Chapter 134: Chapter 133: Spirited Young Man (Congratulations to Xiaoyezi on her graduation.)
Night had fallen, and the perimeter of the department store was enveloped in dead silence, with hardly a chirp of insects to be heard.
Behind the department store, sheltered from the moonlight, vast shadows cast a darkness even denser than in other places.
In this quiet environment, the sound of chewing coming from the shadows was particularly jarring, as if something was hidden there, feasting greedily.
Gulp.
“Damn, the pig’s head meat from Old Fourth’s place is really satisfying.” Niu Feng stretched his neck to swallow the last piece of pig’s head meat, closed his eyes to savor it for a moment, then greedily sucked his greasy fingers.
Having satisfied his appetite, Niu Feng patted his belly and let out a long, full belch.
After the safety rope had broken yesterday, Niu Feng had no choice but to leave in dejection. After a day’s technical reflection, he finally identified the reason for yesterday’s failure.
The reason was the leopard cat, which was just too fat, causing his climbing efforts to fail. Therefore, he decided that before starting work today, he must put this unstable element back into the pet space.
Wiping his greasy mouth, Niu Feng struggled to get up from the ground, pushing against it. Being so overweight, layers of fat compressing against each other, a couple of buttons popped off.
Niu Feng, looking at his exposed chest hair, cursed under his breath and simply tore off all the buttons, exposing his wobbly chest and belly, which, if seen by girls, would make eight out of ten feel ashamed of themselves.
Free from the confinement of the buttons, he stretched luxuriously, his body fat rippling like waves.
“Get up for me.”
Niu Feng was furious at the sight of the crazily writhing ball of flesh on the ground; if not for it, how could he have possibly failed yesterday?
“Meow!!”
The leopard cat, happily gnawing on a pig’s trotter, thinking Niu Feng wanted to steal its food, bristled all over. It turned around, raised a claw glinting sharply, and hissed threateningly, with a gleam of cold light flashing in its pupils squashed by fat.
“You…!” Niu Feng took a few steps back, terrified by the leopard cat’s fierce demeanor, and then, red-faced and in a fit of pique, he pointed at the leopard cat, “You… just wait for me, next time I’m not buying you such a big pig trotter.”
After venting his anger with the most cowardly words, Niu Feng felt a lot better. He didn’t dare to disturb the leopard cat anymore and turned with a snort of pride to start preparing the safety equipment he would need.
Seeing that its owner wasn’t bothering it anymore, the leopard cat retracted its claws. Just now, turning around to strike a pose had almost left it breathless due to the pressure of its fat. If Niu Feng had persisted a bit longer, it might have really run out of steam.
Turning back and panting with its tongue hanging out, the leopard cat, looking at the big pig trotter in its paws, licked it a few times with its tongue full of prickles, and its expression was one of utter bliss.
Meanwhile, Niu Feng fumbled as he tried to put on the safety harness, but because of his large body, he often had to lengthen the ropes again and again before he could fit into them.
Just donning the safety gear had him sweating profusely; he sprawled on the ground, fanning himself with a hand as broad as a cattail leaf fan.
“Really… damn cat, for all I do for you, if it wasn’t for me, you wouldn’t get to eat so well,” Niu Feng muttered to himself breathlessly.
If it weren’t for the need to buy energy potions for the advancement of this “damn cat,” he wouldn’t have to work so hard. What infuriated him most was that the cat turned on him, making Niu Feng, the more he thought about it, feel more wronged. In his whole life, he had never been treated this way, yet here he was, taking it without complaint.
Having rested for a short while and regained some strength, Niu Feng aimed the crossbow coupled with the safety rope at the fifth floor wall and fired an arrow.
The crossbow arrow, tethered to the safety rope, flew silently through the night sky and stuck into the wall, spreading open inside to anchor firmly.
Niu Feng tested the rope with all his might, leaning back until it was taut; it didn’t come loose, and he nodded in satisfaction. But just to be safe, he fired another crossbow arrow.
With everything ready, Niu Feng tiptoed up behind the leopard cat and, catching it off guard, forcibly put it back into the pet space.
The leopard cat’s pitiful cries echoed in the night sky, lingering for a long time.
…
Bang.
“Hiss!”
A tiny shadow was flung backward and heavily smashed into the water tower, creating a dent before slowly sliding down to the ground, twitching a few times before passing out.
The Chasing Moon Dog lightly landed on the ground, its silver-grey eyes coldly watching the trembling young man in front of it.
“Don’t… don’t come any closer. I’m telling you, I have bros all over the country, if you mess with me, you’ll just…” The young man’s voice trembled as he took a few steps back, his eyes darting around, the silly Wangwang logo on his chest in stark contrast to his expression.
Bang.
Shao Zifeng’s elbow struck the back of the young man’s head, his eyes going white as he collapsed onto the ground, with the large Wangwang logo on his butt facing up, seemingly laughing at him.
“Why has wearing this suddenly become a trend? Looks like an idiot,” Shao Zifeng said, shaking his arm and disdainfully kicking the young man aside with his foot.
“Woof.” The Chasing Moon Dog quietly approached Shao Zifeng, gently licking his bleeding hand.
“I’m fine, you had a hard day,” Shao Zifeng said, looking at the claw marks on his hand, the blood already starting to coagulate. If it hadn’t been for using his hand to block earlier, it would have been his face that was bleeding now.
He petted the Chasing Moon Dog’s fluffy head. The creature’s personality was indeed pleasing – quiet and reliable most of the time, yet decisive and ferocious in battle.
The Chasing Moon Dog squinted its eyes, seemingly enjoying Shao Zifeng’s strokes, making a soft whimpering sound.
“Meow!!”
At that moment, a shrill, hoarse, and unpleasant cry came from downstairs, causing Shao Zifeng to dramatically grin.
The sound was like scratching a blackboard with fingernails in his brain – freakishly spooky.
The Chasing Moon Dog shook its drooping ears cautiously and took a few steps forward to shield Shao Zifeng, its silver-grey eyes coldly gazing toward the source of the sound.
The injury on Shao Zifeng’s hand was due to the Chasing Moon Dog getting ambushed because of its lack of experience, which it found quite blameworthy.
Moonlight shone on them, the silver-grey crescent shapes on the dog’s neck gleaming under the moonlight, complementing its quiet and stern demeanor, looking quite attractive.
After waiting for a long while without seeing anyone come up, Shao Zifeng patted the Chasing Moon Dog’s fluffy head, signaling there was no need to worry, then walked to the edge of the rooftop to look down.
Shao Zifeng: …
The Chasing Moon Dog, seeing Shao Zifeng remain silent for a long time, stood up, pressed against the railing, and stretched its head down to look.
Chasing Moon Dog:…
Then it withdrew its paws from the railing, lay down by Shao Zifeng’s legs, yawned with its mouth wide open, rested its head on its paws, and closed its eyes.
Shao Zifeng, elbows propped on the railing, watched the wriggling shadow climbing up in the darkness with a smile, nearly laughing out loud.
That was way too slow.
With that speed, if it manages to climb up, I lose.
What do you think?
