Lord of the Time: I Can Reincarnate Infinitely

Chapter 526 526: Ki Manipulation

As Caleb and the Ant King wandered further from the bamboo grove, they arrived at a more open area, marked by a gently flowing river and a waterfall cascading down a rocky face. The sound of water striking the riverbed created a soothing melody, complemented by the rustling leaves of the trees that lined the riverbank.

"I've never been here before," Caleb remarked, scanning the serene landscape that still fell within the tiny fraction of the wilderness known to humankind. "But it feels like a good place to rest for the night."@@novelbin@@

The Ant King nodded, his newly acquired form shimmering slightly in the fading sunlight. "It's peaceful," he agreed, "and safer than most spots we've passed."

They chose a spot near the waterfall, where the mist cooled the air, making it a refreshing place to set up their temporary camp. As they settled down, Caleb pointed to the river, where fish occasionally leaped above the surface, catching the light of the setting sun.

"Looks like we won't go hungry tonight," Caleb said with a grin, already strategizing the best way to catch some fish. "Fresh fish sounds perfect, doesn't it?"

The Ant King, watching the water thoughtfully, nodded. "It does. This place... it's beautiful, isn't it? We're always fighting for survival, but moments like these, they remind you what you're fighting for."

Caleb looked around, taking in the towering trees, the sparkling water under the early evening sky, and the peaceful sounds of nature. "It's more than just survival," he mused aloud. "Places like this, they're reminders. Reminders of the beauty and tranquility that still exist in the world, despite everything."

As darkness draped the wilderness, Caleb and the Ant King settled by the fireside, each with a freshly caught fish skewered and held over the flames. The crackling fire provided warmth and light as night enveloped their surroundings.

"Night out here is different, isn't it?" Caleb remarked, watching the fire dance. "It's peaceful but alive. You can feel the energy."

"Yes," the Ant King agreed. "The night brings out different creatures and sounds. It's like a whole new world emerges when the sun goes down."

As they turned their fish over the fire, Caleb showed curiosity about the fish they were cooking. "These fish from the river, they're not just ordinary fish, right? They seem to have more energy."

The Ant King, being knowledgeable about the local wildlife, nodded. "These are stream sprits. They absorb natural Ki from the water which makes them not only tastier but also more nutritious. They're known for enhancing one's vitality."

"Speaking of Ki," Caleb continued, intrigued, "I've heard about Ki manipulation here. It's different from the genetic powers I'm used to. How does it work exactly?"

"Genetic powers?? The Ant King sounded confused. Then, it shook its head and smiled. "Ki is life energy that flows through everything here. Humans manipulate it for strength, healing, or even to enhance senses."

Caleb, fascinated by this new concept, expressed a desire to learn. "I would like to understand how to manipulate Ki. It sounds like something I could really use."

"Tomorrow, I can start teaching you," the Ant King offered. "There are five basic techniques to begin with. Each technique helps in controlling and using Ki for different purposes like healing, enhancing physical abilities, or even for defensive measures."

Caleb nodded eagerly, "That sounds exactly what I need. What are these techniques?"

The Ant King laid out the basics: "Well, we'll start with breathing exercises to sense and gather Ki, then move to channeling it through your body, controlling its intensity, directing it externally, and finally, using it in harmony with the environment."

"Sounds like a plan," Caleb replied, his interest piqued.

"As we train, you'll feel how Ki differs from your powers. It's subtler but profound," the Ant King concluded, leaving Caleb in anticipation of what was to come the next day.

After their meal, Caleb and the Ant King sat back, content with full bellies. Caleb yawned, stretching his arms towards the night sky. "I think it's time to hit the hay. Sleep is next on my agenda."

The Ant King nodded in agreement but added a bit of wisdom to the conversation. "Sleep is more important than many think, especially for Ki manipulation. It helps the body and mind to assimilate the Ki learned during the day."

Caleb glanced up at the moon, its light casting shadows around them. "You know, I've always found the moon kinda ugly. It's just a big, bland rock hanging up there."

The Ant King looked surprised and slightly amused. "Really? I think the moon is beautiful. It has a gentle light that soothes the soul and illuminates the dark nights."

Caleb shrugged, "Well, everyone's got their tastes, right? What's soothing for one might be boring for another."

Their conversation drifted to deeper topics as the fire crackled softly. "Nature can be cruel," Caleb mused. "It's all about survival of the fittest. But you know, it reminds me of the law of thermodynamics I read about once. Energy is neither created nor destroyed; it just changes forms. Maybe Ki works the same way."

The Ant King listened intently, then responded thoughtfully. "That's an interesting way to look at it. Ki does flow and change form, depending on how it's used. Maybe there's a universal law we're tapping into."

"Yeah," Caleb continued, "just like energy flows and changes, maybe Ki is our way of interacting with that universal flow. Using Ki, maybe we're just channeling the universe's energy through us."

As they spoke, the air around them seemed to thicken, the night deepening its embrace. The discussion about Ki and the universe's energy had stirred something around them, a sense of greater forces at play.

The Ant King finally broke the heavy silence. "You know, discussing these things under the stars, it's like we're a part of something bigger, a part of the cosmic dance."

Caleb nodded, his eyes reflecting the flickering flames. "It's humbling and a bit scary to think about. We use Ki, but maybe in a way, Ki also uses us."
