Chapter 222 Revenge For My Best Friend
When they arrived at their hideout, Rin stood in front of the sofa, gripping Haruto's backpack.
Without hesitation, she flipped it upside down, dumping its contents onto the table.
A cascade of memory cards clattered against the surface, some even spilling onto the floor.
"Hey! Be careful with that! What if they break?"
Haruto scolded, quickly kneeling to retrieve the fallen memory cards. He placed them gently on the table, frowning at Rin's recklessness.
Rin, unfazed, pulled a cigarette from the pocket on her thigh and lit it. After taking a slow drag, she exhaled a stream of smoke and smirked.
"Relax. They're not as fragile as you."
Haruto clicked his tongue but didn't argue.
Meanwhile, Rin began sorting through the memory cards, her sharp eyes skimming over the handwritten tags.
Enji, Haruto, and Old Futto sat on the sofa, watching her work in silence. Eventually, Enji broke it.
"So, what's your name?" He leaned forward slightly, clearly still interested in her.
Rin rolled her eyes and blew out another puff of smoke. "Rin."
Enji grinned. "So we're already on a first-name basis, huh?" He nodded, satisfied. "I'm Enji, by the way. Leader of this operation."
Haruto rolled his eyes. 'This guy never gives up.'
Rin ignored Enji completely. Instead, she picked up a memory card labeled nurse and inserted it into her phone.
She played the video, her posture stiffening as her jaw clenched.
Haruto, noticing her sudden tension, narrowed his eyes. "Is that your video?"
She answered curtly, "No."
Haruto raised an eyebrow. "Then who is it? I thought you broke into that place to erase your own video."
"I did." Rin's voice was flat as she turned off the video.
Silence followed as she exhaled another slow drag of her cigarette. Then, after a brief pause, she spoke again.
"I am not part of that disgusting prostitution ring. I infiltrated it, was brought in by a man named Ren, and he sold me to one of those vile old men."
"I killed that old man and planned to take down all the men in that building, but I couldn't find Ren. Instead, I found you."
She flicked ash into the tray beside her, her eyes darkening.
"My best friend took her own life because of the pressure that the gang put on her. So I wanted to kill all of them for what they did."
A heavy silence settled in the room.
Haruto studied her carefully. 'She did all of that for her friend… just like I'm doing for Haruka.'
He couldn't deny the similarities. The difference was, that Rin was far more reckless—more chaotic and desperate than he ever was.
"Well, I guess we're on the same page, then." He leaned back slightly. "I was wrong about you. You're not just some violent, rude woman."
Rin set her phone down and smirked. "That's not some pathetic attempt to flirt with me, is it?"
Haruto scoffed. "Flirt with you? Just so you know, I have four MILFs and another three women already. Why would I be interested in you?"
Rin burst into laughter, but it quickly turned into a coughing fit. "You? The one who looks like a teenager stuck in his thirties?"
Haruto gasped. "I—! That's not—!"
Before he could protest further, Enji burst out laughing as well. "Right? So why don't you—"
"You shut up too," Rin cut him off sharply. "Your hair looks like a Fanta bottle exploded."
Enji grinned, unfazed. "Hey, this color is trendy. But I'll take that as a compliment."
"Tch, all of you are giving me a headache." Rin pressed a hand to her temple, her expression twisting in discomfort.
Old Futto, who had been silent up until now, suddenly spoke. "I think it's not Haruto and Enji's yapping that's making your head hurt… but the fact that your stomach is bleeding."
Three pairs of eyes snapped to Rin's black dress—where a dark stain had already spread across her abdomen. Blood seeped through the fabric, dripping onto the sofa.
"Ah… I see. So that's it, then," Rin murmured, her voice eerily calm.
Then, without warning, she collapsed.
The three men sat frozen for a moment, stunned.
"Shit!" Haruto shot up, panic flashing across his face.
"Call someone—now!" Enji barked.
Old Futto was already moving, rushing to get Arataki's butler. Within moments, they were on the phone, frantically summoning a doctor before Rin bled out on the spot.

"Well, the wound isn't deep, but she lost a lot of blood," the doctor said, wiping his hands.
"Luckily, it didn't hit any organs, and we've already given her a transfusion, so she'll be fine."
Enji and Haruto let out a sigh of relief, but the doctor wasn't finished.
"But… that woman is weak," he continued, his tone more serious.
"It seems like she has a chronic condition. Her lungs aren't functioning properly—she has to take deep breaths just to breathe normally."
A pause.
"I suggest taking her to a hospital for further examination," the doctor concluded before gathering his things and leaving.
Enji and Haruto exchanged glances and then turned their attention to Rin, who remained unconscious on the bed in one of Arataki's mansion rooms.
"At least she's fine, right?" Enji broke the silence.@@novelbin@@
"Of course. You didn't see her in action—she's like a damn bull. There's no way she'd die from just that wound." Haruto exhaled, relief washing over him.
However, the door suddenly swung open again, this time revealing Arataki and Old Futto, both rushing inside, their faces tight with panic.
"This is bad," Old Futto said, his face pale and damp with sweat.
"News of Ren's operation being attacked has already spread! Kikuchi knows—and he's pissed."
Arataki clenched his fists. "We fucked up. Red Fang will come after us. What the hell do we do?!"
"They don't know the suspects yet, right?" Haruto asked quickly. "I made sure to hide my face perfectly!"

Enji ran a hand through his hair. "Damn… Kikuchi's gonna throw us under the bus."
In the middle of their frantic discussion, a weak voice suddenly interrupted them.
"Don't worry. I'll take responsibility for all of it."
They turned toward the bed. Rin had woken up.
Her eyes were half-lidded, her face pale, but her voice held a quiet determination.
"Your face is safe," she added, struggling to sit up. "I destroyed every CCTV before I got to the office."
She suddenly broke into a harsh, wracking cough. Lifting a hand to cover her mouth, she pulled it away to find it smeared with blood.
Her lips curled into a weak smirk. "I'm dying anyway. I won't live long. If something happens, just make me your scapegoat."
What do you think?
