My Love Debts Are Everywhere!

Chapter 565: The Forest of Eternal Silence and the Poor Elf Girl - Part 3

"Did you hear that, Elina?"

Leon's expression turned serious the moment he caught the faint voice.

Elina nodded and looked around warily. "I heard it, Young Master. It sounds like someone is in danger. Are we going to help?"

She didn't dare act rashly, choosing not to lead Leon directly toward the source of the sound, unsure if it was a trap.

Humans rarely entered this forest—it was almost impossible, except from the southern side near the intercity trade route.

However, that path was quite far from the forest's edge, and no sane person would venture deeper unless they had a death wish.

Besides, they were on the northern side of the forest, far from the southern route.

As for the possibility of it being an Elf's voice, Elina remained doubtful. Even if she and Leon were lost, she was sure the Elven race's territory was still far from here.

The chance was low, but not entirely impossible.

Thus, the most likely explanation was that it was a trap set by the monsters inhabiting the Forest of Eternal Silence.

Unlike monsters elsewhere, those in this forest had awakened their intelligence.

After all, they had lived here for tens of thousands of years.

The cries for help were usually a trick to lure prey, whether elves or humans.

Leon, sensing Elina's concern, asked, "Are you worried it's a swarm of monsters mimicking someone's voice?"

"Yes, Young Master," Elina replied, not hiding her thoughts. "There have been many cases like that. Many of our people fell for the bait and ended up as prey."

The memory made her clench her fists in anger.

Unlike humans, the Elven race was far smaller in number. They were used to living closely together, and the loss of even one of their own was a deep pain for everyone.

Leon sighed softly and gently patted her head, calming her a little with his touch.

"Although your concerns are valid, we should still check it out," Leon said calmly. "Who knows? That voice might really belong to someone—whether human or Elf—who's in danger and calling for help, right?"

His reasonable words made Elina nod firmly.

"You're right, Young Master. Let's go check it out," she replied in a serious tone.

"Good!" Leon smiled and pinched her chubby cheeks.

Without hesitation, he grabbed Elina's wrist and led her toward the source of the voice.

Meanwhile...

"Hah... Hah... Hah..."

A young Elf girl ran forward, struggling to breathe. Her dirty, miserable appearance made her look truly pitiful.

Her long hair, tied in a messy ponytail, was disheveled, and black smudges covered nearly sixty percent of her face.

The color had drained from her skin, leaving her deathly pale, as if she had lost a great deal of blood.

The cream dress she wore was torn and tattered, barely hanging on, exposing her delicate and fragile figure.

Fortunately, she was alone, and her green undergarments still covered her most vulnerable areas.

Otherwise, it would have easily stirred the desires of men, plunging her into an even worse situation.

"Help! Help!"

She cried out, her voice growing weaker and weaker. Hours of nonstop running had left her on the verge of collapse.

Her strength was nearly gone—it was only a matter of time before she fell.

*Awooo!*

A thunderous howl erupted from behind her, making her eyes widen in terror.

As she turned her head, she saw a black-furred wolf charging toward her at frightening speed.

It was massive—standing about four meters tall.

Its red eyes gleamed with hunger, and its sharp fangs were bared, sending a shiver down her spine.

"No! Don't chase me!" The elf girl screamed in hysteria, her legs pumping faster as she ran.

"Help! Help! Please, I beg you! Guards, Uncle, Mother! Wuuuu!"

Her cries grew louder, but no one answered. Soon, the tears flowed freely, streaming down her cheeks.

Suddenly…

*Strap!*

Her right foot snagged on a tangle of fused tree roots, sending her crashing to the ground.

The earth beneath her was littered with pebbles, sharp thorns, and tough roots, making every part of her body ache with pain.

A groan escaped her lips, but the thought of the wolf still hunting her froze her in place.

"I have to keep running!" she thought desperately.

With no time to waste, she tried to push herself up, but the cramps and pain in her legs made standing impossible.

No matter how hard she struggled, her body refused to cooperate.

*Awooo!*

The howl of the wolf drew nearer. Turning her head, she saw the monstrous creature only thirty meters away, its red eyes gleaming with hunger.

Cold sweat drenched her skin as she frantically scrambled backward.

"No... Don't come any closer... I don't want to be eaten!" She cried, waving her hands desperately to keep it away.

Tears poured from her eyes, her head shaking in terror and hopelessness.

But the wolf didn't stop. Its gaze was filled only with bloodlust, hunger, and cruelty.

It advanced slowly, each step driving the elf girl further into panic.

"No... Please..."

Her desperate plea only seemed to intensify the wolf's murderous intent.

When it was only twenty meters away, the wolf opened its massive jaws and lunged at her.

"No!" The girl screamed in terror, squeezing her eyes shut.

Just as she was certain death was imminent, a flash of black light suddenly shot out from behind her, followed by a thunderous impact.

*Bang!*

The sound startled the girl. Slowly, she opened her eyes and, to her astonishment, realized she was still alive!

Her gaze shifted forward, and she saw a tall, black-haired man standing with his back to her.

He wore a black mantle made of dragon scales, his hands clenched tightly at his sides.

A gust of wind ruffled his slightly long black hair.

Though his face remained hidden, she couldn't shake the feeling that he must be incredibly handsome.

*Skrrk!*

From the thicket, a hundred meters away, the wolf staggered into view, its legs wobbling.

Its sinister face twisted in pain before morphing into one of pure anger and hatred.

*Awooo!*

With a fierce growl, it lunged toward her.

The young girl gasped in terror and shouted, "Be careful!"

But the man, none other than Leon, merely flashed a faint smile.

"Do you think you can hurt me? Hahaha! That was just a dream in broad daylight!"

Instead of retreating, he bent his knees and lunged forward, his right fist clenched tight.

*Bang!*

He struck the wolf's head with a powerful punch, sending it flying through the air.

But Leon didn't stop there. His dragon aura erupted, and a golden dragon avatar materialized behind him.

With a mighty roar, its massive jaws snapped open and tore the wolf's body to pieces.

The young elf girl: "(O_O)!"
