Chapter 555: A Sneak Attack
"Sir and Madam, rooms 1001 and 1002 are yours," an inn staff member said, pointing to the two adjoining rooms with a gentle smile.
Leon gave a small nod and took out two silver coins from his pocket.
"Thank you for guiding us," he said lightly, handing the coins to the staff member.
The staff's face lit up, and he bowed deeply toward Leon, overjoyed.
"Thank you, sir! Thank you very much!"
Two silver coins were equivalent to two months of his salary!
He hadn't expected to get so lucky just by showing them to their rooms.
If his friends found out, he was sure they would be green with envy.
Leon simply smiled in response. Soon after, the staff member hurried away, leaving Leon and Elina behind.
"Sir, you're too kind," Elina said, her voice tinged with regret.
She had to run her stall for days just to earn a few bronze coins, while Leon so easily gave away two silver coins just for being shown to their room.
It would be a lie to say she wasn't a little envious.
"It's fine. I have plenty of money, and I don't mind helping people around me," Leon replied gently.
Elina fell silent, then let out a soft sigh. She had to admit, Leon was the kindest person she had met since fleeing her hometown.
"By the way, Elina," Leon said, rubbing his chin as he looked at her. "Can you not call me 'sir'? I'm only twenty-four, and it feels weird being called that. Just call me something else."
Although there was no rule against men in their twenties or thirties being called "sir," it still sounded too old to him.
After all, he was a young man full of energy, not someone past thirty.
Elina blinked and asked, "In that case, what should I call you, Fated One?"
Leon thought for a moment before finally saying, "Just call me by my name. Well, if that feels too impolite, you can call me young master. That sounds more comfortable."
"Okay." Elina smiled sweetly. "I'll call you young master, then."
"Good!" Leon chuckled in satisfaction and subconsciously patted her head.
Elina's body stiffened for a moment, but she quickly relaxed and closed her eyes.
His touch was so comforting that she felt intoxicated by it.
Realizing what he had done, Leon cleared his throat awkwardly.
"Ahem! Sorry, Elina. I got carried away," he said, trying to stay composed.
He hadn't expected his habit of head-patting to kick in so easily. Well, he also couldn't deny that Elina was very cute, reminding him of his four little girls.
Elina's face turned red as she quickly pulled up her hood to cover it.
"Um... It's okay, young master. It's my fault too," she said shyly.
Leon took a deep breath to calm himself and smiled again.
"Well then, let's get some rest. Tomorrow morning, we'll continue our journey."
"Okay..."
With that, the two took their room keys and entered their respective rooms.
***
"Huh... Everything feels like a dream."
In the hot spring pool, Elina pursed her lips and stared at the ceiling.
Just a few days ago, she had been living in hardship. But now, she had everything.
Delicious food, a luxurious place to stay, and so much more—all given to her by the one person she never thought she'd meet again: Leon.
The last time they crossed paths was a year ago in Rothinya City. She never expected to run into him again like this.
Was this fate?
"But it's still hard to believe he's the Fated One—the one mentioned in the prophecy. If my sister knew I was with him, she'd be so happy."
Just imagining her sister's reaction made her feel a little excited.
Her sister was always serious, gentle, and strict. It was rare to catch her off guard or surprised.
"Phew..." Elina let out a long sigh as she slowly stood up.
Her two large breasts, out of proportion with her petite frame, looked striking and would have been irresistible to any man.
Fortunately, no one was there to see.
She walked over to the side of the room, picked up a towel, and gently dried her wet body.
This was the first time she had been able to enjoy a hot spring since arriving in human territory.
Previously, she had always bathed in the river near the outskirts. After all, there were no public baths in that area.
Even if there had been, she wouldn't have wanted to bathe with others.
Despite her poverty, she was still a high elf with a strong sense of pride.
After wrapping herself in a towel, she walked out of the private hot spring room and made her way to the closet.
Inside, she found a surprising variety of clothes.
"Is this the service you get when you rent the most expensive room in this inn?" she murmured in admiration.
The closet held everything from casual dresses to outfits for going out.
What surprised her even more was that they were all tailored to her size!
For the first time, she truly felt that the money Leon spent was well worth it.
She picked a black nightgown and slipped it on.
The gown fit her perfectly, and she felt a sense of satisfaction. Just as she was about to tie up her long hair, there was a knock on the door, followed by Leon's voice.
"Elina, are you still awake? I need to talk to you about something."
Elina was clearly startled by the sound of his voice. She glanced at the clock, which read midnight, and blinked in confusion.
"It's almost midnight. What could the Fated One want to talk about?" she muttered, frowning.
If Leon really had something to say, he should have mentioned it before they went to their separate rooms.
For some reason, Elina couldn't shake the feeling that something was off about all this.
Pushing the thought aside, she focused on tying her hair and called out, "Wait a moment, Young Master. I'm getting dressed."
Once she finished, she walked toward the door but hesitated before opening it.
"Young Master, are you still there?" She asked cautiously.
There was silence for a few seconds before Leon's voice finally responded.
"I'm still here, Elina."
Elina let out a quiet sigh of relief and slowly opened the door to her room.
To her surprise, Leon wasn't there. Her eyes widened, a foreboding feeling creeping over her.
Before she could react, a chill brushed against the back of her neck, followed by the sharp pressure of a knife on the right side of her throat.
A moment later, a man's cold voice came from behind her.
"Hehehe... You are very careless, Miss Elf."
What do you think?
