Chapter 35: Academy Freshers (1)
As Amelia lunges forward towards the lying Kael.
her breath uneven and her intentions unclear, her actions are wild and impulsive.
Her green eyes, clouded with a haze of lewd emotions.
She leans dangerously close, her fingers brushing against Kael’s collar as if trying to pull him closer.
Kael, however, is instantly on alert. Though exhausted from the journey, his sharp instincts kick in.
He grabs her wrists gently but firmly, holding her back as she tries to press closer.
"Kael," she said, her voice softer than usual, almost teasing. "Why so serious? Come on, let’s have a little fun."
"Amelia," kael says calmly, though his voice holds a steady edge. "Stop this. You’re not in your right mind."
"Amelia, you’re drunk," Kael continues, his voice calm but firm.
"You need to rest."
She staggered forward, trying to close the distance between them, but Kael stood up quickly, putting a small but firm hand on her shoulder to steady her.
"You don’t know what you’re doing right now."
Amelia looked up at him, her eyes narrowing slightly.
"You think I’m not serious about this?" She huffed, a small, half-embarrassed laugh escaping her lips.
"You always act like you’ve got everything figured out, Kael. But you don’t know me. You don’t know what it’s like to—"
Amelia lips tremble as she mutters something incoherent, her gaze unfocused.
She tries again, her body language desperate, but Kael shifts quickly, slipping out from her grasp and rising to his feet.
He takes a step back, his heart racing.
"Get some rest, Amelia," Kael says.
Kael darted out of the room, his heart pounding as if he had just faced a monster in the labyrinth.
He had no idea what had come over Amelia tonight, but he wasn’t about to stick around to find out.
"Ha ha ha!"
Amelia laughter echoed from behind .
It wasn’t the laugh of someone drunk or distraught; it was deliberate and taunting.
"Kael! How was my acting?" Amelia called out.
Kael froze, his eyes narrowing. Acting? Realization hit him like a slap in the face.
The entire scene —
"This bitch," Kael muttered under his breath, clenching his fists.
She had completely played him, and he was almost fallen for it.
"Oh, come on, Kael. Don’t look so mad. You should’ve seen your face. Priceless!"
Kael glared at her, his cheeks faintly red.
Kael sighed, rubbing his temples. "You’re impossible."

The sun hung high in the sky, casting its warm glow over the sprawling campus of the Academy.
Kael stood just outside the grand gates, his arms crossed, tapping his foot impatiently against the cobblestone path.
The academy’s entrance loomed above him.
He muttered to himself, frustration creeping into his voice.
"Where is she? She told me to meet her here at the entrance…" Kael’s gaze scanned the bustling crowd of students, each dressed in robes or attire that reflected their social standing, clan, or magical affinities.
He had been standing there for over thirty minutes, feeling increasingly out of place as whispers and lingering stares from the other students grew more pronounced.
Kael adjusted his collar awkwardly, trying to ignore the attention.
He wasn’t sure what was drawing their focus—his white hair, his unusual presence, or maybe the fact that he didn’t seem to belong to any particular noble house.
Just as he was about to give up and find Lumia later, a shift in the crowd’s behavior caught his attention.
The murmur of voices softened as all eyes turned in one direction.
The students parted like waves, making way for someone moving toward him.
And then, she appeared.
Lumia entered with an effortless grace, her long, purple hair cascading down her back like a shimmering waterfall.
Her purple eyes sparkled in the sunlight, and her presence alone seemed to command the attention of everyone around her.
She was stunning—no, more than that.
She radiated an aura of effortless confidence, and the way her lips curled into a soft smile made it impossible to look away.
Kael stood rooted to the spot, his heart skipping for a moment.
She wasn’t just beautiful—she was the kind of beauty that seemed otherworldly, almost unreal.
"Hii, Kael," Lumia greeted him warmly as she approached.
"Hii…" Kael managed to reply, snapping himself out of his daze.
"Have you been waiting long?" she asked, tilting her head slightly, her smile growing.
"No, I just arrived two minutes ago," Kael lied smoothly, although he had been standing there for what felt like an eternity.
She nodded, clearly unconvinced but choosing not to press the matter.
"Good. Then let’s go."
As they began walking toward the auditorium, Lumia’s presence beside him continued to draw attention.
Kael tried to ignore the looks and murmurs that followed them, focusing instead on the grandeur of the academy.
The path leading to the auditorium was lined with towering marble statues, each depicting a legendary figure from history.
Massive gardens stretched out on either side, filled with exotic flowers that seemed to glow faintly with magical energy.
Crystal-clear fountains bubbled serenely, adding to the tranquil yet awe-inspiring atmosphere.
Kael glanced around, marveling at how the academy matched its description in the novel he once read.
It really is grand… and beautiful.
The buildings rose like castles, with spires.
Everywhere he looked, students gathered in groups, their chatter blending with the sound of wind rustling through the trees.
"By the way," Lumia said suddenly, breaking the silence, "I have a surprise for you."
Kael knows the surprise clearly is.
She is going to be elected as president for the freshers.
"What" kael asked.
"You’ll find out soon." With that, she quickened her pace and disappeared into the crowd, leaving him standing at the entrance to the auditorium.
He turned his attention back to the auditorium.
Kael took a deep breath, steadying himself. This is it—
As Kael sat down on a seat at the far end of the auditorium, he glanced around, trying to avoid drawing too much attention.
The buzz of excited students filled the grand hall.
"Umm... can I sit here?" a voice interrupted.
Kael looked up, slightly startled.
Standing before him was a boy with green eyes and green hairs he was handsome.
Kael instantly recognized him—this was Ren Arclight, the academy’s best archer, a character Kael had read about in the novel.
"Of course," Kael replied, gesturing toward the empty seat next to him.
Ren gave a grateful nod and sat down. After a brief moment, he turned to Kael. "Hey, what’s your name?"
"Kael," he replied simply. "And yours?"
"Ren. Ren Arclight," he said, a small smile playing on his lips.
Kael nodded, though his thoughts lingered on how Ren’s role in the story had been small but crucial.
Ren was a resourceful character who always seemed to have inside information, and Kael knew that keeping Ren close could be useful.
As the two settled in, Ren leaned back in his chair, glancing around the auditorium.....
What do you think?
