Chapter 167 - 167 167 So proactive (1)_1
Chapter 167: 167, So proactive (1)_1 Chapter 167: 167, So proactive (1)_1 “Sweetheart… Sweetheart, wake up. Where do you feel uncomfortable?” Quan Jingwu turns on the light, sits up, takes her into his arms, and softly coos to her.
“Sweetheart, wake up!” Quan Jingwu gently calls out to Jian Qing, but to no avail, as Jian Qing keeps her eyes tightly shut, unresponsive to his calls.
“Jing… I feel uncomfortable…” Her lush lips lose their color, cold sweat appears on her smooth forehead, and the icy temperature of her hands makes Quan Jingwu’s face grim.
Quan Jingwu carefully puts her down, picks up his phone, and dials a number.
“Shen Hao, get the hospital prepared.”
Shen Hao, who was half awake, hears Quan Jingwu’s cold voice and suddenly fully wakes up, responding instantaneously.
“Yes!”
Hospital?
Has something happened to his wife?
Shen Hao’s first reaction is that something has happened to Jian Qing. Without wasting any time, he quickly gets up and dresses.
Quan Jingwu throws his phone aside, gets up and quickly finds clothes from the wardrobe. After he changes his clothes, he picks up Jian Qing and swiftly heads downstairs.
Thankfully, Jian Qing usually wore casual clothes, otherwise Quan Jingwu wouldn’t know how to change her.
“Sweetheart, don’t be afraid… don’t be afraid…” As he places Jian Qing in the back seat, Quan Jingwu wipes the cold sweat from her forehead, his low voice revealing an almost imperceptible panic.
“I’m here, I’m here!”
Jian Qing’s normally fair face is abnormally pale. At this moment, she seems as fragile as a porcelain doll, about to shatter at the slightest touch.
After securing her seatbelt, Quan Jingwu starts the car without delay and heads straight to the hospital.
On the way, Quan Jingwu breaks countless traffic laws, and the car halts abruptly outside the hospital.
“Boss!”
Shen Hao has been waiting at the hospital’s entrance. Upon seeing Quan Jingwu exit the vehicle, he rushes forward to meet him.
Quan Jingwu carefully lifts Jian Qing from the back seat and quickly moves towards the hospital. Shen Hao trails beside them. Seeing Jian Qing in such a weakened state for the first time gives him quite a scare.
The doctor is already waiting. Today, it’s Weng Ya on duty. Seeing Jian Qing’s pale face, she quickly instructs Quan Jingwu to bring her into the examination room and asks him to wait outside.
Outside the examination room, Quan Jingwu’s purple eyes are shadowed with worry. He leans against the wall, emanating an aura of gloom. Shen Hao shifts a few steps away from him to avoid the unpleasant atmosphere.
Stealing a glance at him, Shen Hao unintentionally senses a slight trembling from his distinctly defined fingertips. He sighs inwardly. The transformative power of love is truly miraculous.
The otherwise arrogant and unbridled boss actually fears something; it’s simply unbelievable.
Not long after, the examination room door opens and Weng Ya, removing her face mask, emerges.
“Aunt San, how is she?”
Quan Jingwu’s look of concern is directed at Weng Ya, urgency lacing his voice.
Weng Ya, witnessing Quan Jingwu’s unusual moment of vulnerability for the first time, gently speaks, “She has acute gastroenteritis. It’s likely due to her eating too many cold foods in the past few days. Jian Qing’s body naturally runs cold; she shouldn’t consume too much stimulating food.”
Upon hearing this, his eyelids weigh down further, “I see. How is my sweetheart feeling now?”
“She must rest for the next few days and needs to pay attention to her diet. I’ve arranged for a room in the ward. She’ll have to stay in the hospital for a couple of days,” Weng Ya explains.
Quan Jingwu nods in agreement. Shortly after, a few nurses wheel out Jian Qing’s hospital bed. Quan Jingwu accompanies her all the way while Shen Hao is tasked with handling the paperwork.
Shen Hao efficiently arranges everything, even securing a lavish VIP ward on the 20th floor, which is as opulent as a Presidential Suite.
After finishing all the processes, Shen Hao leaves, leaving only Quan Jingwu and Jian Qing in the ward.
Quan Jingwu sits beside the hospital bed, his gaze resting on the sleeping woman. Her slumber seems somewhat restless, her eyebrows persistently scrunched.
Linking his fingers with hers, his elevated heart finally settles. Quan Jingwu leans towards her forehead and places a kiss, “Sweetheart, I’m here with you. Don’t be afraid!”
The moonlight outside is faint, but his anxious heart makes the night seem incredibly long.
…
The next day, at 7 o’clock.
Jian Qing slowly opens her eyes. The white ceiling greets her gaze, followed by an IV bottle, an IV tube, and her hand feeling restrained. She looks over and sees a devilishly handsome man.
“Sweetheart, are you still uncomfortable somewhere?”
His voice is soft as if afraid to scare her.
Jian Qing shakes her head gently, then glances at the faint shadow under his eyes and the slightly creased brow. “Jing…”
The moment she opens her mouth, her voice comes out as a hoarse murmur.
“Don’t move, I’ll get you some water.” Quan Jingwu softly replies, and quickly gets up to fetch water.
Jian Qing gives a slight nod and looks at his retreating figure, a faint smile curving upon her lips.
He helps her sit up and inserts a soft pillow behind her. The cup has a straw in it, and he brings the straw to her lips.
Jian Qing takes the straw into her mouth, the cool water soothingly sliding down her throat, alleviating the uncomfortable feeling.
As she takes sips of the water, she observes his expression. Unspoken, she knows why she ended up in the hospital—it feels similar to the last time she had stomach pain.
The culprit, of course, is all the ice cream and snacks at home.
After setting down the cup, Quan Jingwu looks at her but stays silent.
A bit intimidated under his gaze, Jian Qing lifts the hand not connected to the IV drip and twines his fingers with hers, “Jing, I was wrong.”
As soon as she opens her mouth, she sincerely admits her mistake.
“What did you do wrong?” Despite her holding his hand, he asks with a blank expression.
Jian Qing drops her gaze and whispers, “I shouldn’t have disobeyed you. I shouldn’t have eaten so much ice cream and snacks.”
Quan Jingwu lowers his eyes to her small head. Confronted with her feeble state, he can’t help but feel a certain softness in his heart.
With a faint sigh of resignation, he asks, “Sweetheart, what should I do with you?”
He cannot discipline her by scolding or beating, much less say harsh words to her.
Jian Qing lifts her head to meet his bloodshot eyes and, feeling a pang of guilt, asks, “Jing, why didn’t you rest last night?”
“How could I dare to sleep when a certain dummy hadn’t woken up!” Quan Jingwu retorts with a light smirk, playfully tapping her forehead.
Feeling embarrassed, Jian Qing quickly changes the topic, “Then you better get up here and rest.”
The bed in the VIP ward is quite large – spacious enough for both of them.
“Being so proactive?” Seeing her in a better mood, Quan Jingwu lightens up enough to tease her.
Knowing she’s at fault, Jian Qing doesn’t indulge him and taps the spot next to her, “Love it or leave it.”
Quan Jingwu walks around to the other side of the bed, takes off his shoes, and climbs onto the bed. He carefully takes her into his arms, allowing her to rest her head on his strong arm.
His jaw brushes against her hair as he asks gently, “Are you hungry?”
Jian Qing shakes her head; she doesn’t have much of an appetite right now.
Nestled in his embrace, Jian Qing quickly falls asleep again. Having been awake all night, Quan Jingwu also soon collapses into sleep with her in his arms.
What do you think?
