Nightmare Mythos

Chapter 200 Feast

'Faceless… it had such a cool ring to it,'

The ability to change one's structure, whether it is body or face, will be a real menace to deceiving an opponent. A very deceitful image from no other than the real owner of the great and powerful Deceit.

'Oh man, I'd really like to receive it and learn it alongside my superficial fire since I knew this would be really helpful to me but in these times where I'm in an unknown territory while still at war, I wouldn't even guess what will happen when there's a 'hurtful' process to receive that conceptualize knowledge,'

He was eager to learn.

Heck, he was damn sure of getting that ability since it would wholly change the way he battled through his opponents but he had to keep a rational mind.

If he stopped thinking about thoughts that would get him alive while using the current strength he had, Cesar knew he was bound to make the same mistakes again.

For now, his thirst for getting stronger had to be abruptly stopped due such situation after careful consideration.

It's for the best of him and he knew it.

"All right… Faceless. When I have the time to learn you and make you mine, I'll consider when the right day first,"

Cedeit who didn't like that Cesar was being a coward in this position, voiced out in a compliant tone as he said.

"Wait, you're not like this. Why don't you accept it now? This will provide you with great benefits, I'm sure of it,"

Cesar chuckled, "I know I'll receive some benefits from acquiring it, but I'm also sure that you'll gain something if you succeed in convincing me, right? This is your plan from the start huh? I've seen through it and am convinced that the reason you are trying to make me interested in this power is to get control of my body, right?"

Cesar paused as he looked at the ceiling before adding, "Every condition is considered. The place, the time, and the disorder. Heh, but I'm not falling for it."

Cedeit paused as he retorted back a claim, "What if I just forced my knowledge to you? Will you be able to handle it? Even though I have a percent of control over your body, I'm still an eyesore,"

Cesar knew that if someone was watching him from the outside talking to himself, they'd likely tweak themselves and ask if he was crazy.

But Cesar didn't care about what they think of him any longer.

When he exited the Mansion of Deceit, he knew he had become different.

Hence if Cedeit was testing out his tenaciousness, Cesar would fight it and try to do a self-check if he was falling under his influence already.

The answer he gave was simple.

"Try it,"

He gave a reason why he's confident of his skills as he explained.

"I know you are trying your best to take control over me but you're not going to do something stupid like that. We are one, after all. If something endangers me, you'll also jeopardize yourself as well. So I'm sure you're going to pull something like the time in Nicotara where I have no choice but to force myself to make a deal with you without garnering risks. Come on, there's no way your brain got damaged after receiving memories from him. Right, Cedeit?"

Cedeit was left speechless about those words as he was about to speak but was halted when a knock came from the door of Cesar's house.

"Good evening, Mister Sparrow,"

The voice from outside took longer to continue to give reasons for coming before finally giving one.

"I'm sure, Mister Cesar Sparrow is tired from the journey… We prepared a feast for you at a mansion just right at the end of the street… Every worker is present there as well,"

Feeling ecstatic that he would not sleep with an empty stomach, Cesar stood up from his couch and went to the door.

He opened it and saw that the guy wasn't alone, instead, there were a few people in his back standing guard.

Their faces wore ridiculous faces however as if they were some troop with the same mind.

'Looks like they are wary of me… Why though. I was brought here due to their request, but I guess the cases of soldiers going crazy in this war are true. Is that the case this time? Still, they want me to come to the feast instead of hiding it from me. Hehe, who am I to reject it?'

Cesar tried to imitate their smiles, thinking that they were just going through the pain of the war and the only thing they could do was smile.

He then spoke brightly, "Let's get to eating right away, shall we?"

'A mansion, chandeliers, long table, and foods and plates that spread around it, and even a candelabra is there that it… feels nostalgic. I don't want to ever come back to it though,'

The setting around Cesar was no different than the time he was in the Mansion and crossing the long stone table.

However, he was in the chairs instead of being in it.

This thought that resurfaced inside Cesar's head when he was inside that damn place quickly disappeared when he was presented with the feast he was about to eat.

'Delish…!'

Cesar was just asked to sit down as someone who was serving the food was there to do it all. The others had already taken a seat while waiting for the food and he was part of it since he was invited and not forced to do it.

Once everything had settled down, the guy who invited Cesar earlier that still hadn't given his name sat down at one edge of the table and said.

"Let's eat,"

Cesar was ready as he devilishly rubbed his hands together to begin eating.

What was presented on his front was a lump of roasted meat with an artistic way of putting it on a plate. Another side was another meat that Cesar couldn't even recognize where they were made of.

However, it was looking delicious enough.

Cesar grabbed a spoon and was about to taste the food when he took a pause.

"…"

He already realizes something amiss in the air but to confirm his suspicions, Cesar's gaze fell around the table where everyone was oddly enough to look in his direction.

Everyone was anticipating for Cesar to eat the food on his front and was eagerly waiting.

As soon as they noticed that they were staring at him a bit too much, they dropped their gaze down and wanted to eat the food for themselves.

But Cesar was already convinced about it.

"Hey,"

Cedeit even tried to call him inside his head.

"Yeah?"

Cesar motioned an eating action and wanted to try and see something but the 'fellows' he had with him tried to imitate him, yet they didn't eat a single crumb of rice or meat.

They were watching him.

It was in that instant that Cesar heard Cedeit continuing.

"Use Eyes of Deceit for a moment,"

Cesar brought down his spoon as he didn't hesitate to follow Cedeit's advice.

At his next blink, his eye started to glow faintly as the view around him changed.

The 'people' he saw were nothing humanlike, instead, they were hideous monsters with a twisted face and heads, a body that was full of holes, and limbs that were wiggly and disproportionate.

That wasn't the worst thing he had seen yet as the surprise went to the table.

His eyes dampened when he witnessed something horrendous.

The feasts that lay on his front were not the delicious image he had with it earlier, instead, they were parts of real human flesh.

At one part of the table, there were human heads with worms wriggling inside them. Then the image of a hand that stood with no fingers came next to his vision. Lastly, there was a bowl that looked like a soup with eyeballs floating around.

Whatever place he was in, Cesar saw nothing but ridiculousness and felt disgusted upon seeing it all.

"You know…"

Cesar's stiffened up as he transferred his gaze to the end of the table.

"You are seeing us right now. How come—wait, those eyes… They are magnificent. It's something I want to steal so bad... if you would've just eaten something!"

Whoosh—!

Cesar immediately stood up from his place and used a fork and a knife to cut through the throat of his seatmate which is nothing like human at all.

Slash—!

Then everybody jumped through his position but Cesar was fast enough to grab the key to his pockets.

He quickly imagined the view outside of the city but it didn't work as if something was trapping him from using the full potential of the Librarian's key.

Cesar avoided a human monster that came to him and tried to think of another view again to use his key, thinking about the house he had used.

'Damn it!'

Still useless again.

Whoosh—!

Jumping through the human monsters to avoid their attacks to take him down, Cesar looked at the chandeliers above the table and used the key to imagine the pathway.

There, a hole opened and he used it to enter, making him transfer above and closing it instantaneously to avoid followers.

"This place is swarming with them!"

Cesar shouted as he looked down on the human monsters that were carrying out each human part to force him to eat.

"Well, I don't feel hungry now!"
