Chapter 554: The Art of Spending Money - Part 2
"Wow... the food is really delicious. I'm so full."
Elina tapped her slightly rounded belly and smiled brightly.
It was the first time she had eaten so well and felt truly satisfied.
Usually, she only ate just enough to fill her empty stomach.
Whether she was full or not didn't matter—what was important was having enough energy to run her fortune-telling stall.
But now, she didn't have to worry about that anymore. Thanks to Leon and the pile of gold coins he had given her, she could eat anything she wanted!
It was a blessing she had never expected.
Leon simply smiled at her adorable behavior.
He wiped his lips with a napkin and asked, "By the way, did you stay at an inn while you were in Morvhal?"
Elina smiled awkwardly and shook her head.
"No, sir," she replied. "I didn't stay in an inn, but in my tent. I barely had enough money for food, let alone to rent a room."
The cost of living in Morvhal was much higher than in Rothinia.
While ten bronze coins could get a decent room in Rothinia, that amount wasn't nearly enough in Morvhal.
It would take fifty bronze coins just to get a room of similar quality. And it wasn't just the inns—food, drinks, and other necessities were also much more expensive.
Honestly, she had been furious and frustrated by the price difference. It made her life even harder.
However, she understood that Rothinia and Morvhal simply couldn't be compared.
One was just a border city, while the other was the capital of the prosperous southern region. Like it or not, she had to swallow that bitter reality.
As if expecting her reaction, Leon nodded slowly and said, "Alright, I understand. Tonight, we'll stay at an inn. Tomorrow morning, we'll head to the city of Lysoria, the closest to the Forest of Eternal Silence."
Hearing that, Elina simply nodded without any objection.
Since she had already decided to accompany him to the Elven territory, she had no reason to oppose his plan.
After exchanging a few more words, Leon stood up and went to pay for their meal.
Elina was about to stop him and offer to pay, but Leon just shook his head and waved her off.
Watching his back, Elina pursed her lips in annoyance.
"Humph! I'm a rich girl now. I don't want to trouble him, but he didn't even give me a chance."
Although her expression showed dissatisfaction, the sweet smile on her lips was difficult to hide.
After paying the bill, Leon and Elina walked out of the tavern, feeling refreshed.
"Morvhal's night breeze is so fresh and cool," Elina said, spreading her arms wide.
Her eyes were closed, and a small smile graced her lips.
Leon nodded in agreement. He glanced up at the sky, where a sea of stars glittered against the beautiful night.
"You're right. Morvhal really is a cool city," he said.
Compared to other cities, Morvhal still had many trees lining its streets, giving every pedestrian a fresh and comfortable impression.
Moreover, about a thousand kilometers away lay the Forest of Eternal Silence, which breathed fresh air into Morvhal every day.
Leon and Elina made their way toward one of the largest inns in Morvhal.
It stood tall and grand, making it one of the most striking buildings in town.
"Welcome, guests. May I help you?" A stunningly beautiful receptionist greeted them respectfully.
Leon gave a small nod and said, "I'd like to book two great rooms. Are they available?"
The woman looked slightly surprised, then quickly smiled warmly.
"Of course, sir," she replied politely. "Our best rooms are on the top floor, each with a king-sized bed..."
She began explaining the various facilities available.
"How much for a night?" Leon asked.
"Fifty gold coins, sir," the woman answered sweetly.
Upon hearing the price, Elina's eyes widened in shock.
"Fifty gold coins!?" she exclaimed, her mouth agape.
Fifty gold coins was an enormous amount. The average cost of a meal was only a few bronze coins—she could buy a mountain of food with that much money!
And yet here, that amount was only enough for one night's stay?
Elina was sure even the richest person would think twice before spending that much.
To her amazement, however, Leon remained completely unfazed. He nodded without hesitation.
"Alright, I'll book two of the highest-class rooms. If possible, make them next to each other, okay?"
His words made Elina feel suffocated. She gave Leon an incredulous look and tugged at the hem of her mantle.
"Sir, why did you agree? Fifty gold coins is a lot of money!" she whispered, standing on tiptoe to reach his ear.
Yet even on tiptoe, her lips barely reached Leon's shoulder due to her shorter height.
Leon heard her clearly and smiled nonchalantly. "Don't worry. It's nothing. I have plenty of money and not many chances to spend it."
Elina: "..."
Is this how the rich live? How amazing!
Meanwhile, the receptionist looked overjoyed at his response.
Leon's reservation for the most expensive rooms would earn her a huge commission—about five percent of the price.
That meant she would receive five gold coins!
It was equivalent to two years of her salary!
Without realizing it, she found herself staring at Leon's handsome face, her heart racing wildly.
Not only rich but also extremely handsome—Leon was lethal to a young woman like her.
"Alright, I'll process your reservation right away, sir," she said in a much sweeter tone.
At the same time, she deliberately lowered her collar slightly, revealing a glimpse of her tempting white cleavage.
If they had been ordinary men, their blood would have already boiled.
But for Leon, it was just a boring sight.
He already had Liliana, Athena, Arshley, and Luna. If he were still tempted by the flirtations of ordinary women, wouldn't that be lowering his standards?
Unlike Leon, Elina looked clearly displeased with the receptionist's behavior.
"Humph! How dare she flirt with the Fated One?" She muttered in a dissatisfied tone.
Glancing at Leon, she breathed a sigh of relief upon seeing him completely unfazed.
The check-in process took about five minutes.
After paying the full one hundred gold coins for two rooms, Leon and Elina followed an inn staff member to their rooms.
Watching Leon's figure disappear down the corridor, the receptionist pouted and glanced down at her ample chest.
"What went wrong? Why didn't he even look at me? Am I not attractive enough?"
What do you think?
