Chapter 38 Peak of Tier I 3
Leon and Luna emerged from the murky depths of the swamp dungeon, both visibly worn but triumphant. As they inspected the spoils, Leon studied the items carefully before handing them to Luna.
"Here," he said, passing over the Swamp Wraith Cloak, Grimoire of Forbidden Rites, and the Bogling Familiar Summoning Stone. "These suit you better; they'll enhance your stealth and magic skills."
Luna looked at him, surprised. "You're just giving these to me?"
Leon shrugged, a small smile tugging at his lips. "Consider it an investment in keeping us both alive. Besides," he added, holding up his own rewards, "No, choose any you want."
Luna nodded as she soon selected he items as Leon got charity rebate from her.
He held up the Swamp Lord Summoning Stone and the Wraith Lord Cloak, each pulsing faintly with dark energy. 'These should give us an edge when dealing with any more of those dark-aligned creatures.' he thought looking at his inventory.
With their new gear and loot packed away, they exchanged a nod, a silent acknowledgment of their strengthened partnership. They were ready to press forward, each now carrying an arsenal to face even more formidable foes ahead.
As the two of them stood at the edge of the swamp, the air thick with the scent of damp earth and lingering magic, they began their journey back toward the nearby town. The sun had begun to set, casting a deep orange glow over the landscape, and the atmosphere felt eerie in the fading light. They needed to rest and plan their next move.
Luna pulled her cloak tighter around her shoulders, the Swamp Wraith Cloak fitting snugly against her frame. The dark fabric seemed to shimmer, offering a subtle sense of concealment. It would be invaluable against any more dark-aligned creatures they might face.
Leon, on the other hand, adjusted his Wraith Lord Cloak. The cloak seemed to hum with a faint, ethereal energy, a reminder of the powerful undead it had once belonged to. It was heavier than it appeared, the cloth stitched with intricate runes that whispered of ancient power. With his newfound abilities, Leon felt the power of the cloak working its magic.
"Tomorrow, we'll test these out," Leon said as they walked in silence, the faint crunch of their boots on the ground the only sound in the stillness.
Luna nodded but said nothing, her attention focused on the Bogling Familiar Summoning Stone she had tucked in her pouch. The small creature that it summoned could provide them with valuable information or even help in battle. The thought of a new companion made her smile faintly.
They reached the outskirts of the town as night fully descended, the distant glow of lanterns lighting the path. They found an abandoned building on the edge of the village—a quiet, secluded spot to set up camp for the night.
Luna made a fire with a few twigs and dried leaves, the warmth cutting through the chill in the air. Leon set up their bedrolls, and the two of them sat down to eat, the roasted fish from earlier now cold but still satisfying.
As the fire crackled and the darkness pressed in around them, Leon felt the weight of their situation pressing on him. They were getting stronger, but so were their enemies. The Grimoire of Forbidden Rites was a potent tool, but it was also dangerous. He would need to study it carefully, perhaps even learn from it, but at the same time, he couldn't afford to let its dark magic consume him.
"We'll head out at first light," he said, breaking the silence. "The next dungeon is just a few miles north. We're not done yet."
Luna didn't respond immediately, her eyes lost in thought. Finally, she spoke, her voice soft but steady. "We need to be careful, Leon. We're getting stronger, but so are they. And the more powerful we become, the more attention we'll attract."
Leon nodded. "I know. But we've come this far. We can't stop now."
With that, they both settled into their bedrolls, the fire crackling softly between them. The night was long, filled with the sounds of distant creatures stirring in the dark. Yet, despite the uncertainty that lay ahead, they both knew one thing for sure: whatever came next, they would face it together.

Dawn broke with a soft glow, casting golden light over the town's edge. Leon and Luna stirred from their rest, refreshed but alert as they packed up their belongings. The Swamp Wraith Cloak and Wraith Lord Cloak felt like extensions of themselves now, the faint power within them radiating a sense of readiness. Luna held her Bogling Familiar Summoning Stone, an eager glint in her eye—today, they'd try out their new abilities and see just how well these enchanted items could serve them.
As they ventured northward, the landscape began to change subtly. The air grew thicker, tinged with the scent of boggy marshes, and the path narrowed, lined by twisting trees that loomed like silent guardians. The swamp stretched out before them, murky and foreboding, but with each step, they felt more prepared.
Leon paused, pulling the Grimoire of Forbidden Rites from his satchel. The cover was ancient, rough with runes that seemed to shimmer faintly. "I need to learn what I can from this before we dive in," he murmured, flipping through the pages, each one inked with spells of forbidden power. He was cautious—just enough to glean an edge in dark magic without risking too much.
Meanwhile, Luna ran her fingers over the Bogling Summoning Stone before holding it aloft, murmuring the summoning incantation. The stone glowed, pulsing, and a small creature materialized—a Bogling, with dark, wet skin, gleaming yellow eyes, and a curious expression. It peered up at her, chirping softly.
"Looks like we have a scout now," she said, grinning as she knelt down. "Go on, little one. Scout ahead and let us know if anything's hiding in the shadows."@@novelbin@@
The Bogling bounded forward, agile and quiet, disappearing into the dense foliage. Leon and Luna continued, moving carefully as they followed the Bogling's path. As they reached a clearing, Leon felt the energy shift, a telltale sign of an entry point to a dungeon.
What do you think?
