Chapter 557: Leaving the City of Morvhal
Morning...
The sun gradually rose, casting its light across the world.
In front of the largest inn in Morvhal City, Leon and Elina stood side by side.
The main street in front of them slowly filled with crowds of passersby.
"Are you alright, Elina? Last night's incident didn't traumatize you, did it?" Leon asked with a worried tone.
Since an assassin had targeted her the last night, he was concerned it might have left her feeling anxious. After all, Elina was an Elf, and this was likely her first time facing such a situation.
To his surprise, Elina appeared calm, showing no signs of fear or trauma.
"Don't worry, Young Master. I'm fine. Although I'm still a little shaken, I haven't suffered any trauma," she replied, shaking her head. A gentle smile formed on her lips as she continued, "Thank you for your concern, Young Master."
She had to admit that last night's events had left her quite shaken.
Moreover, it seemed that the man had been watching her for over a year, ever since she was in Rothinia. The thought of it disgusted her.
However, with Leon by her side, she felt safe and at ease.
After all, he was the Fated One—there was no safer place to be than with him.
Hearing her words, Leon breathed a sigh of relief. He gently rubbed her head and said, "I'm glad to hear that. If you ever feel uncomfortable, please let me know, okay?"
Elina enjoyed the comforting touch and gave a small nod. "Um!"
Afterward, the two of them walked toward the south side of Morvhal City, where the horse-drawn carriages that shuttled passengers between cities were stationed.
"Just fifty bronze coins to Valemont City! Come on, everyone! Don't miss out!"
"Three silver coins for ten passengers! I'll take you to Luneris City! Let's go!"
The voices of the coachmen echoed excitedly throughout the area.
Many people, eager to leave Morvhal City, approached and haggled over the prices.
"Whoa! So many carriages!" Elina exclaimed, awestruck by the sight.
Horse-drawn carriages, from small to large, were neatly lined up in rows.
The coachmen shouted, offering their services to passersby.
Leon chuckled at her reaction. "Of course there are so many. This is the transportation hub for anyone looking to leave Morvhal."
Actually, with his holy power, he could run all day to reach Lysoria.
But after a moment's thought, he realized it wasn't a practical option. He was with Elina, and carrying her while running all day was impossible.
Moreover, the energy expended would be vast, and it wasn't worth the cost.
After weighing his options, Leon eventually decided to take a horse-drawn carriage.
After all, with Elina guiding him through the Elven race's territory, he didn't have to worry about getting lost.
The two of them walked toward the line of carriages, each heading in a different direction.
Some were bound for Luneris, a large city four hundred kilometers away, while others were headed to Valemont, just two hundred kilometers off.
Of course, there were also carriages going to other cities, including Lysoria.
Leon and Elina stopped in front of a large, luxurious carriage. The two horses in front were strong and impressive.
"Welcome, customers," the coachman greeted them respectfully. "Are you headed to Lysoria?"
Leon nodded slightly. "Yes, my friend and I would like to go to Lysoria. How much is the fare, and when do we leave?"
The coachman's excitement was evident as he explained, "The fare to Lysoria is quite affordable—only two silver coins for both of you. That covers your accommodation and meals from breakfast to dinner while we transit through nearby cities."
"However," he continued, "since my carriage can hold up to ten people, we will only depart once we have at least eight passengers. We could start our journey tomorrow."
At the coachman's words, Leon nodded in satisfaction. The man seemed honest and transparent, traits Leon appreciated.
"If the ten-person quota is met, how much do you earn?"
The unexpected question caught the coachman off guard, but he answered without hesitation. "I'd earn about ten silver coins."
It was a sizable amount for some, but for a travel service provider like him, it was fairly average.
The distance to Lysoria was indeed great—around nine hundred and fifty kilometers from here.
And from that fare, he still had to cover the cost of accommodation and meals for his passengers.
"Ten silver coins? Alright, I'll give you one gold coin. In exchange, let's leave now," Leon said, pulling a gold coin from his pouch and handing it over.
"This..." The man was stunned, at a loss for words.
"Come on, just take it," Leon urged, placing the coin firmly into his palm. "With this, you can take us straight to Lysoria, right?"
Snapping out of his daze, the man nodded vigorously. "Yes! Yes, customer! Thank you very much!"
One gold coin was an enormous sum!
He never imagined he could earn so much just by escorting two passengers. What incredible luck.
"Then please get in, sir and madam. I'll take you straight to Lysoria," he said excitedly, patting his chest with pride.
Leon and Elina exchanged glances, faint smiles tugging at their lips.
Moments later, they climbed into the carriage, and soon, it rolled out of Morvhal City.
...
"Huh..."
An exceptionally beautiful woman let out a small sigh. She glanced around at the silent room, with not a single soul besides herself.
Leaning back against the throne, she gazed up at the ceiling, which was intricately carved with images of the world tree and the elves who worshiped it.
"Where is that troublesome girl? It's been over a year since she left, and still no word from her. Did she really escape to human territory?" She muttered, her expression filled with gloom.
This beautiful woman was the queen of the elves—and Elina's elder sister.
Ever since Elina had secretly run away, she had ordered countless Elven soldiers to search the entire Forest of Eternal Silence.
But the search had turned up nothing. The only possibility was that Elina had left the forest and crossed into human lands.
If not for the strict prohibition preventing her from leaving the forest, she would have already sent her forces beyond its borders to search for her.
Just as she was sinking deeper into sorrow, a faint light began to glow from the right pocket of her dress.
Startled, she quickly pulled out a pentagon-shaped crystal, its surface glowing green.
Her beautiful eyes widened, and a wide smile lit up her face.
"Finally! That troublesome girl contacted me!"
What do you think?
