Novel's Extra: The Lost Heir of Dragon Queen

Chapter 34: Arrival at the Neutral Continent

As the sun began to dip below the horizon, painting the sky in shades of amber and crimson.

Kael and Sephina stood on the edge of her private island.

Amelia waited a short distance away, giving them space for their farewell.

Sephina’s golden eyes, filled with both pride and concern, focused on her son.

"Kael, are you sure you don’t want to stay and learn my techniques now?" she asked softly.

Kael shook his head, a faint but determined smile on his face. "I want to, Mom. But… I don’t have the time."

Kael continues "And I think I’ve had my fill of fire and trials for a while. I need a break. Maybe a week of doing nothing sounds perfect."

Sephina sighed, her expression a mixture of understanding and worry.

As Sephina gently brushed a strand of silver hair away from her face as she spoke again.

"Kael, you’ve proven yourself in ways I didn’t expect. I know you’ll find your path at the academy."

"Yes mom" kael replied.

Sephina placed a gentle hand on Kael’s shoulder, her golden eyes filled with concern.

"Kael, don’t ever push yourself this hard again. I’m always here for you, so you can tell me if anything happens."

Kael sighed internally, a faint smirk tugging at his lips. She’s treating me like an 8-year-old child again.

"Okay, Mom."

Kael nodded, then turned to Amelia, who had been unusually quiet.

"Ready to head out?" kael asked.

Amelia smirked. "I’ve been ready. From the starting."

Sephina stepped forward and embraced Kael tightly, her strength belying her delicate appearance.

Kael returned the hug, savoring the warmth and comfort of her embrace one last time before stepping back.

"Goodbye, Mom."

Sephina smiled, though her eyes shimmered with unshed tears. "Goodbye, Kael. May your journey be one of greatness."

Amelia, sensing the moment was over, approached with a grin. "Ready to go, Kael? Or do you wants me to book a room for two of you"

"Huh.....hey you bi...." Kael narrowly stopped himself for cursing this bitch.

"Let’s go"

As they boarded the vessel that would take them to the mainland, Sephina remained on the shore, watching until they disappeared into the distance.

During the journey, Kael sat in quiet contemplation, recalling the unique ways one could join the academy.

There were three paths:

1. Noble Privilege – Those born into noble families could enter the academy by default, their birthright securing their place.

2. Commoner Merit – Commoners had to earn their spot by passing a grueling entrance exam, testing their physical, magical, and mental capabilities.

3. Noble Recommendation – A rare and prestigious entry granted to those recommended by a noble of the first level or higher.

Sephina’s recommendation had secured his place, bypassing the need for the exam.

However, he also felt a sense of responsibility. Being recommended by a dragon queen wasn’t something to take lightly.

"Guess I’ll have to live up to Mom’s expectations," he muttered to himself, gazing at the horizon.

Amelia, noticing his expression, leaned back casually. "You’re brooding again, Kael. Relax you are about to start a new chapter of your live. At least try to look excited."

...

After travelling for almost 1 hour

Kael realized the journey ahead was no small feat.

Even with the speed and efficiency of the jet, it would still take at least 15 hours to reach his destination.

His mind wandered as he looked out at the endless sky, thinking about the academy’s location on the neutral continent.

This particular landmass was situated at the very center of the world’s geography, serving as a crossroads for the various races and factions.

The world itself consisted of five vast continents.

1) Human-Vampire Continent:

The largest of the continents.

Vampires resided predominantly in the northernmost region, taking advantage of the perpetual darkness brought by the proximity to the North Pole.

This arrangement allowed them to avoid the sunlight that weakened them, creating a haven for their kind.

Meanwhile, the humans occupied the rest of the continent, with cities, towns, and kingdoms scattered across fertile lands, deserts, and mountains.

2) Dragon-Elves Continent:

Known for its unparalleled natural beauty, this continent was a tapestry of lush forests, rolling hills, and pristine lakes. It was considered the best place to live, thanks to its balanced climate and abundant resources.

3) Neutral Continent:

The heart of the world and a land dedicated to fostering unity and understanding among races.

The neutral continent was the home of the Grand Academy, where students from every race and background gathered to learn, train, and forge alliances.

The continent’s central location made it accessible to all, and its neutral stance ensured it remained free of the territorial disputes that plagued the other continents.

4) Demons Continent:

The Demon Continent, situated at the South Pole, provides its inhabitants with their ideal environment of perpetual darkness and freezing cold.

5) Mermaid Continent:

The smallest of the continents, the Mermaid Continent was unique in that half of it lay submerged underwater.

The mermaids and other aquatic races lived in harmony with the sea, their underwater cities shining like jewels beneath the waves. Above ground, the land was dotted with lagoons, coral-covered beaches, and crystal-clear rivers.

While small, the Mermaid Continent was a paradise for those who valued peace and beauty.

Kael couldn’t help but marvel at the diversity of the world as he reflected on the differences between these lands.

Each continent had its own culture, strengths, and challenges, and the neutral continent served as the bridge that connected them all.

With a deep breath, he settled into his seat, ready to endure the long journey ahead.

His destination, the academy, awaited him—a place where he would meet individuals from every corner of the world and take the next step on his path to greatness.

After a grueling journey spanning hours, Kael and Amelia finally arrived at the Neutral Continent, their destination looming as a beacon of opportunity and mystery. The cool air of the continent greeted them as they stepped off the private jet, the sky above painted in shades of twilight.

Both made their way to the taxi stand at the airport, the vibrant cityscape around them bustling with life. Amelia hailed a cab while Kael silently gazed out at the new surroundings, his mind already wandering to the academy.

The taxi ride was uneventful but provided a glimpse into the unique architecture of the Neutral Continent. It was a blend of cultures, with towering modern skyscrapers interspersed with ancient, magical constructs that seemed to hum with energy.

When they reached their hotel, exhaustion was etched on their faces. The long journey had taken its toll, and all they wanted was the comfort of their rooms.

As Kael checked them in, Amelia leaned against the counter, stretching and muttering, "kael want to do something great"

"No" kael replied. Kael knows she was just teasing him.

The bellhop guided them to their rooms, and as the doors closed, Kael sank into the plush bed, staring at the ceiling.

"Tomorrow starts a new chapter," he murmured to himself before sleep claimed him.

.....

Knock.

Knock.

The sound echoed in the quiet hotel room.

Kael, who had been resting after the long journey, furrowed his brow as he sat up.

He glanced at the clock—it was well past midnight.

With a sigh, he got up and opened the door.

Standing there, swaying slightly, was Amelia.

Her cheeks were flushed, her eyes half-lidded, and a faint smell of alcohol wafted through the air.

"Kael..." she murmured, her voice soft and unsteady.

Before he could respond, she stumbled forward and wrapped her arms around him in an unexpected hug.

"Amelia, are you... drunk?" Kael asked, startled, his hands hovering awkwardly in the air as he hesitated to return the embrace.

She let out a faint giggle. "I just... had a little"

Kael sighed. "Amelia, you should be resting, not drinking yourself silly. Tomorrow’s going to be a busy day."

She pulled back just enough to look up at him, her face inches away from his. "You always act so responsible, Kael. It’s annoying," she teased, poking his chest lightly.

"But... I like that about you."

Kael froze, unsure of how to respond

Then Amelia suddenly pushed Kael, catching him off guard.

He stumbled backward and landed unceremoniously on the bed.

"Amelia, what are you—" Kael said.

"I’m sorry, Sephina," she murmured.

As she leaned toward kael...
