Chapter 98: 98 The Power of the Spirit Summoner
Chapter 98: Chapter 98 The Power of the Spirit Summoner
Before dawn arrived, the last of the darkness still enveloped the entire Messer City.
Hu!
Tang Qi emerged from his meditation state, and when he reopened his eyes, the fatigue had been swept away, and both his spirit and body felt replenished. With a thought, his body nimbly leapt up, landing without making a sound.
Glancing at the wall clock, it wasn’t yet breakfast time.
Tang Qi first took the cleaning tools to tidy up the mess on the ground, satisfying a slight obsessive-compulsive urge, before returning to his workstation. He took out an object from his bosom to examine.
What he held in his hands was a white mask.
It was exactly the Curio he acquired after killing that man in the hospital.
At that time, due to the runaway Meditation Method, he hadn’t had the chance to look closely.
Now, as he concentrated his gaze, ghost light quickly converged, revealing a special image.
[Curios: Hastu Mask.]
[State: Intact.]
[Information Fragment: A mask tainted by the Power of Unknown Evil God, a mass-produced Curio, it can shield the peering of Extraordinary Power while providing minuscule protection to the face.]
“Hastu?”
Tang Qi was almost immediately captivated by the three characters, and his mind, however, flashed back to the business card he had received from that young Amber Merchant.
Hastu Club!
The Evil God Seed which gave Tang Qi an immense sense of Horror had spread from this club.
Now, this name seems to represent a terrifying and unknown Extraordinary Force.
“The mask-wearing man who attacked Stanna wanted to snatch the failed Evolution Evil God Seed and to retrieve that business card.”
“From the time Stanna and her team set out to the appearance of the attacker, the interval wasn’t long, suggesting that this force has been keeping an eye on the police station and, with high probability, their headquarters might just be in… Messer City?”
“They’ve already failed once. Will they continue to send people?”
In Tang Qi’s mind, his thoughts began to diverge.
Indeed, his previous handling of similar Curios was entirely correct.
Some Curios, plainly part of conspiracies and of insignificant use, are best shifted onto officials for safety.
If after dealing with the Demon that resulted from the Amber Merchant’s change, Tang Qi had exercised his right and selfishly kept those few Curios for himself, perhaps that mask-wearing man would not have sought out Stanna and the police station, but would have instead broken into the school district on some deep night. Then, regardless of whether Lord Confessor’s power could detect Evil God’s Power, it would have been a real mess.
To resolve this trouble now seems not too difficult – continue to pass the buck.
Moreover, those burdens have in fact already been passed on.
Last night, when Old Coulson and Jason left, they took those batch of Curios with them.
The mask-wearing man arrived a step late, still thinking the Curios were in the hands of the people at Messer Police Station.
This “misunderstanding”, I believe after one day, that Extraordinary Force should come to understand.
Even if they want to find trouble, they should go looking for the people of the Ancient Castle Bureau in the Secret Phoenix State.
Although Tang Qi had only seen Old Coulson and Jason and witnessed their Combat capacity. Since Old Coulson is a “Healer”, his full ability could not be completely ascertained, and Jason, originally thought by Tang Qi that with full effort, he could be killed in a short time.
But after Jason gave him “Tilos Dice,” Tang Qi could no longer be sure.
Who knows what other Curios his mother has given him, and if Jason is pushed into a corner, throwing out a Combat Class Curio, the outcome would be unpredictable.
Tang Qi does not believe that the Ancient Castle Bureau has only those two personnel.
So, analyzing from the existing clues, the police station is generally still within the scope of safety.
As his thoughts touched upon Old Coulson and Jason, Tang Qi quickly remembered the small booklet the old man gave him when they parted.
“Internal Use Only!”
The small print at the bottom became somewhat conspicuous upon retrieval.
With a faint smile, Tang Qi ignored it and immediately flipped to the first page.
The very first term caught Tang Qi’s attention and made him serious.
“Speculations about the return of the Spiritual Tide?”
Tang Qi had not expected that a booklet intended for training newcomers would record this sort of information on the very first page.
But upon reflection, perhaps this is normal.
Since it’s meant for official personnel, the first step into entering the Extraordinary Domain might be to gain insight into secrets that ordinary people cannot yet access.
Tang Qi’s gaze became focused as he quickly scanned through the first page.
The official speculations inside weren’t much different from Tang Qi’s own guesses; perhaps other Transcendents would not come to many different conclusions: with the return of the Spiritual Tide, Origin Blue Star would face a great upheaval, and all established order would be reshaped.
Officials might be striving to maintain a facade of calm.
But how long can this maintenance last?
Tang Qi silently speculated, then shook his head, indicating his skepticism towards the officials.
If it were just ordinary chaos, it wouldn’t be difficult for Blue Star’s major political entities to suppress it.
But the twist of the Mysterious Side was different.
You see, even in a small place like Messer City, Tang Qi had already encountered the Witch of Misfortune… the Evil God Seed… even his own title of Master of the Crucible… Any one of them sounded like a Divine being capable of igniting an inconceivable war.
What about stepping out of Messer City, the entirety of Blue Star, what else might be encountered?
“Whew!”
Tang Qi reined in his overly sprawling thoughts; what the entire Origin Blue Star would turn into is certainly beyond his conjecture, but one thing he could confirm as correct: continuously strengthening one’s own power is the foundation to face all changes, the power that is firmly held in one’s own hands.
Silently noting this, Tang Qi continued to read.
Starting from the second page, the content that appeared was indeed what Tang Qi was very interested in: introductions to various Professions.
Although Tang Qi possessed Special Abilities, in terms of such statistics, the official who could call upon a wealth of resources was much more powerful.
Tang Qi flipped through the pages one by one, and the information about various peculiar Professionals emerged one after another.
Apart from the Professions that Tang Qi already knew and had experienced, such as Spirit Medium, Artifact Forger, Soul Comforter, Beast Shepherd, Beast Tamer, Healer… there were some that Tang Qi had never heard of.
For example, there was a Profession called “Spirit Summoner.”
At first glance, it seemed similar to Spirit Medium.
But in fact, they are not the same; Spirit Mediums have almost no combat ability, their main talent lies only in communicating with the Dead Spirits, conveying some information.
However, Spirit Summoners are veritable Combat Class Professions.
Every Spirit Summoner can summon powerful Dead Spirits and utilize the Power of the Dead for combat.
According to the descriptions in the booklet, the more powerful the Spirit Summoner, the more outrageous the Dead Spirits they can summon. It is even said that during the Dark Age, there was a Spirit Summoner who directly summoned a Demon King from hell; were it not for the nearby intervention of three Saints who joined forces to suppress the Demon King, the entire Federation might have suffered significant damage.
And this Profession, in the booklet, is still not considered as a high-end Combat Profession.
What looked like a thin booklet took Tang Qi a long time to read, until by chance, he noticed that the cold mist outside the window began to disperse, and darkness had faded long ago, another night had passed.
Tang Qi exhaled a breath of turbid air, ready to close the booklet and start preparing breakfast for himself.
But just at this moment, on the last page he flipped to before closing, Tang Qi’s eyes inadvertently saw a piece of information.
“Hmm?”
Immediately, Tang Qi’s expression changed.
What do you think?
