Miss Witch Doesn't Want to be a Diva

Chapter 166 The Happiness Theory of the Newly Born

After being discovered, the spacecraft that accidentally entered the battlefield was commandeered.

For Oxikasha, the leader of the pale golden fleet, such a spacecraft was nothing rare; likewise, the humans and Elves on board were just as common.

In the late Fifth Epoch, new human races like Oxikasha had become an immensely large group. They controlled a vast number of Star Domains and lived and worked according to the instructions of their respective 'gods.' In their eyes, the original unmodified human subspecies were just backward and pitiful species.

'Those original humans are selfish and greedy, constantly fighting and mistrusting each other, nowhere near as excellent as us. We, united under the same voice, pursue the will of that great Sun, follow the same maxims and teachings, and are destined to far surpass them.'

Contrary to what many expected, these modified new races did not consider themselves inferior but believed themselves to be superior.

After capturing the spacecraft, Oxikasha casually ignored the passengers, only taking a special liking and interest in Isenisha, probably also a natural charm of a Color Level Songstress.

Because of her fondness for Isenisha, she easily spared the other people on the spacecraft and incidentally arranged for their settlement as well.

In the years that followed, Isenisha and Oxikasha became good friends, and during that time, Isenisha saw and understood the way of life of these new races through Oxikasha.

"This kind of species inexplicably reminds one of ancient bee colonies."

After personally entering societies of these species that were similar to, yet different from, humans, Isenisha wrote such a reflection in her diary.

These new humans with cicada-like wings on their backs, perhaps more appropriately called 'Cicada-Wing Species,' are almost all female, as their only male is the Hephaestus Sun·Hephaestymo they follow. These new species do not rely on traditional male-female reproduction but are uniformly bred from gene pools, followed by artificial hatching.

The basic common knowledge education is instilled through neural connection devices in childhood, taking only three years to grow from an embryo to a girl of appropriate age.

After reaching adulthood, they undergo various tests to screen for individuals with exceptional aptitude, then assignments are made based on aptitude and actual needs.

Due to uniform acceleration of growth, most of these new races have simple and naive personalities, which is preferred by their creators, since most of the basic work does not require very smart people. Instead, these simple and naive characters tend to focus better and have no other extravagant desires.

To ensure the loyalty of these new races and reduce rebelliousness, they were designed to feel easily satisfied. As soon as they report their work through a connected consciousness tunnel, they receive neural stimulation as feedback from the Throne and experience a kind of happiness and joy.

Besides work and the normal activities of sleeping and eating, they hardly engage in additional entertainment, nor do they watch the news or learn new things unless required by their superiors.

The advantage of this is to keep their spiritual world in a simple and naive state, greatly reducing the pressure on the Throne.

"Do you know you are slaves?"

After spending time with Oxikasha, Isenisha once asked her this question.

"Most of my kind do not have the concept of slaves or rather, it is only you old humans who think it's a derogatory term," Oxikasha, sitting opposite Isenisha, held a cup of glittering colorful iced drink and sipped it slowly.

As a powerful Transcendent of Sequence 9, she had too many ways to discern the truth of the world and was smart enough to know the origins of her own species, but even so, she would not betray Hephaestymo.

"You conventionally think that slavery is bad, because of historical experiences and the lack of sufficient material conditions in the past to allow slaves to have the normal diet and living conditions of regular people."

"So, subconsciously you believe all slaves are pitiful."

"But I don't think so," Oxikasha stirred her ice shake with a spoon, her attractive golden hair flowing, which was also why Hephaestymo liked her.

"In nature, who is really happier, the wolf or the dog?"

"Wolves and dogs don't have a species barrier between them; they are nearly the same creatures. You old humans might think wolves are free and happy, but if you ask the wolves that die outside from hunger, or succumb to disease and starvation, do they really not envy the dogs that are cared for and raised by humans?"

"Yes, they are leashed, tied up, confined indoors, sterilized, and so on, but for dogs, if they can have a stable and comfortable life without hunger just by accepting these, they are willing and happy as well."

"I've seen many past records and surveys, even during what was known as the prosperous Fourth Epoch, still, a large portion of the population was unhappy, unable to obtain what they wanted, human desires constantly expanding, never satisfied," Oxikasha leaned back in her beach chair, basking in the comfortable sunshine, expressing her viewpoint.

Faced with such a response, Isenisha fell silent for a long time. This kind of 'twisted logic' contradicted her worldview over many years, also temporarily leaving her unable to retort.

"Is this kind of pampered life really good? In order to prevent them from developing too many desires, a special physiological structure has been designed for them, and the input of information is reduced, maintaining a simple environment." Isenisha shook her head; she instinctively disagreed with this distorted way of life.

"Why be sad, my dear friend." Oxikasha reached out, lightly touching Isenisha's forehead with her finger, prompting the half-Elf girl with her eyes closed to open them.

"What do you think happiness is? Is it to have lofty ambitions, for each person to strive to become superior, standing at the peak of power and strength?"

"If not, then what is wrong with letting them maintain a simple and pure life?"

Confronted with this counter-question, that year's Isenisha couldn't answer, prompting her to fall into a period of silence and sadness.

Could this be the future shape of human civilization, the correct direction? She did not want to admit it just yet, but at that time, she struggled to find strong enough reasons to argue against it.@@novelbin@@

Merely for the sake of what she believed to be just and correct, to awaken those immersed in beautiful dreams, to confront the harsh reality, and then to be unable to tell them of a better future; that was something Isenisha couldn't bring herself to do. If she indeed tried to force it, it would be nothing less than deceiving others and oneself.

Ultimately, what is correct, what is happiness, what kind of world should human civilization aim for in the future? This complex and grand question may only be answered by Isenisha in a hundred years, and by that time, she would also have sufficient conviction and countless people following her.

"Our fleet shall blot out the sky, no matter how many Suns are up there."

Behind this statement lay dozens of Black Sun Crowns scattered across the Milky Way being sunk one by one by the federal fleet, responding to this misguided path with an iron and fire victory.
