Chapter 203 Nightmare Upheaval
Whoosh—!
Dodging a hand that almost looked nothing unreal, Cesar swiftly started evading the series of attacks coming from all around as the Nightmare didn't just have one hand at his possession.
Twelve of them went all to Cesar without stopping and with a precision that even the Nightmare was surprised at how a mere human like him was able to dodge a consecutive of attacks, something that the monster does not even consider since he was just a mere mortal.
But Cesar is a class on his own.
He was on par with the Nightmares after having mastered his precise control of superficial fire.
Cesar saw a hand coming from above. Upon seeing it lunging towards him and remembering the mission he had to do, the only choice left was to dodge it
'One…'
Thud—!
Avoiding the point of impact, Cesar noticed another two elongated hands coming from his direction which were no different from the Nightmare's own hands.
Swiftly spinning mid-air, something that others might not even be able to pull off, Cesar countered the hand that came to him and took a huge breath.
'Three…'
Boooom—!
Just as the moment he dropped down from the ground, Cesar felt the terror on every fiber of his skin as he swiftly sensed incoming hands thwarting his direction.
Whoosh—!
'Seven…!'
Having no choice but to use his Librarian's key, the second power that he calls Key's Escape, Cesar entered inside and appeared right behind the Nightmare's gigantic body and was able to see the back of the creature.
The back of the creature was super arched even the spine can be apparent. The Nightmare even had a pair of bone wings that were growing as the monster crawled and looked around where he was located.
Finally, as if the creature sensed where Cesar was, the head of the monster turned back to watch where he was.
Cesar shivered at the mere sight of the Nightmare, as if it was all back to Nicotara again, the monster that he fought from the table in the Mansion.
And today, he witnessed the monstrosity's face.
The creature that dared to attack him was covered with pulsating veins. It was as if a string of webs that wriggled all around its face just like the things he saw from those human monsters.
However, the difference that kept this Nightmare apart from the rest he had seen was how its mouth and eyes were placed just by merely observing it instantaneously.
Its mouth was shaped like a diamond star with tongues slithering out from it. He couldn't even count how many tongues were that moved around its mouth.
However, it was different if the eyes were the subject.
The eyes are something that Cesar could count with his hands. After all, each side of the available space from the monstrosity occupies one eye each.
And all of them are pointed at him as the creature lets out a screeching roar to make Cesar understand how pissed it was to him.
The message, even though incoherent was well delivered by Cesar who somehow understood what the Nightmare was trying to say.
The next action was to tell how angry the Nightmare soon felt by Cesar as every arm it could use shot towards him. Explore new worlds at My Virtual Library Empire
Rumble—!
In an instant, Cesar was able to take a quick count of how many arms the creature possessed.
'Fourteen elongated hands!"
Being able to count all of them and make sure that he didn't miss anything, Cesar used the Key's Escape once more and appeared at the end of the street from where he could see the mayor's residence.
"Shocking…"
Cesar looked around and spotted the countless human monsters moving in his direction and didn't waste any time using the Key's Escape and appeared at a nearby.
Even though he wanted to save as much essence as possible, Cesar had no choice but to do it as he was afraid that there would be nothing to save if he was caught in some trap or got to worry because he might lose all of his essence soon.
'This Nightmare is giving me a run for his money… This fucker…'
Slightly annoyed that he couldn't eliminate the Nightmare right away because it is one of the protocols to not engage in any activity that might put his life at risk and could possibly threaten the entire operation itself, Cesar knew he had to behave.
Whoosh—!
"Run…!"
Suddenly every human monster spoke out loud as the desperation could be apparent due to how strong it was while being directed at Cesar.
"Run… is the only thing… you lowly humans could… do…! Go run with your tails… at your back…!"
As if his pride was hurt, something that he started to have as it looked like he was some sort of coward to his mortal enemies, Cesar annoyingly let out a chuckle and glanced at the Nightmare with a dangerous stare.
"You motherfucking bastard… I didn't know Nightmare who could talk was this annoying. Just hearing them talking in human language just makes my blood boil. I want to tear them apart so bad!"
Even with that raging emotion surging inside of him which is still under control, Cesar imagined many situations where he could turn the arrogant Nightmare into a dead category of Nightmare.
"This isn't like you… Careful, you might be getting influenced by the Nightmare without you noticing,"
As if the irrationality that Cesar was showing wasn't something that he usually showed when being his usual self, Cedeit began to warn him about his actions.
It was better to be ready for anything since it could be the enemies' fault that he was being that way.
After all, with the current state that Cedeit was in where he was just merely a shadow of the real Deceit, fighting someone that he had zero knowledge about was a dangerous aspect that he had already considered a long time ago.
After all, the only time he was confident in defeating the Nightmare Dim, Nicotara that time was because he was prepared and knew the history and the Nightmare itself.
He was watching the Nightmare from the Penetrated Realities from his room after all.
But the Nightmare that Cesar was fighting was unknown and something that he hadn't met once in his past.
Yet he was also glad that their enemy wasn't someone of the Origin Nightmare caliber like what Cesar always considered.
The warning that Cedeit warned also made Cesar calm down as the surging emotion that swirled inside him was also not something that he usually does.
'Just what the hell is happening to me? Is this one of the Nightmare's powers? An entity that deals with a change of emotion? Upheaval? Right, I'll call this Nightmare Upheaval.'
Whoosh—!
As Cesar avoided the countless human monsters that came in his direction once more, he used the same escape from the Librarian's Key but this time, transferred it above the air to see the condition from the nearby cities.
'No rescue still… I should be able to give half an hour's time to the Army before they come here but that's just it. Any longer than that and I'll be exhausting myself from having Essence Depletion,'
Rumble—!
Just as he was falling down from the surface with a plan to use the Key's Escape any time soon once he was nearing the ground, Cesar heard a loud crash from below that made his attention to it and made him frown.
Whoosh—!
Nightmare Upheaval flew, its hands wriggling through the air due to how intense the action it just did.
It's also not the only thing that made his brows creased together.
'Fast!'
Cesar managed to avoid being caught by one of Upheaval's hands using the Key's Escape act and transferred to the ground and closed it instantaneously.
"Almost you fucker!"
However, it seemed Upheaval already caught on to his actions as the only thing Cesar was doing was transferring from place to place.
'You're avoiding confrontation with me because you're afraid of being caught! Guess what. I have enough of your ploys!' Upheaval mused inwardly before beginning to see the plan it laid for Cesar.
Cesar who was running to see if it could lessen his usage of essence felt something revealing from the ground which was the human monsters that dug around to find him.
Their hands touched his own but what made it surprising in the first place was how Cesar wasn't able to discern that they were already on his feet.
Cesar was planning to create another Key Escape action when it failed miserably as human monsters lunged towards the gaped hole as if they were anticipating this moment.
'Shit!'
His mistakes continued to happen in just a few seconds as the next thing he knew, he was trapped in the arms and feet of the human monsters.
"Fuck!"
Cesar's mind raised as the desperate attempt he could make to escape his situation was something he was going to regret.
With a quick judgment, Cesar used his Facet's Sink to bite and plow the human monsters away from his body.
What do you think?
