they remained silent. At least, Lucas did.
With Jerry's habit of constantly talking, Lucas could tell he didn't feel the need to be vigilant.
'I need to test him…' Lucas thought, scanning the area. He spotted many monsters and animals within range.
But these creatures were too small. From Lucas's understanding, they only hunted smaller prey until they evolved or grew bigger.
Time passed without incident, and finally, Lucas stopped.
"I don't see the dungeon," Jerry muttered, but when he noticed Lucas, he became alert as well.
"It's time to test the group's tank. Jerry, be ready. Enemies incoming from the west."
Jerry tensed up, looking west for a few seconds but seeing nothing. With a frown, he was about to rebuke Lucas, but then he realized Lucas was no longer beside him.
His eyes widened in shock. How could he vanish in an instant?
"Jump, or you'll lose your legs," a serious voice called from above.
Suddenly, Jerry felt a slight tremor beneath his feet, and every hair on his body stood on end. Instinctively, without thinking, he jumped.@@novelbin@@
The ground cracked open, and a swift root whip lashed horizontally at the spot where Jerry had been standing.
The root retracted into the ground, and Jerry crashed to the ground simultaneously.
"What was that?!" Jerry asked, soon noticing Lucas standing beside him once again.
"It's most likely a treant. The root came from the ground. Let's deal with it first," Lucas said, jogging toward the west. Jerry, after a moment of hesitation, frantically followed.
A few seconds later, Lucas stopped again and leaped so fast it almost seemed like a glitch in the world.
Seeing that, Jerry finally realized where Lucas had gone before. In a split second, he felt goosebumps, understanding it was happening again.
He jumped as soon as the realization hit, but unfortunately, the ground cracked instantly, and a root whip latched onto his leg.
"OH SHIT!" Jerry panicked, looking down. A spiked root had wrapped itself around his leg, and to make matters worse, it was pulling him toward the ground.
Jerry tried to jerk his leg free, but when he tugged slightly, he felt a painful squeeze.
He realized his leg could be severed at any moment. Glancing up, he saw Lucas hanging from a tree branch with one hand, his expression serious but calm, without a trace of panic.
"Cut it, Bill."
As soon as Lucas said that, something emerged from Jerry's shadow, and with a clean swipe, the root loosened its grip and retreated back into the ground.
"What the fuck?!" Jerry gasped, dropping to one knee as he examined his bloodied, ragged trousers.
"Your senses are way off. If not for Bill, you would've lost your leg a second ago," Lucas said as he gracefully landed on the ground.
"Do you really think now's the time to nag me? I'm hurt!" Jerry retorted, tearing the bloodied part of his trousers. There were puncture wounds on his leg, along with signs of strangulation.
"Should I call Sandra?" Bill asked, crouching down to inspect the wound.
"No need," Lucas replied, causing both Bill and Jerry to stare at him incredulously.
Unbothered, Lucas quickly scanned the ground, his eyes glowing green. He crouched and swiftly pulled a herb from the ground, careful not to damage it.
Under their dumbfounded gazes, Lucas made the plant float in his palm. Piece by piece, it separated and turned into a green liquid with a shiny hue.
Lucas approached Jerry, kneeling as the liquid hovered over the wound.
Jerry watched the liquid as it touched his wound and splashed over it.
"KUGGHHH!!!" Jerry screamed through gritted teeth, his voice raw with pain as Bill frantically held his back.
"What's happening?" Bill asked, pulling back as Jerry lay down.

"Look at his wound."
Bill looked from Lucas, who remained unfazed, to the wound. His eyes widened in surprise.
"It's… healing?" he muttered, speechless.
"I used the most basic and primal healing potion, so the process will be slow, but the wound will fully heal in about eight minutes," Lucas said, making Jerry sit up.
Though still in pain, Jerry noticed the steam rising from the wound and the way it slowly closed. Some of his panic subsided, and he began breathing heavily.
"Did you use telekinesis just now?" Bill asked in astonishment.
"To a certain extent. I can only use it on herbs and processed essences."
"I see…" Bill nodded in understanding, but when he looked at Jerry again, he let out a rare chuckle.
"Stop whining already, it's healing."
"Kughh… I'm trying," Jerry groaned through gritted teeth.
"You need to take him back to Sandra or Aunt Ella. The root's spikes were poisoned. The healing potion I gave will only fix the external wounds and stop the bleeding."
Bill's demeanor changed and he nodded seriously, even Jerry shivered at the thought. Quickly, he stood, leaning on Bill's shoulder for support as they began heading back.
"Are you going to fight that thing?" Bill asked, glancing back. Lucas simply nodded.
"I'll join you after I drop him off. Mark the location," Bill said, moving forward only to be stopped by Jerry.
"Lucas… I'm sorry. Once I'm healed, I won't disappoint you like this again," Jerry said, looking down, his emotions a mix of shame and humiliation.
"I hope so, Jerry. You stopped training when things got peaceful, and now that peace is coming back to bite you. Take care," Lucas said before jogging toward the creature that had caused all the trouble, leaving the duo behind.
Lucas moved swiftly through the forest, his eyes narrowed, focusing on the faint vibrations in the ground. He could sense the treant nearby, hiding behind all the big and dense trees around.
The ground opened again swiftly and Lucas dodged without jumping this time, he moved swiftly after analyzing the location the root came from.
"Got you,"
What do you think?
