Chapter 564: The Forest of Eternal Silence and the Poor Elf Girl - Part 2

The Forest of Eternal Silence was vast and immense, rightfully earning its title as the largest forest in all of mankind's territory.

Its trees soared into the sky, with an average height of around fifty meters.

Many even exceeded a hundred meters, with trunks so massive that a human standing nearby would appear as small as an ant.

Yet, the most terrifying thing about the forest wasn't its size, but the ancient monsters lurking within.

According to rumors, every night the soul-crushing howls of wolves echoed through the forest, reaching as far as a kilometer away.

Some even claimed that a wingless, dragon-shaped monster lived deep within, standing thirty meters tall, with massive jaws and rows of sword-sharp teeth.

Although none of these tales had been confirmed, many believed them, only adding to the forest's dreadful reputation.

At this very moment, one kilometer from the forest's edge, a streak of white light split the air.

The light grew larger, gradually revealing the figure of a tall, handsome man clad in a black mantle woven from dragon scales.

On his back clung a beautiful young girl, wearing a black cloak, her exquisite long ears peeking out.

They were none other than Leon and Elina.

"Hah... Hah..." Elina panted, tightening her arms around Leon's neck.

Her big, soft breasts pressed against his back, and her small body trembled slightly.

"Young Master, you... you're really so cruel!" Elina grumbled in a stammering voice.

She hadn't expected Leon to use his strength to sprint all the way from Lysoria to the Forest of Eternal Silence.

And his speed was so incredible that the scenery around them blurred, like a video playing at ten times the normal speed!

Had it not been for her sheer determination to hold on, she would have fainted on the spot.

After all, Leon was moving too fast, and Elina struggled to breathe in such a position.

Leon let out a small chuckle and said, "I'm sorry, Elina. I sped up so we could get there faster, but I forgot you were still on my back. I'm really sorry."

As he spoke, he gently lowered Elina from his back.

"Hmph!" Elina snorted softly as she got off. "Alright, I forgive you. Who told you to be so nice to me?"

"Thank you," Leon said with a smile, rubbing her head.

Feeling his hand, Elina giggled softly and wriggled happily.

Moments later, they both turned their gazes toward the Forest of Eternal Silence stretching out in the distance.

Even from a kilometer away, its tall, dense trees were clearly visible.

"Tsk! The Forest of Eternal Silence really lives up to its reputation. It's enormous and terrifying," Leon said, crossing his arms over his chest.

He had never been there before, but he had heard many rumors about it.

In any case, the Forest of Eternal Silence was widely known, with countless mystical stories about strange monsters—and even ghosts.

While the part about ghosts was hard to believe, the existence of strange creatures seemed far more plausible.

After all, the forest had existed since the beginning of the world. It was no surprise that ancient monsters from various eras still roamed within it.

Beside him, Elina let out a soft sigh and nodded in agreement.

"You're not wrong, Young Master. The Forest of Eternal Silence is truly vast and terrifying. Even the Elven race's territory only covers about a quarter of the entire forest. The rest is land we dare not enter."

"In fact, there are certain places that are strictly forbidden to us Elves. Too many terrible monsters dwell in those regions."

Numerous Elven guards were stationed along the borders to prevent anyone from leaving their territory.

Aside from the ancient laws that cursed any Elf who tried to escape the forest, the lurking danger of powerful monsters posed an even greater threat.

Many Elves had already fallen victim, leading to a sharp decline in their population.

In truth, there had never been a successful escape from the Forest of Eternal Silence—until Elina.

Strangely enough, during her escape, she encountered no danger. Neither monsters nor the curse ever appeared.

Naturally, that struck her as odd. After all, there had been many cases where those who attempted to flee were instantly struck by the curse and died on the spot.

But Elina hadn't. It made her wonder—was she a daughter of destiny, like in the popular stories she used to read back in Morvhal?

If Leon knew what she was thinking, he would've simply sighed and flicked her forehead, saying, "You've read too many novels, little girl."

"Let's head into the forest, then," Leon said, turning to her. "You know the way, right?"

Elina patted her big chest and replied confidently, "Don't worry, Young Master. The path back is still clearly etched in my memory."

Her confident words should've reassured Leon. But for some reason, he had a strange feeling—like something bad was about to happen.

"Am I just imagining things?" Leon wondered, uncertain.

Still, he shook off the thought and chose to trust Elina.

"Alright, I believe you. Let's go."

With that, he took Elina's hand—and the two of them vanished from sight.

***

As the forest least explored by humans, no one knew for sure just how vast the Forest of Eternal Silence truly was.

But one thing was certain: anyone who entered was unlikely to ever find their way out again.

Among the towering trees, Leon and Elina strolled at a leisurely pace.

Leon looked around in awe. "Even though I knew the trees here were huge, seeing them up close feels completely different."

If one of these trees had grown in his previous world, it would have been as tall as a thirty-three-story building.

One could only imagine how massive they were.

Well, considering this was a fantasy world, it really shouldn't be that surprising.

They continued deeper into the forest, and gradually, the atmosphere around them began to shift.

Where earlier the surroundings had been beautiful, filled with birdsong and gentle breezes, a creeping darkness and faint mist now began to take over.

The cold air that wrapped around them made the atmosphere even tenser.

"Elina, are you sure this is the right way?" Leon asked doubtfully.

Elina, who had been walking so confidently, now looked a little embarrassed.

She scratched her cheek and replied, "Um... Sorry, Young Master. I think I might've taken the wrong path."

Leon: "..."

So his premonition had been right after all—this girl had no sense of direction!

Seeing the distressed look on Leon's face, Elina panicked and hurried to calm him down.

"Young Master..." she began, but before she could finish, a sudden cry for help echoed from deeper within the forest.

"Help me!"
