Miss Witch Doesn't Want to be a Diva

Chapter 167 The Girl in the Crystal Pillar

When Tilan woke up from the immersive virtual reality once again, it was already 2 p.m.

Having missed lunch, she felt a bit hungry at this moment.

She climbed out of the immersion pod and lightly hopped off, stepping onto the quiet floor of the viewing hall. She looked around; the vast cabin was empty except for her. It seemed this section of the library wasn't very open to the public, and probably only new Songstresses would come here to study and experience.

Shaking her slightly dazed head, her consciousness quickly returned from the world of a thousand years ago, and then she headed for the door of the viewing hall.

The afternoon sun was dazzling, making the ground somewhat hot to touch. Walking upon the skyway, she raised her hands as if balancing on a tightrope. After playing like this for more than ten meters, she suddenly realized she might be acting a bit childish and then lowered her arms, looking around once more.

By now, most government agency employees would be busy at work, and not many people were walking outside. The skyway here was even more peaceful.@@novelbin@@

Acacia was still in a meeting and wouldn't finish work for another two hours, during which time Tilan could move around freely.

She walked through the intertwined corridors within the towering building, overlooking and gazing at the scenery of the planet.

The Circle dam-like structures stood on the earth like giant fortresses, with probably more than 800 floors, and the upper half of the buildings shrouded in mist, towering and majestic. Occasionally, Starships could be seen landing and taking off, drawing white lines across the clear blue sky, accompanied by drifting clouds.

This single structure occupied nearly a hundred million square meters, its straight and towering dark gold walls, and the glass exterior that reflected light, seemed like an endless sea of glass, dazzling to behold.

After walking and overlooking from the top floor for a while, and watching the still warm and beautiful Sun in the distance, Tilan decided to find an elevator to go down and grab some ice cream first.

Boarding the miniature shuttle, traveling through the layers of buildings and aerial tracks, Tilan arrived at the familiar plaza once again.

"What would you like to eat? We have freshly prepared various flavors of ice cream," said a chestnut-haired older sister standing within the shop. She wore a light brown uniform with an apron and glasses, smiling cheerfully.

"It's Little Tilan, visiting alone today," she said, clapping her hands with a smile upon seeing the girl in front of the shop.

The girl's gaze swept over the extensive menu, the abundance of options making it hard for her to choose anything specific.

"One Pomegranate Jade Stone ice cream, please." Her finger finally rested on one of the choices.

"Okay, just a moment," she lightly tapped the device behind her, a cone of ice cream falling down, which was soon automatically filled with white and green spiral cream. Then the chestnut-haired older sister took out a small cup of peeled pomegranate seeds, mixed evenly with green cubic ice, and sprinkled them on top of the ice cream cone.

"Here you go~"

"Thank you," said the girl as she took the ice cream, tasting it with delicate bites.

"Would you like to sit here for a while, Little Tilan?" The chestnut-haired older sister gestured to the bench under the shop's awning.

"Sure," the girl replied, sitting down with her cone before the relaxed shop assistant started a conversation with her.

"Is Acacia not accompanying Tilan today?"

"She has a meeting today, quite busy," the girl replied nonchalantly. She wasn't a child anymore, who needed to be accompanied all the time.

"I see, I thought a Songstress would be surrounded by many people. I didn't expect they had only arranged for her to accompany you," she mused.

"A crowd would only create chaos; I don't like it," the girl shook her head. Acacia had asked before if she wanted to find more people, but she had refused.

"Tilan has a very decisive personality," praised the shop assistant nearby.

"Decisive?" The girl paused while eating her ice cream and then continued.

In the past, she wasn't someone who had a strong will—she always found it hard to reject others' kindness or requests.

Because of this, her sister Temisia criticized her for not being competitive, which led to some minor conflicts between them.

Now, she had gradually gotten used to it. Maybe it was because she had become stronger and more self-confident, and serene; she could voice her dislikes and hates without hesitation, and could also stretch out her heart to do some things she had wanted to but never dared to before.

How quickly things change, she thought silently, a hint of joy rising in her heart. But Tilan was not the kind of person who liked to express her emotions outwardly. To others, it perhaps just seemed like her brow had become more relaxed and open.

The chatty shop assistant kept talking about the minor happenings within the Floral Crown Star Domain. Occasionally, Tilan would respond, and the two chatted this way until four in the afternoon when Acacia arrived at the square.

"Sorry to keep Tilan waiting," she said, hurrying over and waving to the girl who was still sitting under the sun shade.

"Acacia is off work." The chestnut-haired shop assistant also greeted her. Actually, she was Acacia's senior colleague.

"Good afternoon, Sister Olga." So, the chestnut-haired big sister who made ice cream was named Olga, the girl noted to herself.

The three of them made small talk at the ice cream shop for a while before Acacia took Tilan to a museum within the Floral Crown Star Domain, which had many artifacts and replicas from the Fifth Epoch.

Walking in the quiet and tidy hall, Tilan was drawn to the crystal columns gathered by the lights. Inside these columns were lifelike figures, almost identical to humans, beautiful in appearance, yet their bodies were different: some had wings on their backs, some had condensed gems on their foreheads, some had a fine layer of silver ice scales on their shoulders, and some had long tails.

"These are newly created species that were active during the Fifth Epoch," Acacia explained to Tilan.

"At one point, their overall numbers even exceeded those of ordinary humans, densely populating the world."

They walked past each crystal column and finally stopped in front of one that was pale gold. Inside, the encased figure had a beautiful appearance with light golden transparent wings on her back and a glowing halo on her head, like an angel from myths.

"This is a replica made in the image of Oxikasha. Isn't she as beautiful as the historical records describe?" Acacia introduced the angel to Tilan, its wings spread wide as if in silent slumber rather than death.

"Yes," Tilan nodded slightly, but she could not feel any remaining consciousness or soul. Such a replica was ultimately just an imitation of Oxikasha's appearance, not the real favored one.

"Do such species still exist today?" Tilan couldn't help but ask.

"They don't, Tilan."

"Do you still remember the federal definition of a human being?"

"Residents who are legally born in the country and have received primary education."

"All the newly emerged species from the Fifth Epoch were declared illegal, and any such genetic modifications or alterations are absolutely forbidden in the future. Even for a normal person, if they did not grow up in the normal environment of the federation, they will not be recognized as human."

"This law, from the very moment it was established, was meant to address everything that happened during the Fifth Epoch."

"It is the greatest respect we, as victors, can pay to the vanquished."
