Caleb's shirt, unable to contain the new, expanded form, ripped apart, revealing a back that seemed to pulsate with demonic energy, muscles bulging and skin taking on a tough, scale-like appearance.
Feeling the surge of new power, Caleb flexed his arms, now doubled in number, each one feeling stronger than before. "Fuck yeah," he growled, a wild grin spreading across his face. "This is what I'm talking about."
Caleb decided to absorb the four-armed because he felt that the potential of the genetic structure of creature was immense and untapped. Clearly, the alien doesn't look someone who trained. Meaning, the alien was just naturally, genetically strong without training! Able to almost wrecked the entire city without use of technique but brute force alone!
The Earth Team, along with the alien onlookers, could only stare in fear and confusion. Did their captain just devoured the four armed Alien like that and obtained his characteristics? How was that even possible!?
After the fusion and the fight, Caleb accessed his internal stats, curious about the impact of the recent changes. His eyes widened as he scanned the new section under his bloodline, now listing "Four Arms (Platinum)" among his attributes.
"Shit, look at this," Caleb muttered to himself.
My Physique's shot up to 49,321, with Spirit at 41,200. That's some high-level crap right there."
He scrolled through his stats, his expression a mix of amusement and pride. Also, the newly added Bloodline section's got this Four Arms thing listed as Platinum. That's top-tier, right?
As Caleb absorbed the details, he realized the potential complications. "We better jet before the enforcers show up to make a mess."
Without wasting a moment, Caleb unfurled his skeletal wings, now more robust and imposing. "Hop on, team. Time to fly the fuck out of here."
Swiftly, the Earth Team clambered onto Caleb, who, with powerful beats of his wings, lifted them into the sky, leaving Zantos's surface just as enforcer units began to swarm the area.
Back aboard the spaceship, Caleb landed smoothly, his new arms retracting as they touched down. "Alright, nobody talks about what went down there," he instructed firmly. "We don't need any more attention on us than we already have."
The team nodded, still processing the day's events and Caleb's incredible display of power. They understood the gravity of staying silent; drawing too much attention could complicate their mission in the Universe Ascendancy Games.
Once back on the spaceship, the Earth Team, along with some amiable Ufotan companions, hit the cafeteria, eager to refuel after the day's events. The place was buzzing with different species, and the food was as varied as the crowd. There were dishes that looked like swirling galaxies on a plate, emitting gentle luminescent glows, and others that crackled and popped as if still alive.
"Man, this is some wild stuff," Leo said, poking at a dish that seemed to move of its own accord. "Tastes like chicken but feels like it's trying to jump out of my mouth."
Caleb, munching on something that resembled a neon blue steak, commented, "Everything's an adventure here, even eating. Gotta say, it's not bad, though. Beats the standard mess hall grub back home."
While they ate, one of the Ufotans, who seemed to have traveled extensively, shared his wisdom. "I've seen many worlds, and the biggest lesson I've learned is to be selfish. Not in a greedy way, but in ensuring your survival and progress. In the cosmos, if you don't look out for yourself, nobody else will."
His words, spoken with a blend of earnestness and resignation, struck a chord, especially with Leo, who then shared a personal story. "Reminds me of my grandma," he said quietly. "She was the kindest soul, always putting others first. But when she got sick, people she helped turned their backs. She died with regrets, wishing she'd been a bit more selfish, lived her life more for herself."
After finishing their meal, the Earth Team lounged around a table in the cafeteria, the conversation taking a philosophical turn. "So, what's the fucking point of it all, huh? The meaning of life and all that jazz?" Caleb asked, looking around at his teammates.
Mia, ever the thinker, responded first. "To me, it's about constant growth, learning. Like climbing a never-ending ladder, always reaching for the next rung, you know?"
Leo, still reflecting on his grandmother's story, added, "I used to think it was about helping others, being kind. But now, I'm not so sure. Maybe it's about finding a balance, looking out for yourself while still doing good."
The discussion then veered towards Maslow's hierarchy of needs. "It's like that pyramid thing, right?" Alex chimed in. "Starts with basic shit like food and shelter at the bottom, then up to safety, love and belonging, esteem, and finally, self-actualization at the top."
"Yeah, that's the one," Caleb nodded. "But it's a luxury to even think about the top of that pyramid. Most folks are stuck at the bottom, just trying to survive."
As the talk deepened, the concept of building one's garden before chasing butterflies came up. Sarah, usually quiet, shared her thoughts. "It's about creating a stable, happy life for yourself first, like tending to your own garden, making it flourish. If you've got that sorted, the butterflies – or the good things you want in life – will come naturally."
Caleb leaned back, absorbing the various perspectives. "So, we're saying life's about balancing your own needs, growing, and not running after dreams without sorting your own shit out first?"
As the Earth Team continued their deep conversation, a Ufotan joined in, overhearing their philosophical debate. "You know, maybe there's no need for life to have a specific meaning," the Ufotan suggested, his voice calm and reflective. "Perhaps the meaning of life is just to live, even without a defined purpose."
Caleb raised an eyebrow, intrigued by the idea. "Just live, huh? Without chasing after some grand fucking purpose?"
"Yeah, exactly," the Ufotan nodded. "Many of us spend our lives searching for a meaning, a purpose, believing it will give us satisfaction or happiness. But what if life itself, the experiences, the journey, is the real meaning? Living fully, experiencing the universe in all its diversity, isn't that meaningful enough?"
Leo, processing the idea, added, "So, you're saying hunting for some big life goal is a waste of time?"
The Ufotan smiled slightly. "Not necessarily a waste, but maybe it's not as crucial as we think. Life's about the moments, the experiences, the learning. If we find a purpose along the way, that's great. But it shouldn't be the end-all, be-all of our existence."
Mia considered this, then said, "It's kind of liberating, isn't it? To think we don't have to be defined by a single purpose or goal. Just living, exploring, and understanding could be our meaning."
Caleb, leaning back, let out a thoughtful hum. "I get that. Makes sense in a weird way. We're out here in space, seeing shit most people on Earth can't even dream of. If that's not living, I don't know what is."
What do you think?
