Chapter 729: Snatch
Chapter 729: Chapter 729: Snatch
As the boss fell, Li Yao put down the bow he held in his hands. This was the closest the boss had ever come to him.
At the moment when the final blow could kill the boss, Li Yao did not dodge but let the boss draw near.
After teleporting behind him, Li Yao immediately used a turn-around shot, followed by a burst shot. The arm that was nearly touching Li Yao’s head like a sharp sword, grazed his hair and fell.
This was why everyone was stunned. It had been too risky. After all, a single attack from the boss could not only recover its health but also kill Li Yao.
But he did it anyway. He didn’t want someone else to steal the loot if he was too far away.
Li Yao quickly picked up the two pieces of loot from the fallen boss. The spectators didn’t even see what those items were.
...
However, the spectators were left sweating for Li Yao. It had been too risky. If he had failed, an hour’s worth of work would have been wasted.
Though they couldn’t see Li Yao’s condition, his sweat-drenched appearance said it all. He was utterly exhausted and his flying had become somewhat unsteady.
The Hell Battle Scorpion raced madly towards Li Yao. At the same time, many players with ill intentions were also rapidly closing in on Li Yao.
Without even looking, Li Yao knew his current predicament. Apart from the boss’s loot, other players would also be wondering if he had a unit blueprint on him.
Thankfully, Li Yao could fly. Although there were many players with ill intentions, at least he was safe with the members of Starfire.
“Let’s retreat to our base,” said Li Yao, fearing these players might be desperate enough to attack. Now was when players were bound to join forces. If they besieged them, even he, as confident as he was, wouldn’t be able to defeat so many people.
Thankfully, the journey was rather peaceful, and the group eventually made it back to base camp.
“You need to rest properly,” said Feng Yi.
“Yes, I need to sleep for three or four hours,” Li Yao waved his hand. “I’ll be at the base. If you guys aren’t tired, take my pets and earn merit. I reckon the players will leave this place soon. The mine now belongs to us, so it’s best to clear it out.”
“Alright, don’t worry about this. Get some rest.” After saying this, Li Jie led the others away. Li Yao lit a bonfire, put up a tent, and quickly fell asleep inside.
Although it was only for an hour and monster data was readily available, the constant quick deductions and calculations had exhausted his spiritual power. He needed a good rest to recover.
This rapid challenge had pushed him to his limits for the first time. Li Yao missed the sensitivity of a high-level player. Playing at his current level was truly painful.
When Li Yao stepped out of the tent again, there were no more monsters in sight.
“What’s the situation now? Have you reached the upper level?” Li Yao asked.
“Brother, you’re finally awake. It’s been six hours. We’ve already cleared out the monsters on the lower level and are almost done with the upper level. Give us half an hour more and we’ll be done. The mine output alone will massively boost our military merit,” said Dumb Eyes.
“Alright, I’ll be there soon.”
With the death of the teleportation demon, the power separating the upper and lower levels had disappeared.
Thanks to his connection with his pets, Li Yao was able to find his squad.
Following this, they swiftly cleared out the remaining monsters and collected a few more Silver Military Merit Medals.
As they left the mine, they felt as though they’d awakened from a dream.
“I thought we could take advantage of the situation at first, but we barely managed to get out. That was way too tense,” said the players, who, despite the terrible situation outside, felt like they’d had a narrow escape.
“There was no helping it. Initially, we thought it was just a medium-sized base but it turned out to be a large one. The teleportation demon was unexpectedly powerful and, combined with the competition from other players, securing this base was an unexpected win.” Li Jie sighed.
Femme Fatale nodded, “Now that we’ve got the benefits and the title, which increases our damage against demons, it’s not too bad here at least.”
“What I’m worried about now is whether our original plan can still be implemented or not. We’ve wasted too much time. I hope there won’t be any mishaps,” said Feng Yi as she glanced at Li Yao.
Li Yao also frowned slightly, “Let’s see what happens. I’m not even sure anymore. Now, the most important thing is to hope that nothing has gone wrong with our hidden tanks.”
“No worries. In another hour, Sister-in-law and Femme Fatale will be able to wear the Colonel Medal,” said Dumb Eyes seriously.
“Alright, let’s move out.” Li Yao urged on the Hell Battle Scorpion, which swiftly charged in the direction pointed out by Li Yao.
“Brother, don’t you want to say what we are going to do exactly? I’ve been pondering this for a long time but still can’t figure it out,” asked Dumb Eyes.
Li Yao smiled, “Alright, there’s really no harm in saying it now. I noticed an interesting base when we descended. If we can capture and restore it, our merit-earning would be as simple as turning over a bag.”
“Really? If that’s true, doesn’t it mean we are guaranteed to win?” Little Match excitedly chimed in.
“Although it’s not guaranteed, the odds are quite high. So, this plan cannot afford any mishaps.” Just as Li Yao was about to share more details, his expression suddenly changed.
“What happened?” asked Feng Yi.
“There are at least a hundred people ahead. Though they’re killing monsters, they seem to be investigating something. I have a bad feeling that these people are targeting us.” Li Yao looked slightly unsettled.
“No way.” Guardian Angel frowned.
“Let’s hope I’m overthinking this, but we should still remain cautious,” Li Yao reminded. “Be alert until we return to where the tanks are hidden. Be ready to fight at any time.”
“Their actions are not impossible. Starfire gained too much this time, especially the precious unit blueprint. If they kill us once, no matter who has the blueprint, it has a high chance of dropping,” said Females Fatale, her face serious.
“Yes, that’s the idea.”
Li Yao and his group continuously changed directions to avoid encountering players. However, no matter which direction they went, they always encountered players. Eventually, they ran into a team of a hundred players.
Surprisingly, the one leading them was Moray, the Paladin who proposed a bet with three purple equipment pieces and was despised by the members of Starfire.
Paladin Moray sneered, “It’s a small world. I didn’t think you would choose to come our way. Ha ha ha ha. Where’s the unit blueprint? Hand it over, or we’ll take it by force.”
“So, you really have teamed up. It seems my guess was correct.” Li Yao sighed.
“Hmph, a unit blueprint is not something a small guild like yours should have. Hand it over,” said Moray.
“Idiot, do you think that’s possible?” Guardian Angel straightforwardly started cursing, “You have no shame. You really think your guild is great.”
“Ha ha, you’re really naive. Okay, you’re also wasting our time. Let’s all do it, so we don’t have other people interfering.” Directly waving his hand, Moray…
What do you think?
