Chapter 82 Updated Summon's Display
Careful not to wake the sleeping bird, and standing up in one fluid motion without using his arms, Aoni slowly walked to the bedroom and smirked when he saw that Glacia had, indeed, thrown her body pillow into the corner of the bed.
Mind you, when he looked down at the floof and saw the proud expression on her face, he couldn't even find it in him to tease Glacia because she looked so damn proud to have brought it into the room all by herself that Aoni felt it would be him bullying her if he did.
Cradling the bird in one arm like a newborn and shaking his head, the lad leaned over and, with his free hand, snatched the pillow from the corner and curled it into a U-shape before gently depositing the bird into the center of it, like a nest.
Once he was sure the bird was sleeping comfortably, only then Did Aoni motion for Glacia to hop up on the bed and lay down with her.
After giving her a few head pats and whispering to take care of her new sister, the lad got up and left the room. He then walked outside, got the sheet metal he had summoned earlier, and placed it in front of the bedroom opening.
Givin the physical manifestation caused by cracking high-level orbs open, the last thing Aoni wanted to do was startle his new summon after having only just fallen asleep.
At the very least, between being on the other side of the wall and the doorway being blocked, the wind from the Sapphire orb wouldn't gust into the room.
Without looking back, Aoni made a b-line out of the cave, and upon reaching the platform, he collapsed onto his knees with tears in his eyes, dry sobbing.
He may have been able to contain himself while in front of Glacia and his newest addition; however, the moment he was out of earshot, his emotional state crumbled.
Although headstrong and having great willpower, the things he had witnessed were dark, darker than anything he could imagine, and the worst part is he was subjected to it all, just as the bird had been.
Even if most of the visions had been muted, he could feel all that the bird did, see what she had seen. It was horrible, and it took Aoni over an hour to collect himself and rebuild his mental state to the point that he could stop shaking.
"Fuck…." Spitting on the ground and wiping his nose and eyes with the sleeve of his jacket, the lad laid down on his back and stared up at the sky.
"I haven't even had the time or brain power to comprehend the fact that she has limited speech; then again, it could also be a learned ability, having spent time around humanoids."
"Eh, she's a three-star, so mental communication isn't too weird and out of the park. Had she been speaking verbally, though…that woulda been way out of the ordinary." Shaking his head, Aoni sighed heavily while thinking about the earliest visions he had seen upon the LoS forming.
While it's true that how much of a Summon's memory is carried over after the summoning process is completely dependent on the Summon's Grade, the fact that so much had been brought over was a testament to how traumatic the bird's life had been so far.
Then there was the genetic memory, or instinct passed down to it from its bloodline, wherein it knew of times long passed.
"Powerful, she could have become so powerful, but for some reason, she's stunted in her growth. Is it because of a lack of talent, or the torture she went through destroyed her ability to grow beyond 3-Stars naturally."
"No, there's more to it than that, I am sure of it; either way, it doesn't really matter considering I can fix these issues with points; however, her broken mind is something that can't be healed with a few head pats and a good nights sleep."
Being no stranger to depression or dark thoughts, Aoni had his ways of dealing with them, but what he did to help himself wouldn't necessarily work for the bird.
'For now, all I can do is be there for her; hopefully, being with Glacia will help as well. It will take time and a lot of care, but she's family now, and I will never give up on her.'

'More importantly, she needs a name….Nyria, I don't know why, but it just feels right to call her that; her parents never named her and only called her Child; as for the shitty people who she had been stuck with, each one called her something different.'
'Still, by summoning her all that has been wiped away. Nyria will be her true name from this moment onward.' Clenching his fists and pushing away the thoughts about the bastards who had harmed his summon, Aoni rolled out his shoulders and remembered the promise he had made earlier.
'Sigh… I need to get stronger if I want to protect not only Nyria but Glacia as well; I can't allow myself to fall…' Sitting up suddenly, Aoni opened his Summon's display and noticed the multiple changes it had undergone.

Well, Changes would be a bit of an oversimplification; for starters, there was a classification difference between his Summons, which was not only helpful but useful, considering he had essentially earned a bunch of junk out of the Grey Orbs, with the only exception being the Node Stones, and even those had their own designated spot on his Display.
What do you think?
