Chapter 148 Prelude To His Return
To say that something as simple as bathtime would go off unhindered was simply showing a level of ignorance when considering a certain floof.
The moment Glacia was dragged into the crystal clear water of the Cavernous Lake, she flipped out as if her lord was dipping her in Acid.
Mind you, he, TOO, along with Nyria, were also in the water and had only looks of comfort spread across their faces thanks to the unique properties of the lake's Energia Rich origins.
"You're not a freaking Cat Glacia, I will NEVER understand why you act like this every single time." Rolling his eyes and dunking his flailing dog-sized fluffball into the water, Aoni took care to begin scrubbing her down with a brush he'd crafted out of some excess materials.
The brush wouldn't really do a whole lot when it came to removing bacteria since there wasn't any soap, but that was never its purpose in the first place.
Instead, it was merely a tool to free up Glacia's fur of particulates such as skin, gore, or something else remaining from her battles.
"GaoOoOOOo GaoooOOOooo OoOOOoo GAOOOO!" of course, Glacia was being dramatic as usual, howling to the sky as if her life was ending and this was the worst thing in the world.
Meanwhile, a calm and obedient Nyria simply floated like a duck in the water. Occasionally, she'd dip her head in and fill her beak so as to give herself a small shower over her feathers.
"See, why can't you be calm like your sister," Jacket off, and the sleeves of his pants and shirt rolled up, Aoni continuously dunked Glacia before bringing her up and running the brush through her fur."
"GAOoOoooOO! GaoaoaOOOoooO!" *Sister Helllppp*
"Clack," With a clack of her beak, Nyria paddled her feet and turned away, ignoring the pleading gaos coming from her big sister and continuing to clean her feathers.
Really, she was just waiting for her turn since there were a lot of feathers she couldn't reach on her own and would need Aoni's help.
"Chee,"
'Brother, you did all this?' Having been shocked into silence and waiting for a chance to bring it up, when it finally came time for Nyria to get pampered, she, of course, brought the topic up.
"Yeah, while you guys were clearing things outside, I was in here. I knew there would be a lot of monsters, considering the Cavern was empty before, but I never expected there to be this many."
"Thankfully, with the new barrier, I didn't have to face anything too crazy, but I kind of made a big mess…" Holding out Nyria's wing, Aoni carefully got between each feather with the thin brush he'd made specifically for preening her feathers and picked out anything sticking to them.
"Chee, chee," smiling with her eyes, Nyria nodded and seemed to be laughing.
'Mess, is this why you weren't that mad at me earlier?'
"Silly girl, I wasn't mad at you, or even Glacia…" pausing his statement, Aoni looked at the shoreline where he found Glacia sitting with a towel made of chimera hide, fluffed up and looking like a large cotton ball. Your next chapter awaits on My Virtual Library Empire
At a glance, it was clear to anyone who saw her grumpy face that she was not in the least bit pleased with what had happened.
"It was just a bit of a shock to me, is all; even so, I'm proud of you both, although I wish you'd stopped that knucklehead from dragging along so many bodies. Right, all done," finishing up the last of her bath, Aoni gave Nyria a few head pats and sent her to the shoreline before stripping down, cleaning himself and his clothes, and joining them.
Sitting on the ground beside his summons, Aoni opened his inventory and checked on what he had left, only to realize that apart from his weapons, a folded-up spare change of clothes, and the box meant to store Energia Cells, it was completely empty of any other items.
Heaving a sigh, he got up, swapped into his spare outfit, and snatched up the makeshift towel covering his floof.
"Alright, who's hungry? With all the meat we got back at the camp, I'm sure I can totally whip up a big meal for us!" His enthusiasm leaked through as he couldn't wait to try out the different meats.
"GAOOOO GAOOO GAOOO!" Having the towel snatched away initially pissed Glacia off; however, the promise of food, as per usual, was more than enough to wipe that anger away as she spun around in a circle before running around her lord like a happy puppy.

Day 33
Since the day the new barrier came up, life had definitely gotten more entertaining. To say the least, the usual morning routine had changed a lot, but that wasn't the only thing that had changed.
In a span of three short days, the formerly small camp had expanded drastically, more than doubling in size, as the Rampart, which originally covered only the platform, had been moved down the mountain a bit, roughly 200 feet away from its original location.
This wasn't done by hand, though; instead, it was thanks to the magical ability of Aoni's upgrades.
1: Colonial Slatestone Fort
Defense: E+
Durability: E+
Grade: ★★
Effect:
1: Minor: Damage Reflection
2: Minor: Energia Barrier of Warding
That's right; the wall had become much more than a simple barricade, and now, what was once a mountain peak camp had completely transformed into a full-on Fort, with the Cave housing Aoni's Flume resembling more of a tiny Castle than a cave.
It had cost him a vast amount of points on top of the Node of Flatten, which had been upgraded to extend its range, but through his efforts, the camp was looking more and more like a fortified defensive structure than ever.
Having gone ahead and manipulated the northern and eastern faces of the mountain peak into flat ground, it was significantly easier to expand his walls outward, and as such, after toiling away and going on a spending spree, Aoni was now 100% convinced he wouldn't have to worry about his summons…when he returned tomorrow morning.
What do you think?
