Chapter 172: 172, Visit to Hidden Orchid Temple (3)_1 Chapter 172: 172, Visit to Hidden Orchid Temple (3)_1 “Jian Qing is a wonderful person. You will surely like her once you meet her.”
“What you just said makes me eager to meet her in person now.” Song Xirou said softly, a shadow flickering in her eyes.
“There will be an opportunity.” Mrs. Quan diverted the topic, “Xirou, have your lunch here today, Yixuan and the rest are not coming back, it’s only Rhee and I.”
“Okay, I’ll stay to get a free meal!” Song Xirou winked, laughing cheerfully.
“Third Young Master!”
The servant’s voice came from outside the door. Song Xirou’s eyes flashed slightly as she suppressed the turmoil in her heart.
“It must be Jingwu.”
No sooner had Mrs. Quan’s words fallen, Quan Jingwu appeared at the door the next second.
In a corner unnoticed, affectionate love surfaced in Song Xirou’s eyes, which was quickly concealed.
Three years. She hadn’t seen him for three whole years!
He was still as he used to be – cold, yet compelling.
“Grandma!” Quan Jingwu called out indifferently, seeming not to notice Song Xirou at all.
“Hmm, are you off work? They said you had Shen Hao send the files to Shijin Haoting these past two days.”
“Hmm, I went to the company to pick up some files, and came here for soup on the way.” Quan Jingwu replied calmly.
“Jingwu, long time no see.” Song Xirou greeted him with a slight smile.
Only then did Quan Jingwu glance at her, with no recollection of her in memory.
Seeing Quan Jingwu’s demeanor, Mrs. Quan knew he must not remember who Xirou was, so she quickly intervened, “Jingwu, this is Xirou, the one who saved Grandma three years ago.”
Quan Jingwu responded with a nonchalant hum.
At this time, Rhee also came out with a food box, “Jingwu, you’re here.”
“Mom!” Quan Jingwu took the food box from her.
“How’s Little Qingqing, all better?” Rhee asked worriedly.
Mentioning Jian Qing, Quan Jingwu’s cold voice softened slightly, “Almost.”
“Then tell her that I’ll visit her tomorrow and bring her some good food.” Rhee said with a bright smile, her violet eyes similar to Quan Jingwu’s.
“Don’t bring ice cream and snacks.” Quan Jingwu warned coldly.
Used to his cold looks, Rhee huffed, “I know, I’m not a three-year-old.”
Thinking of his sweetheart waiting at home, Quan Jingwu quickly prepared to leave with his food box, “I’ll go first.”
“Off you go.” Rhee said, impatiently shooing him off.
Indeed, raising a son is like raising a husband for someone else.
Watching Quan Jingwu’s retreating figure, Song Xirou was somewhat lost in thought, a suffocating feeling rising in her heart.
He hadn’t even looked at her directly from start to finish.
Was she so insignificant in his eyes?
“Xirou, Xirou–”
Upon hearing Mrs. Quan calling her, Song Xirou came back to her senses, suppressing the gloom in her eyes, “Grandma Quan, what’s wrong?”
“Xirou, are you alright? You look a bit unwell!” Mrs. Quan said with concern.
She shook her head and said softly with a smile, “I’m fine. It’s probably because I took a flight back yesterday and didn’t sleep well due to the jet lag.”
Rhee walked over, her gaze fleetingly glancing at Song Xirou. She couldn’t shake the uneasy feeling that something was about to happen.
“Why don’t you go home and rest first?” Mrs. Quan suggested with worry.
“No, I’ll be fine.” A thought struck Song Xirou, “Grandma Quan, let’s go to the Hidden Orchid Temple in the outskirts in a couple of days.”
Mrs. Quan was accustomed to visiting Hidden Orchid Temple to offer incense and pray to Buddha. Song Xirou’s suggestion was truly pleasing to her.
“Do you also like to go there?”
“Yes, my mom and I used to go there a lot. But I haven’t been back these few years so I haven’t been. I’ve heard that it’s very serene.”
Mrs. Quan nodded with a smile, “Indeed. Quan Yifei and I go there every year.”
“Why don’t we invite Yifei this time as well, and we can also invite Jingwu’s girlfriend!” Song Xirou suggested.
Rhee was slightly taken aback, “We’ll have to ask Jingwu about that.”
Mrs. Quan also knew that her grandson was now living with Jian Qing. Considering Jingwu’s personality, it might be difficult to ask him to let her join them.
Rhee, why don’t you ask Little Qing directly. As long as she agrees, Jingwu won’t object.”
Rhee, “Alright, I’ll call her and ask tonight.”
“Then it’s settled. Grandma Quan, we’ll go together then.” Song Xirou showed a gentle smile and said softly.
Mrs. Quan, “Okay.”
Rhee leaned against the sofa, her gaze faintly resting on Song Xirou. She didn’t show any extreme reactions when she heard that Jingwu had a girlfriend, and even enthusiastically invited Jian Qing. Was she being sincere or pretending?
Song Xirou was chatting amiably with Mrs. Quan, sometimes making her laugh aloud. From a distance, they seemed to be a perfectly harmonious family.
…
At night, the starry sky was beautiful.
The room was lit with warm lights, emanating a faint sense of coziness.
Quan Jingwu opened the door to find Jian Qing lying on the bed. Her short skirt revealed her slender and fair legs, stirring up his desires.
He lay down beside her. Jian Qing didn’t lift her head, but casually asked, “Are you done with work?”
“Hmm.” Quan Jingwu closed his eyes and rubbed his brow. Jian Qing glanced at him. Seeing his tired face, she put down her tablet, leaned in, and asked, “What’s wrong? Are you not feeling well?”
“I’ve been looking at files for a few hours, and I have a headache.” Quan Jingwu said in his deep voice.
Jian Qing replied with an ‘oh’, not wanting to disturb his rest, she turned quietly to continue browsing on her tablet. To her surprise, he suddenly grabbed her, and in one move, flipped her under him.
He looked down at her, a slight smirk on his lips, “That’s it? No show of concern?”
Jian Qing raised an eyebrow and said coolly, “I saw you were somewhat exhausted, didn’t want to disturb your rest.”
“I am tired. What do you intend to do to reward me?” His deep purple eyes stared down at her, his deep voice captivating.
The corners of Jian Qing’s lips quivered, “Sir, is this your state of fatigue?”
“Mmm, very tired.” He shamelessly replied.
Jian Qing looked at him and calmly said, “If you’re tired, you should rest early.”
This answer, Master Jing was very unsatisfied with.
He leaned closer, resting his forehead against hers, “Sweetheart, how you intend to let me rest, huh?”
Jian Qing cleverly shifted her eyes, pushed him away, moved atop him, then pulled the blanket over him, “I’ll cover you with the blanket, then you can sleep peacefully.”
As soon as she finished speaking, she grabbed the tablet and quickly hopped down from the bed, sprinting to the couch in a few bounds.
Sleep peacefully?
Why does that phrase sounds so strangely fitting?
Quan Jingwu threw off the blanket, got down from the bed, and walked over. Jian Qing shrinked to the corner of the couch, “What are you doing here? Weren’t you tired and wanting to rest?”
“You little imp!” Quan Jingwu stretched out his arms and hoisted her into his lap.
Jian Qing found a comfortable position in his lap, then remembered about the phone call from Rhee, “There’s something I want to tell you. Your mom just called me. She asked if I wanted to go to Hidden Orchid Temple in the outskirts.”
What do you think?
