Miss Witch Doesn't Want to be a Diva

Chapter 560 - 229: The Poison Sting of the Scarlet Rose

"The third round, first match, Crystal Lattice Academy, Klentchin, against Edith Academy, Sitasia."

The short intermission ended, and the third round of the competition began, this time it was Klentchin against Sitasia.

"Man, Klentchin is so lucky, he hasn't faced any of the top four talents in all three matches," someone lamented the kid's good fortune.

"He's been picking on the easy targets."

"Did Crystal Lattice Academy hack the tournament drawing system? All his matchups seem to be in his favor."

"Hahaha, that's a nice joke, but he'll still have to face them eventually. Though, it does make one wonder," the audience below discussed and laughed.

Klentchin, too, noticed the discussions in the crowd and touched his nose as he walked onto the stage. Honestly, he felt like his luck might've been a bit too good, perhaps the Academy really had a hand in it?

Forget it, no point thinking about that, he needed to focus on winning. Once he entered the battlefield, Klentchin concentrated fully.

Opposite him, Sitasia was standing, but she seemed weaker compared to before. After all, she had just been injured. Even if she had healed, there was substantial depletion, and she could probably only exert about 70% of her full strength now.

The usual strategies probably wouldn't work. Klentchin was very good at positional warfare. She needed to settle this quickly, Sitasia thought as she stepped onto the stage.

Dragging out the time would be disadvantageous. Her Blood Pupil Sequence was known for explosive power, and her body was still somewhat frail. The more the battle dragged on, the more this decline would show.

It had to be this way. After finalizing her tactics, the referee announced at the right moment.

"Begin the match!"

"Slaughter: Boiling Blood Blade!"

Almost simultaneously with the announcement, Sitasia's figure surged forward like a crimson streak, hurtling toward Klentchin a hundred meters away. Her pupils, blood-red, were fixed on Klentchin's every move, in a state of self-abandonment.

She dodged the piercing electric current Klentchin sent flying with a wave of his hand in nearly half a second, while her blood-red scythe was raised high. She struck down with all her might, right in front of Klentchin, giving him no chance to dodge or react.

And as Klentchin's crystal grid was just starting to deploy by his side, it exploded under the dark red edge of the blade, tearing open a fierce wound from his right shoulder to his left flank. The dark, bleeding wound curled outwards, flesh tearing open, nearly bisecting Klentchin at the waist.

After the strike, Sitasia staggered a few steps forward, leaning on her scythe to steady herself, while Klentchin lay on the ground, his eyes beginning to lose focus.

"Victory to Edith Academy!"

Sitasia, who had been at zero points, finally scored a win. As for Klentchin, suffering severe injuries, it was unlikely for him to stand a chance against any other opponents afterward.

After the first match ended, the arena erupted with cheers, followed by the second match, an internal battle at Saint Ingo Academy, Wokard against Maidi.

Their battle wasn't very spectacular. Though they exchanged blows, they were both restrained, being from the same school and familiar with each other. Ultimately, Wokard won. His assassin-like method of attack was difficult for Maidi, who was trained as a Songstress, to handle, putting her at a disadvantage.

Then came the time for the third match.

"Lelisa Academy, Seraphiel, against, Saint Ingo Academy, Sevia La!"

After the host's announcement, the arena filled with enthusiastic cheers. Everyone was highly anticipating the main event of the evening, their eyes fixed on both sides of the battlefield.

The two competitors seemed calm, walking into the battlefield at a measured pace. After the referee announced the start, they didn't move immediately but observed each other instead.

Gazing at Sevia La, who stood silently with dual swords, Seraphiel's eyes slightly closed, intently feeling the distinctive pressure from her opponent.

If Tilan was the pristine moon in the heavens, impenetrable and forever mysterious, then her opponent before her was like a fully drawn extraordinary longbow. That sharp intensity was restrained yet subtly palpable, enough to cause discomfort.

She would be formidable, one of those extraordinarily talented yet extremely hardworking individuals. She seemed to have trained and strived to overcome every weakness and maximize every strength to perfection, leaving nothing to criticize.

Even with the blessing of an angel and a talent and work ethic to match, Seraphiel dared not claim a sure victory over her opponent. There was still great danger, and a moment's inattention could lead to defeat.

Gripping her sword tightly, the pure white Holy Flame rose. Seraphiel watched her opponent as waves of flame spread out from beneath her feet. The terrifying heat waves rippled, blurring the space around her.

At that moment, Sevia La also took action. After observing Seraphiel for a few seconds, she vanished on the spot, causing her opponent to lose track of her position.

Just as Seraphiel was on high alert, expecting Sevia La to ambush her in some way, Sevia La's figure appeared in the sky.

Unlike usual, Sevia La did not engage in close combat with Seraphiel. Instead, she fluttered her wings slightly, standing in the night sky, and began chanting a cursing chant, which was rare for her.

In the night sky, crimson vortexes emerged, light sand of magic power circulating within them. Then the light solidified, and buds of crimson roses grew from the vortexes and bloomed.

With the sky at her back, Sevia La's wings beat gradually lengthened, no longer transparent. The butterfly wing patterns became eerily peculiar, with black and red threads that resembled roses—or eyes—overlooking everything below.

"This is..." Someone's mouth hung open slightly in surprise at the scene before them.

"It's so similar."

"Isn't this the special move that Temisia once used?" Finally, someone recognized the origin of this familiar sensation.

In the night sky, Sevia La spread her hands wide, and crimson roses grew from the petal-like sleeves. Then, black buds amidst the roses slowly elongated and extended, revealing two black sword blades with a slight curve.

"Annihilative Rose."

Then Sevia La flapped her wings, and all the crimson roses that had appeared in the sky scattered, with blood-red petals falling like a storm.

The pure white holy flame that surrounded Seraphiel immediately ignited the onslaught of rose petals, turning the shower of flowers into a sea of fire that engulfed the venue. Amidst the burning, countless flames also instantly vanished.

In the midst of the storm, Sevia La dove down, instantly splitting into seven figures, each attacking Seraphiel from different directions.

At this point, an array surrounded by angels suddenly lit up under Seraphiel's feet. The rise of the pure white light caused the close-attacking Sevia La's body to falter, and right after, Seraphiel also seized this opportunity to sweep with her holy sword, shattering three of Sevia La's figures.

However, the delay didn't last long, merely a second or two. Sevia La's figure flickered and changed, breaking free from the array's constraints. One of her shattered the array on the ground, one struck from above Seraphiel's head, one stabbed in with a pitch-black rose thorn blade from behind, and another traced an S-curve through the night sky, aiming straight for Seraphiel's neck.

In that fleeting moment, Seraphiel instinctively twisted her sword edge and swung her pure white blade aura, shattering the figure above her head, then the downward sweep of her sword edge shattered the figure at her side breaking the Array. Afterward, a Rose Thorn Blade pierced through her side's invisible barrier, stabbing into Seraphiel's back, and then Seraphiel parried again, blocking Sevia La coming from her side.

Fighting back the pain in her chest, Seraphiel burst forth with Holy Flame, repelling Sevia La in front of her, while the Thorn Blade in her chest turned, grinding her internal organs before the attacker retreated, avoiding Seraphiel's counterattack as she turned.

The two Sevia Las who had stepped back merged into one again, giving Seraphiel no chance to catch her breath. Their Dual Swords crossed, and then, as they clashed, one sword was released, allowing it to fly up, tracing an arc in the air before diving down again.

Sevia La, gripping a Rose Thorn Blade, engaged in rapid combat with Seraphiel. The pitch-black Thorn Blade was scorched by the Holy Sword, but the accompanying Annihilation and curse also greatly eroded the Holy Sword, dimming its light.

As the two were fully engrossed in battle, the thrown Thorn Blade attacked again, forcing Seraphiel to be momentarily distracted, attempting to push past Sevia La. Unfortunately, the opponent had timed this moment exactly, the dark blade moving a half beat slower, leaving Seraphiel with a difficult decision. If she tried forcefully to push Sevia La aside with her sword, she would be hit by the incoming Thorn Blade, but if she blocked the flying Thorn Blade, she would be struck by Sevia La.

Choosing the lesser of two evils, Seraphiel let out a loud shout and attacked with all her might, the boiling Holy Flame sweeping out, singeing the tips of Sevia La's hair and causing her Magic Attire to gradually fall apart, rendering her unable to resist any longer.

Just then, the attacking Thorn Blade also pierced into Seraphiel's right shoulder. Although it was immediately engulfed and burned by a white flame, the black Cursed Seal also spread across Seraphiel's shoulder, weakening the offensive of her Holy Sword.

The successful Sevia La remained composed, her butterfly wings flapping behind her, scattering red petals that temporarily suppressed the Holy Flame at Seraphiel's side, and then she withdrew her sword.

"Trimming Dual Swords: Flapping Wings."

A red streak traversed Seraphiel, leaving three deep, bone-visible wounds on her shoulder, the side of her thigh, and her back.

Even with the strong Healing Power of the Radiant Feather Sequence, the wounds inflicted by this cursed and Annihilative blade were difficult to heal quickly. Coupled with the Thorn Blade wound in her back from earlier, Seraphiel eventually succumbed to weakness and her wings behind gradually dissipated.

Not daring to risk how soon Seraphiel would recover, Sevia La, after performing the Wingsbeat Triple Instant Slash, soared into the sky and then dove down, her hands once again extending and growing two blood-red Rose Dual Swords, slashing towards Seraphiel's neck.

Struggling to channel her Magic Power, Seraphiel lifted her sword to block the descending blood-red blades and was pushed back, somersaulting, before several red streaks flashed across her body. One wrist was severed, an intersection of crimson wounds appeared on her chest, one leg was penetrated by the sword edge, and then a sword thrust through her throat.

Hot blood slowly trickled down, dyeing the pure white fabric red. Releasing the sword hilt, Sevia La watched the blood-covered Seraphiel in front of her step back a few paces, and only then could she be sure that she had completely defeated Seraphiel.

"Saint Ingo Academy is victorious!"
