My Pet Beast is Super Fearsome

Chapter 135: 134 Wind and Lightning

Chapter 135: Chapter 134 Wind and Lightning

After climbing for most of the night, the exhausted Niu Feng had reached the fourth floor. Looking up at the fifth floor within easy reach, he gritted his teeth and lifted his sore, powerless arms to grab the rope.

“Damn!”

A sharp pain shot through Niu Feng’s palm as he held the rope, and he instinctively let go. His body plummeted down suddenly, and one of the safety locks snapped off instantly. Fortunately, another safety lock remained, swinging his heavy body to the side.

Frightened, Niu Feng tightly closed his eyes, his pale face tightly clutching the rope in his arms as his hefty body swung back and forth in midair, occasionally slamming into the wall.

Niu Feng opened one eye, looking at the failed safety lock, his legs turned weak. Luckily, he had prepared two ropes today; otherwise, it would have been the end for sure.

Rip.

...

The sound of tearing fabric made Niu Feng’s heart, which had just settled, rise again.

His body stiff, he turned his head and saw that his unbuttoned shirt, which was fluttering in the wind, had snagged on a burglar-proof window, tearing a slit in it, but fortunately, it stabilized his swinging body in midair.

Once stopped, Niu Feng first looked at his right hand, only to see that a blister had burst there, exposing raw, reddish flesh.

“Damn, that scared the hell out of me,” Niu Feng cursed, trying to calm his nerves.

Squeak.

At that moment, the burglar-proof window emitted a dry sound as Niu Feng’s body sank again. He dared not move, shivering as he turned his head to look back.

Huh?

Niu Feng let out a light gasp, carefully examining the slightly old burglar-proof window, and suddenly his face lit up with joy.

It turned out that because of disrepair over the years, the window appeared fine on the surface, but the screws fixing it had already decayed. Just now, the corner lifted because his shirt had caught on it, lifting up a third of the window, and the rest of it also seemed on the verge of falling.

Suppressing the joy in his heart, Niu Feng took a deep breath and carefully reached his arm back, grabbing toward the windowsill.

Squeak.

Because of his movement, another corner of the burglar-proof window lifted, the remaining two corners extremely unstable, shaking as they dropped rust dust. Niu Feng’s face whitened again, tightly clinging to the rope in his arms.

After a while, the burglar-proof window finally stabilized, and Niu Feng, not daring to make any rash movements, frowned as he cautiously surveyed his surroundings.

Just then, a dent left by someone else’s crossbow arrow caught his attention. The dent, seemingly from an arrowhead that hadn’t fixed properly inside the wall, had pulled off the surface completely, creating a large, deep space just right for placing a foot.

Moreover, the dent was not far from him; he could reach it with a stretch of his leg. He intended to use this as a leverage point to take a gamble.

Niu Feng took a deep breath, muttering a phrase he learned on Douyin to psych himself up, “Fortune favors the bold! Fortune favors the bold!”

Having said that, he gritted his teeth, stepped forcefully into the dent, and his body swung back a short distance, just reaching the window where the burglar-proof window was installed. He reached out a hand and grabbed the windowsill.

The burglar-proof window completely fell off, brushing against his back as it dropped down. The falling weight tore his shirt open, but because it provided a bit of cushioning, the window didn’t make too much noise as it landed on the pile of debris below.

Niu Feng clung to the windowsill with both hands, squeezing the safety rope with his legs, and took deep breaths. He suddenly felt like laughing, but he could only gasp for air, his face turning red from the rust in the air.

Niu Feng felt his adrenaline surging like crazy. Such excitement was unprecedented in his life; according to his personality, he wouldn’t have taken such risks, and he didn’t know what came over him today.

However, looking at the fourth-floor window now devoid of its burglar-proof window, a dark gleam flashed in Niu Feng’s eyes as he revealed a sinister smile.

On the fifth-floor rooftop, Shao Zifeng watched the chubby man for a while but found it boring. He sat down, leaning his back against the railing, resting against Chasing Moon Dog, and fell into a deep sleep.

Chasing Moon Dog sat squatting by the side, maintaining an upright posture. Its fluffy head rested on Zifeng’s knees as it snoozed with eyes closed. Upon closer inspection, one might notice its ears trembling slightly.

Suddenly, Chasing Moon Dog sharply opened its silvery-gray eyes, alertly watching outside the fence.

Click.

The soft sound of landing came again. Chasing Moon Dog stood up, grabbed Zifeng’s sleeve with its mouth, and made a gentle whining sound.

Zifeng shuddered, instinctively assuming a defense stance. When he opened his eyes and saw it was Chasing Moon Dog, he relievedly asked with a sleepy voice, “What’s wrong?”

“Woof!”

Chasing Moon Dog tugged at his sleeve, pulling him back. Left with no choice, Zifeng leaned on the railing and stood up, then stumbled forward.

Chasing Moon Dog, quick to react, promptly pushed against Zifeng’s chest with its head.

Hiss.

His leg went numb.

Zifeng grimaced in pain and rubbed his leg, thanking Chasing Moon Dog.

Once the numbness in his leg somewhat eased, Zifeng clutched the fence to look down and his expression turned ugly.

He saw two empty ropes swaying in the night wind, but the fat man was nowhere to be seen. He leaned over the railing to search more carefully, barely making out that the security window on the fourth floor was missing.

“Fuck!”

Zifeng rarely swore, but he turned and ran toward the staircase.

Opening the door and looking down the stretching staircase, Zifeng took a deep breath. Due to his previous ordeal, he still harbored some dread for this place.

“Chasing Moon Dog, you go ahead and lead the way,” Zifeng said, turning to Chasing Moon Dog.

Chasing Moon Dog nodded and took the lead into the pitch-dark stairway.

The stairwell extended downward into darkness. Zifeng used his phone as a flashlight, carefully descending. After several turns, the moonlight behind him vanished completely.

Since he was kicked out today, his mother had only packed some food for him. He hadn’t taken his travel bag.

The unfamiliar environment made him hesitant to move too quickly, so Chasing Moon Dog had to repeatedly stop and wait for Zifeng.

After walking for what seemed like a long time, at last, a familiar lampshade appeared in front of him. Under the dim light stood a tubby man who was about to press the elevator button.

“Chasing Moon Dog, Wind and Lightning.”

“Woof!” With a low growl from Chasing Moon, Zifeng felt a strong gust of wind as Chasing Moon Dog’s figure disappeared.

The empty hall echoed with the sound of electricity. A silvery current, trailing a long shadow, flickered back and forth. Just as the fat man’s finger was about to touch the button, the mass of electricity harshly collided with him.

The electricity erupted in the darkness, lighting up the entire hall, and the fat man was engulfed in the contorted current, emitting a piercing scream.

Thud.

The charred body of the fat man fell to the ground, producing a dull sound. Zifeng, seeing this, sighed in relief.

At that moment, the fat man’s body suddenly twitched, slowly raised his head, and with a face covered in scorch marks, turned towards Zifeng and revealed a ghostly, horrifying smile.
