There's a common saying back on Terra that falling into a routine is a telltale sign of someone mediocre. Yet, ever since he arrived in Genovia, Aoni has proven that saying to be nothing but false.

Then again, a lot of what he does could be considered training and habituation for his summons. If he keeps a schedule, they, too, will learn how to do it, and such is how productivity is built from the ground up.

From the moment he could form coherent thoughts and found out about Traveler's, the Lad had already made up his mind on how he would train and grow alongside his summons, treating them as family, which, in the eyes of many, was considered extremely ineffective.

Sure, some cases proved that to be incorrect, as some of the most powerful and Highly Acclaimed Travelers were best friends or family with their summons; however, for every one of those that think that way, dozens upon dozens see whatever comes out of the Flume as a means to achieve something, a tool, or worse yet, slaves.

As if that wasn't bad enough, there were plenty of propaganda examples detailing each of the many different methods of training and growing summons.

Anime showing newly awakened Travelers going on adventures with their summons and living heartwarming lives were just as abundant as ones where they practically abused the shit out of their subjects, running them until they break, or worse, die.

Aoni, for one, abhorred the thought of something ever happening to his beloved floof and newly summoned birb, and that was why he treated them like little siblings.

And…it was also why, even with only 11 days remaining until all hell breaks loose on the mountain and the barrier collapses, he still hadn't pushed them into a straightforward form of combat training.

Instead, he gave each of them little tasks to complete, all the way down to his structured routines, which revolved around critical thinking and active listening.

The last thing he wanted was to put either of them in a position where they would have zero idea how to react to a given situation.

For example, sending Nyria out under the guise of exploration was a covert way of training her to be a scout. With her flight and Dynamic Vision, it would be extremely simple for the birb to notice movement and approaching enemies.

Not to mention, her little habit of collecting trinkets would one day end up yielding real results in the form of valuable materials.

However, with Glacia, things were a tad bit different.@@novelbin@@

Due to her lack of intelligence when compared to her little sister, one of the most challenging things Aoni dealt with was keeping her on task.

So the easiest way he'd found to do so was to send her out on hunts; in this way, although she'd be fighting off instinct alone and wouldn't have any real skill in a fight, she would still obtain valuable experience that could potentially aid her in life or death situations.

That being the case, using the carrot stick model, he'd essentially tricked the floof into training by using whatever she brought back as a reward, IE, food.

Standing in the mouth of the cave and swinging the newly attached door back and forth to test its range of motion, Aoni considered the many different ways he could incorporate his knowledge into fun and intuitive forms of learning.

'While I would like to believe Glacia will be the harder one to convince, the more difficult of the two will be Nyria, given her trauma.' He mused after setting up a simple hook latch locking mechanism to keep the door closed and seal off the cave from the elements.

'Both of them are 2-Star combat-oriented summons, so technically, they should be able to shred their way through a meat grinder of 1-Star or lower opponents, but between Glacia's bubbly personality and the nervous, shy one of Nyria, I don't really see either of them fighting tooth and nail.'

Stepping away from the cave and massaging his temples, Aoni tried spotting Nyria as she flew around the mountain but came up empty.

'I really can't see a bright side this time; she's too scared to venture too close to the barrier, and as such, the type and strength of enemies waiting for us is still unknown. Then again, I can't blame her for that either.'

'Even so, what is my best course of action here…' observing the situation of the camp, the Lad's brain was running at maximum capacity because he knew that no matter what happened in his territory, his return to Terra in 15 days was a mandatory thing.

Although he hadn't thought about it much, there would be dire consequences if he didn't immediately return the second it was allowed.

The reason was the final step of connecting his Flume to the World of Terra, and if he didn't do it as soon as possible, the very real threat had nothing to do with what would happen to his family; no, it was something much worse.

Any traveler who didn't return to Terra within a certain period would experience a set of symptoms that would inevitably result in their termination.

Yeah, DEATH.

How, you may ask? Well, that is not entirely certain; however, the running theory is that the first time someone enters the Flume, it's considered a partial activation of their Artifact.

As such, a one-way channel to the World of Genovia is formed, and the flow of Energia is centralized in one location; however, what happens if a river is suddenly dammed up? Surely, it will eventually burst, right?

Well, it's the same thing with Flumes; the return trip back is essentially a means to finalize the channel one takes when traveling; not only that, but the coordinates to a Lord's territory become locked in at that point.

Think of it as the final stamp on a document.

As for the Symptoms mentioned, well, that's easy; think of it as a nuclear reactor bursting; it floods out a shit ton of radiation, killing everything around it slowly, until finally the Flume is destroyed, along with killing off those attached to it.

Mind you, this is also the only time that a Flume's destruction results in the death of the Lord in control of it.

Thus, it was vitally important that Aoni returned as soon as he could.
