Chapter 5: The First Day of Class – A New Beginning

The next day, the air around U.A. High was buzzing with excitement. Students who had passed the Entrance Exam were eager to see what awaited them in the next phase of their journey. Izuku Midoriya had barely slept the night before, replaying the obstacle course in his mind over and over again. He had made it through, but it wasn’t enough to just pass. He needed to continue improving, to push himself further.

"I did it. I really did it." Izuku thought to himself, his heart swelling with pride. But that was short-lived. The weight of the upcoming challenges hung over him like a dark cloud. He had to stay focused.

He was standing outside of the classroom, 1-A, waiting for the bell to ring. He wasn't sure what to expect, but he knew this was going to be the beginning of something huge.

"I hope today goes well." Izuku smiled nervously as the bell rang, signaling the start of his first official day at U.A. High.

As the students entered the classroom, they were greeted by the sight of their classmates, all of whom had passed the exam. Some were confident, others anxious, but the general atmosphere was one of excitement and anticipation.

"Looks like everyone’s here," Izuku said, walking into the room. He saw Bakugo and Todoroki already seated in the back, seemingly uninterested in the new environment, while Momo and Iida were chatting in the front.

The rest of the students took their seats, and there was a moment of silence before the door to the classroom swung open.

“Good morning, class,” came a voice, gruff yet commanding.

In walked their homeroom teacher, Shota Aizawa, the same instructor who had overseen their entrance exam. He looked as disheveled as ever, his red eyes half-lidded and his hair a mess. His appearance alone had the power to make the students straighten up.

Aizawa scanned the room, not a single word spoken, before he finally broke the silence.

“This is your first day as U.A. students. Don’t get too comfortable. You’ll be training hard and there’s no time to waste. I’ll be your instructor, Aizawa, and you’d better not forget it. We’ll get to know each other as the days go on, but for now, I’m only concerned with one thing: whether you’re capable of becoming heroes.”

The students glanced at one another, unsure of what to make of the teacher’s harsh introduction. But one thing was clear—Aizawa wasn’t here to sugarcoat anything. He would push them to their limits.@@novelbin@@

“Your first class starts now. We’re going to start with your first training session.” Aizawa tossed something toward the front of the classroom.

"What the—" Izuku caught it in his hands, surprised to find a small, circular training ball. "We’re going to start with the Soft Ball Throw."

The students were caught off guard. "Is this really the first lesson?" Izuku thought, looking at the ball in his hands.

Aizawa’s voice snapped them out of their thoughts. “You’ll throw this as far as you can using your quirks. If you can’t do that, then you won’t even make it to the next step. I want to see how well you can control your abilities.”

The students stood frozen for a moment, still processing the shift from classroom to training. “A ball throw? Seriously?” Bakugo muttered under his breath, but his expression didn’t change, already eager to get started.

Aizawa stood back, arms crossed as he watched the class prepare. “One at a time. When you’re ready, throw the ball. It’s that simple.”

The first student to step forward was Izuku Midoriya. His hands were shaking as he held the ball, but he quickly regained his focus. He couldn't afford to mess up.

“I’m using my wind sword to enhance the throw…” Izuku thought, closing his eyes for a moment. He focused, channeling the wind around him.

The wind picked up as Izuku held the ball aloft. He threw it, using his wind quirk to push the ball faster and farther. The ball soared through the air, leaving a visible trail behind it. Izuku stared, wide-eyed, as the ball landed with a distant thud.

“Not bad, Midoriya,” Aizawa commented, his voice devoid of emotion but still acknowledging the effort. “Your wind control is improving, but don’t get cocky. Next.”

Todoroki was up next. Without much fanfare, he raised his left hand, a sheet of ice forming around the ball. He threw it, using his ice to propel it forward at a tremendous speed. The ball shot forward, disappearing into the horizon.

“Impressive,” Aizawa said, nodding. “You’ve got speed and control. Next.”

Bakugo was already smirking, ready to show off. He stepped forward and launched the ball with an explosion so intense that the shockwave nearly knocked the students back. The ball flew at an incredible velocity, disappearing in a flash.

“As expected of you, Bakugo,” Aizawa said, nodding his approval, though his tone was still stern. “No one will catch up to that.”

The other students each had their turn. Some struggled with control, while others were able to throw the ball with impressive strength or speed, but each time, Aizawa observed without saying much. He was calculating their potential, their mastery of their quirks, and how they applied them.

“Well, that’s it for the Soft Ball Throw,” Aizawa said after everyone had taken their turn. “We’ll move on to the next training exercise later. But for now, take a break and think about what you just did.”

As the students began to gather their things and talk amongst themselves, Izuku couldn’t help but feel a little more confident. He had been nervous about the test, but seeing his classmates, especially Bakugo and Todoroki, succeed had given him the courage to push himself harder.

“I need to keep working on my control,” Izuku thought. “There’s so much more to do, but this is just the beginning.”

Aizawa watched them quietly as they conversed, his cold gaze never leaving them. "You’ve got potential, but you’re still far from being real heroes."
