My Werewolf System

Chapter 1245: Enter The Garden (Part 1)

With the help of the other Altered hunters, Saiber's group had finally landed just outside the port that led to the Garden.

Thankfully, one of the hunters was quite skilled and had previously been part of a crew, so he could direct the other hunters on what was appropriate to do, and it allowed all of them to arrive safely rather than a crash and ending up at the bottom of the sea.

As the ship pulled up, there was a small pathway in front of them that led to a restaurant by the river, currently closed. A few locks on the outside but nothing that the hunters coudln't get past.

Going through the restaurant would lead the group to a small looted shopping street filled with restaurants and other boutiques selling clothes and souvenirs. At the end, there was the entrance to the Garden.

"Alright group, grab the supplies and we'll escort them to the Garden itself!" Saiber ordered.

Gary then moved to grab some of the supplies off the ship when he was called out.

"Hey, where do you think you're going?" Saiber asked. "You have a keen eye for these things; you're coming with me. Three of us will be entering the Garden first—while carrying supplies, we're at our most vulnerable."

'More like I have a good nose,' Gary thought.

Thankfully, there were only two crates that needed to be carried in. Since they were about to head in, the crates were opened, and the group grabbed whatever supplies they could use, making their load lighter.

Out of the two crates, there was the one with the special delivery—as long as it didn't get taken away, everything would be fine in the end.

The group continued to walk down the hallway, and they soon saw the large entrance just ahead.

There was a metal barrier, the same type used at subway stations, where one would have to walk through or just jump over.

"Saiber, we should be careful from here," Gary said. He could smell a strong scent just outside.

Based on the smell, he could tell there was a large number of them.

"I think there's a lot more than just a token group covering this place."

With what had already happened on the ship, it no longer surprised Saiber if things had changed, so he had to adjust the current plan slightly.

"That suit shop, leave the crates in the storage room there for now. We'll need everyone fighting on this one—everyone on high alert."

The hunters broke through the storage room and placed both crates down. Gary made a note of where the two of them were.

Everyone easily jumped or climbed over the barrier and already had their weapons drawn as they entered the Garden.

The beautiful green scenery was in front of them, with trees and plants that appeared to reach the sky.

What they also noticed were several paths that one could take; they were routes through the Garden.

"Which path should we take?" a hunter asked.

"Maybe we shouldn't go through the paths; surely they would just be waiting for us, and the moment we walk through, they'll attack us from above."

"So, walking through the trees themselves?" another added.

Gary didn't like the sound of that. He was sure by now the Werewolves' sense of smell was as good as his—they knew they were inside.

If they went through the woods, it wasn't as if they could sneak up on their targets, and the Werewolves would fight better between the trees.

The best thing for them was to be in the open and pick a path with the least number of attackers to lower their numbers as much as possible.

"I think we should take the route on the left," Gary suggested. "It doesn't look like the main route most people would take, and it goes around the Garden, so there might be fewer people.

"I also don't think it's good for us to wander directly in the jungle when we don't know where we are, but they do."

The hunter who had suggested going into the jungle gave Gary a skeptical look and was about to say something until Saiber commented.

"We'll take the left route."

Saiber was already walking forward before the others could say anything.

"It was my mistake not trusting you before, so I'm putting my trust in you now. But be careful—don't speak up unless you're sure you're right, at least about that gut feeling."

Gary was thankful that Saiber now at least somewhat believed his words, which should make their journey a lot smoother, but he knew not everyone felt that way.

"He gets one hunch right and now we're relying on him for everything? That makes no sense!"

"Yeah, I thought Saiber would be a lot smarter than that."

Whispers from the other members were still strong.

They continued to move through the path slowly, and so far, they hadn't run into anyone, but that was all going to change as Gary sniffed the air.

He looked up and to his right, seeing a fully transformed figure staring at them.

"They're here—up right there!" Gary shouted and pointed.

The others had been using their masks the entire time and were unable to see anything. Yet, they could hear Gary pointing far off into the distance, but still couldn't see anything.

"What are you doing? There's nothing there!" a hunter said just before Gary pulled his arm.

A large swipe came down as a Werewolf hurled itself from the tree to attack. Its attack missed, hitting nothing but air.

Right then, the group could see they were completely surrounded by around six Werewolves.
