During this time, he was plagued with scandal, and it all revolved around his past relationship with Xiang Yirou. But even though Lu Weixi acted unaware in his presence, he could tell she minded. Even when she defended him in front of her own mother, he could sense a coldness and aloofness in her comments.

Although he got beaten up that day, he saw Lu Weixi crying for him, worrying about him, and even standing by his side afterward. Such concern from her was a rare sight. He was finally becoming a part of her world.

Thinking about it this way, he actually owed some gratitude to the guys who beat him up. Perhaps if they had bruised him a bit more, she would have cared for him even more?

Seeing she was busy with work, he didn’t want to disturb her.

He cautiously stood up. Although his injuries were not severe, getting kicked and hit still hurt. He clenched his teeth, not making a sound, and quietly snuck down the bed. Putting on his slippers, he fetched a bottle of water from a nearby plastic bag as quietly as possible, trying not to disturb her with the rustling noise of the bag.

Then he unscrewed the bottle cap, made a few steps forward and reached the light switch next to her. Planning to turn on the lights for her and provide her with another bottle of water.

Just as he moved forward, Lu Weixi turned her head, “Why did you get up?”

Oh no, he was supposed to give her the bottle silently and then leave. Qin Zhiyou shook his head, “It’s nothing. I saw you reading some documents and your water was finished, so I thought I could turn on the lights and fetch you some water.”

Lu Weixi quickly stood up, taking the bottle from his hands and supporting him. But barely a few steps later, the bottle cap popped off and water was spilled on both of them.

Lu Weixi was taken aback and sidestepped instinctively. She pushed him backward and he stumbled onto the edge of the bed, falling down again.

There was nothing sexy about this situation for Qin Zhiyou. Lu Weixi basically fell on top of him. His back had turned all black and blue from the beating, and now, an accidental fall onto the bed added to his pain.

Realizing what happened, Lu Weixi got up quickly, but Qin Zhiyou grabbed her arm: “I’m fine.”

Although he claimed he was fine, the frown on his face betrayed his true feelings, he was clearly in great pain.

“No need. Really, no need.” Qin Zhiyou shook his head and rubbed his back, “It’s just a small issue. Could you please take a look?”

Lu Weixi nodded, “Okay.”

Then she gently lifted his shirt.

When Qin Zhiyou had his wounds dressed before, she waited outside and did not see. Now that she lifted his shirt, she saw the several layers of bandages wrapped around his back, reminding her of a martial arts novel character. There was even a faint trace of blood seeping through the bandage. Obviously, those guys hit not only his head with their bats, but his back too, leaving bloody wound marks behind.

This was the area covered with bandages. The unbandaged area was also swollen and blue, bloating up much like a bun. There was also a strong smell of different medicines, making the sight a pathetic one.
