Chapter 76: Chapter 75: Life Seed (1/2)
“Ah!!” A girl, upon seeing this scene, crouched on the ground in terror, hugging her head and letting out a sharp scream.
Not frightened by the dead body, the bald Sun Qiang shuddered from the girl’s scream instead, and he turned his head to glare angrily at her, “What are you screaming for, she’s already dead.”
The girl was helped up by a few of her friends, her complexion deathly pale, lips trembling uncontrollably, and her gaze somewhat vacant.
Shao Zifeng was also startled by the suddenly overturning corpse and, holding back nausea, looked towards the body in the gutter.
Under the illumination of the strong flashlight, what came into Shao Zifeng’s view was a swollen head, the face so bloated and decayed it was indistinguishable as male or female, though judging from the clothing, it was likely a woman.
The head was separated from the body, severely gnawed upon, with some white maggots wriggling in the eye sockets, creating the illusion of moving eyeballs.
Shao Zifeng swallowed saliva.
Ugh…
It wasn’t that he had any thoughts, it was just his stomach reflexively churning up acid.
“Brother Qiang, what do we do?” Class leader Sun Qiang also looked terrible, whispering to the bald Sun Qiang.
The bald Sun Qiang didn’t respond to Sun Qiang, just calmly took out a walkie-talkie and dialed channel 16, “Search Team One, Search Team One, this is Combat Training Group Four reporting a situation. I repeat, Combat Training Group Four has found something.”
After saying that, he held the walkie-talkie in his hand, waiting for instructions.
Waiting always seems eternal, especially in such an environment, where tension and unease spread between each person.
The walkie-talkie only emitted weird static sounds, and after a long wait, no response came through.
The bald Sun Qiang tried the walkie-talkie again but still received no reply.
“Teacher, the phones, our phones have no signal,” blurted out a panicked male student at that moment.
The crowd became restless, and all the students took out their phones, only to find no signals at all on their displays.
Everyone turned helplessly towards their teacher, a few girls letting out soft sobs.
The bald Sun Qiang felt a growing unease, his expression fluctuating, and finally he clenched his teeth, “Follow me, let’s go back the way we came, and get out of here first.”
“Roar!”
Suddenly, the Giant Battle Bear leaning against one side let out a roar, its eyes fixed intently on the depths of the sewer.
“What’s wrong, Er Bao?” The bald Sun Qiang’s body tensed, his unease intensifying.
He slowly lifted his head, following the Giant Battle Bear’s gaze into the darkness where, unbeknownst to him, a cluster of blood-red pupils had appeared.
Mutant creatures, there were so many of them ahead!
“Ah!”
The girl who had been scared at first couldn’t bear the pressure anymore and screamed as she ran back.
Her pet was a small cat, which had all its short fur standing on end, closely following behind the girl.
“Li Wan, come back! Come back now!” Sun Qiang yelled several times after the girl, but seeing she wasn’t listening, he quickly turned to shout to the bald Sun Qiang, “Teacher, what should we do? Think of something, quick!”
No sooner had the words left his mouth than Shao Zifeng saw the fleeing girl tremble like a puppet with its strings cut, standing motionless in her spot.
A vast shadow appeared out of nowhere, looming over the girl.
A dark, shiny object plunged into her skull from above and then slowly withdrew.
In the beam of the strong flashlight, there was a spurt of blood shooting up, and the girl collapsed limply on the ground.
Everyone was stunned into silence.
The sudden loss of a classmate they were just with moments ago was something they couldn’t bear, their unease turning into despair, but no one dared make a sound.
Shao Zifeng shifted slightly to the side, a hint of blue flashing in his eyes.
“Blood-sucking Tarantula…” he muttered, his scalp tingling as he looked at the data that appeared before him.
It wasn’t Shao Zifeng’s first time seeing a Blood-sucking Tarantula, not even the first time seeing several of them, he and Qiuqiu had even slain a few together.
But what really made his scalp tingle was that dense cluster of spider eyes – he had never seen Blood-sucking Tarantulas on such a scale.
In the sewer, both ahead and behind, there were blood-red spots of light everywhere, chilling to the core.
“Hiss~”
The spreading scent of blood stimulated all of the Blood-sucking Tarantulas, whose cold and blood-colored eyes locked onto the group with a greedy expression; the collision of their limbs created a noisy sound.
The first few couldn’t resist the temptation of fresh blood, and quickly scuttled forward on their long legs.
Bald Head Qiang’s facial muscles twitched violently, he turned his head to look at the terrified students and, gritting his teeth, opened a Space Rift with his hand.
“Roar!”
A roar filled with rage exploded in the sewer, the powerful airflow it carried rushed toward the swarm of Blood-sucking Tarantulas.
The first few Blood-sucking Tarantulas were blown unsteady, falling from the top of the sewer.
“Boom.”
The sewer shook violently.
The majestic Giant Battle Bear appeared in the sewer, but because its body was too huge, it could only crouch on the ground, blocking everyone’s path, single-handedly facing off against the frenzied Blood-sucking Tarantulas.
“Buddy Bear, hold on. Little Bear, turn around, take them and rush out! I…” Bald Head Qiang said and then turned back to glance at Buddy Bear blocking the sewer.
For an instant he thought of abandoning Buddy Bear to save himself, but the conscience of a Combat Training Master wouldn’t allow it. His expression gradually became resolute, and his eyes reflected determination, “Follow Little Bear and charge out, save whoever can be saved!”
“Roar!” Little Bear turned back to look deeply at his master, let out a roar, and, moving his broad limbs, was the first to confront the spider swarm.
“Teacher… Teacher, let’s go together,” a few female students said stammeringly with crying voices, while the other students also chimed in.
Bald Head Qiang glared fiercely at them, “All of you get lost, you bunch of cowards! Don’t you have the courage to run away?”
“Roar~” @@novelbin@@
“Hiss!”
By now, Little Bear had already charged to the front of the spider swarm, violently slammed a Blood-sucking Tarantula that pounced at it to the ground, bit off the tarantula’s head, and roared as it looked back.
The Giant Battle Bear also came under attack, but the confined space of the sewer limited its mobility, forcing it to passively take hits and let out choked roars of frustration.
Bald Head Qiang, with a heavy heart, stood behind the Giant Battle Bear, soothing it, and without turning back, shouted again, “Go, all of you, just go!”
“Teacher, we’ll call for help as soon as we can, you must hold on,” Sun Qiang shouted, leading his pet, a second-order wolfhound, and without looking back, he ran towards the way they came.
Leading the way, the others didn’t hesitate any longer and rapidly turned to follow.
Shao Zifeng turned to leave as well, but he felt uncomfortable just walking away like this.
Sigh, he didn’t want to owe anybody anything after all.
He decided to do something and immediately bowed his head to the tiny deer, “Life Seed, do not hinder their actions.”
Hearing this, the tiny deer nudged Shao Zifeng’s chest with its little head, then jumped to the ground from his embrace.
Its emerald eyes sparkled subtly, and illusory antlers emerged on its head. The antlers grew longer and branched out more and more, budding and blooming like a lush tree, spreading a tremendous aura of life.
The intense energy fluctuations drew everyone’s attention; the Blood-sucking Tarantulas, even crazier, had their bloody glow intensifying in their eyes.
But in such a cramped space, despite their numbers, they couldn’t swarm all at once, being forcefully held back by the two giant bears.
The other classmates looked at each other, commanding their pets to attack. Their individual power might not be strong, but they had strength in numbers.
“Yo~”
This skill was still a bit too much for the newborn deer. As the energy flower on the lower level bloomed, the very top of its antlers began to dissipate.
The tiny deer’s body trembled uncontrollably, teetering, and with an unwilling cry, it gritted its teeth, trying hard to maintain the release of its ability.
Shao Zifeng looked at the tiny deer, his heart aching.
“Yo!!”
The tiny deer raised its head and let out a long cry.
The antler tree shone brightly, emitting a strange and soothing fragrance.
More than twenty energy flowers bloomed, and one by one, green seeds squeezed out from the stamens of the antler tree, trailing long green ribbons as they scattered and flew away.
What do you think?
