Chapter 433: Quan Yuanwei’s Prophecy
After undergoing the sterilization procedure, Sima Yun parked the armored car in the lot. The six of them came out of the car and then headed to a small white room for additional
sterilization procedures.
When they finished, Yao Ran turned to the group and said, "Thank you for accompanying me on this mission."
Ding Jianfeng patted the gun on his waist with a grin and said, "It's us who should thank you for this gift, Sister-in-law."
Yao Ran smiled at his words. Glancing at the time on her watch, she said, "I still have things to do. I will see you guys later."
Ding Jianfeng nodded. "Alright."
Before she could leave, Quan Yuanwei suddenly said, "Miss Yao, can we talk privately?"
Raising her eyebrows slightly, Yao Ran nodded. "Yes."
Seeing that they had something important to discuss, Ma Benshun said, "We will take our leave first."
"Alright. See you later," Quan Yuanwei replied.
Once they were alone, Yao Ran asked, "Brother Quan, what do you want to tell me?" Quan Yuanwei looked at her and asked, "Miss Yao, are you planning to go to Luocheng City?" Hearing this, Yao Ran's eyes flickered for a moment. She hadn't told anyone about this plan yet, and Long Yu hadn't had time to inform the others either. However, if Quan Yuanwei already knew, he must have seen something with his prediction ability.
Considering how accurate his predictions usually were, Yao Ran's expression turned serious. "Brother Quan, what did you see?" she asked.
Knowing she had likely guessed that he had used his ability, Quan Yuanwei decided to remind her.
He paused for a moment before saying, "Miss Yao, what I saw wasn't clear. There were a few scenes that I saw at the same time."
"In the first scene, a man dressed in black was surrounded by deformed monsters while protecting a group of children. In the second scene, a man wearing glasses stood on top of a building, watching as the man in black fought for his life and those behind him."
"The number of deformed monsters was overwhelming, and the man in black met a gruesome end. After his death, the children he was protecting transformed into deformed monsters as well-but they seemed to retain their sanity."
"As for the last scene, I saw you collapsing in front of the man in glasses. After that, everything went dark."
After a brief pause, Quan Yuanwei added, "Miss Yao, you must not go to Luocheng City. These signs all point to a dark future."
Yao Ran fell into deep thought after hearing his words. After a moment of contemplation, she said, "Thank you, Brother Quan, for your warning."
Quan Yuanwei could tell that she still intended to go to Luocheng City.
Sighing inwardly, he said, "Although my ability allows me to glimpse the future, the future is ever-changing. Since you are determined to go, please stay vigilant."
Yao Ran felt warmth from his concern and nodded. "I understand."
Having said what needed to be said, Quan Yuanwei said, "I will head to the workshop to help Brother Yixue and Sister Jia Xiang. You... take care when you go out."
"Understood."
With that, Quan Yuanwei left and Yao Ran turned her focus to assisting with the rescue efforts.
After three days, the movement of the magnetic field slowed down and no more satellites fell back to the ground while the rescue mission continued for another ten days before Xu Qipeng stopped the mission.
The day after the mission officially ended, survivors remained in the emergency rescue points. Since the air raid shelters continued to send food and water, the survivors were reluctant to leave.
As more survivors stayed to take advantage of the free supplies, Xu Qipeng called for a meeting.
Seated at the head of the table, Xu Qipeng turned to Yao Ran and said, "Xiao Ran, I'm sorry for the trouble we have caused you, and thank you for your and your friends' help these past days."
Yao Ran shook her head when she heard what he said. "It's not your fault, Uncle Xu. Your intentions were good. There is no way you could have predicted that the survivors would expect you to feed them indefinitely."
After she said that, Xu Ruihan asked, "Uncle, what is your plan for them?"
Xu Qipeng pondered for a moment before responding, "Since we rescued them, we can't just let them die. However, it's not feasible for us to feed them indefinitely. We simply don't have the resources even if we have the heart."
"I plan to turn this mountain into our new base. We will integrate the survivors into our team and have them help with construction. With them handling the building work, you and the ability users can focus on gathering supplies or cultivating food."
Listening to what he said, the senior officers exchanged murmurs of discussion. Xu Qipeng waited patiently for them to discuss amongst themselves.
After a while, one senior officer spoke up, "Commander, we didn't bring many supplies when we evacuated. The rescue mission has depleted most of what we had left. I don't think we can support that many people right now."
Another officer nodded in agreement and added, "That's true. Supplies outside have likely been looted or destroyed by the disasters. Unless we achieve self-sufficiency, this problem won't be solved."@@novelbin@@
Amidst the low discussion in the conference room, Qin Yonghang offered a suggestion.
"Commander, if we can acquire new seeds, my team-along with the wood, water, and earth element ability users-might be able to cultivate grains or vegetables."
Hearing his suggestion, Xu Qipeng fell into deep thought. Even the scientists at the Institute of Agriculture wouldn't be able to grow anything without seeds, and the thought deepened
his concern.
As the room fell silent, Yao Ran raised her hand. She looked at them and calmly said,
"Everyone, I can provide some seeds."
The moment her words fell, everyone turned to her in astonishment.
"Miss Yao, are you serious?" Qin Yonghang asked, his eyes lit up with hope.
What do you think?
