Chapter 37: Academy Freshers (3)

"Stop it!" a commanding voice rang out, cutting through the rising tension like a blade.

All heads turned to see Lumia, her vibrant presence shifting the mood immediately.

Her purple hair swayed as she walked confidently into the scene.

"Lumia..." Aveline said, her tone softening ever so slightly as she acknowledged the student council president.

"What’s going on here?" Lumia asked, her gaze flickering between Kael, Aveline, and the now sheepish-looking Eric.

"He broke the rules," Aveline started to explain, pointing toward Kael.

"How" Lumia asked.

Kael stood his ground.

He could feel the weight of dozens of eyes on him, each student either curious, judgmental, or amused by the unfolding scene.

Eric, now dusting himself off after being thrown effortlessly to the ground, smirked, clearly savoring the attention and the perceived support of Aveline.

"They were fighting and seeing the atmosphere it was most probably started by kael " Aveline said.

Kael’s lips twitched into a sardonic smile.

’this bitch always give her statement by seeing the scenario’

"I didn’t start the fight," Kael said, his voice calm but laced with an edge.

"He was the one who laid his hand on me first."

"He tried to provoke me," kael said bluntly.

"I merely defended myself."

"I was just trying to be friendly, and this boy decided to act high and mighty. He needs to learn his place." Eric said.

Then lumia turned to the crowd of students that had gathered.

"If there are any witnesses who can corroborate either side, speak up now," she said.

There was an awkward silence. Several students looked away, unwilling to get involved, while others simply shrugged.

Lumia sighed.

"As I thought," she muttered under her breath.

Then, addressing everyone, she added,

"If there’s no clear evidence, then both parties will be penalized equally. Eric, for instigating the situation, and Kael, for escalating it."

Aveline opened her mouth to protest but quickly closed it when Lumia shot her a warning glance.

"Fifty coins will be deducted from both of your accounts," Lumia said, her tone leaving no room for argument.

Kael inclined his head slightly, a gesture of reluctant acceptance, while Eric muttered something under his breath but dared not protest further.

Kael shot him a glare, and for a moment, Eric flinched but quickly masked it with a sneer.

"Disputes like these are unbecoming of S-Class students," Lumia said, her tone firm but measured.

She glanced at Eric, Aveline, and finally Kael. "If there’s an issue, take it up with the administration. Don’t cause a scene in the hallways."

Aveline hesitated but eventually nodded.

Now, let’s move on," Lumia said, dismissing the crowd with a wave of her hand.

"This spectacle is over."

As the students dispersed, Lumia turned to Kael and gave him a small, knowing smile.

"Next time, try to avoid the drama, Kael," she said before walking away, her presence as commanding in departure as it had been upon arrival.

Kael gave her a curt nod.

As Lumia walked away.

Kael sighed.

"Hey kael do you know her" Ren asked.

"No" kael said.

"Then why is she acting friendly towards you" Ren further added.

"Let’s go to classroom first" Kael said trying to change topic.

"Tell me"

Kael ignored him.

As both of them entered the room.

The classroom was a marvel to behold. The lecture hall was grand, with towering arched windows that bathed the room in natural light.

The seats were arranged in tiers.

Kael and Ren found seats at the very end.

Where they could observe without drawing too much attention.

"This place is incredible," Ren whispered, his eyes wide with awe. "It’s even better than I imagined."

Kael nodded, though his attention was elsewhere. He scanned the room, taking note of the other students.

As expected, many of them were figures he recognized from the novel—prodigies, heirs of powerful families, and rising stars in their respective fields.

His gaze lingered on a tall, black haired boy with piercing blue eyes who sat near the front.

Adria Shirone, Kael thought, the name resonating in his mind.

The protagonist.

Adrian was as charismatic as Kael had anticipated.

He carried himself with an air of confidence that bordered on arrogance, yet there was a warmth in his demeanor that made him approachable. The other students seemed drawn to him.

"Do you think he’s strong?" Ren asked, noticing where Kael’s attention was focused.

Kael smirked. "Hmm,"

The class quieted as the door opened, and an imposing figure strode in

The instructor was a tall, middle-aged man.

"Welcome to the S-Class," he began, his voice deep and authoritative. "I am Professor Darius, and I will be your instructor for Advanced Combat and Tactical Magic."

His eyes swept over the room, lingering on each student for a moment before moving on.

"Your first task," Professor Darius continued,

"will be to demonstrate your current abilities. We will assess your strengths and weaknesses to determine your roles from tomorrow."

The class sat in stunned silence as Professor Darius, with his towering presence, concluded his brief but impactful speech.

His piercing gaze swept across the students one last time before he gave a curt nod and walked out of the room.

"Well, that was... intimidating," Ren muttered under his breath, glancing at Kael, who appeared unfazed.

Kael simply shrugged. "He’s just setting the tone."

Before Ren could respond, the classroom doors opened again, and a young woman stepped inside.

She was strikingly beautiful, with long, jet-black hair cascading down her back and sharp black eyes that seemed to pierce through the soul.

"Good morning," she said, her voice soft yet carrying a certain authority.

"My name is Serana Radeus, and I’ll be your homeroom teacher for this academic year."

Serana’s sharp eyes scanned the room, instantly silencing the chatter.

"Now that I have your attention," she continued, a faint smile gracing her lips, "let me officially welcome you to the S-..."

Kael leaned back in his chair, observing her closely.

Serana Radeus… He recognized the name instantly.

In the novel, she was a renowned mage and a former top-ranking graduate of the academy.

Her calm demeanor belied her immense power, and she was known for pushing her students to their limits.

"As some of you might already know,"

Serana continued,"this academy operates on a point-based system. You’ll earn points for attending classes, completing assignments, and excelling in various tests and challenges. Conversely, you’ll lose points for infractions or poor performance."

She paused, letting her words sink in.

"These points aren’t just numbers," she added.

"They’re your lifeline here. You can use them to purchase resources, access restricted areas, or even request private lessons from esteemed instructors. In essence, your success—or failure—will depend heavily on how you manage them."

The room buzzed with excitement and curiosity.

"One more thing," Serana said, her tone growing serious.

"In this academy, actions have consequences. Recklessness, whether in the classroom or on the training grounds, will not be tolerated. I expect discipline and respect from all of you."

Her gaze briefly met Kael’s, and he felt a faint chill.

’She’s already noticed me,’ he thought.

As the first day’s formalities wrapped up, the students began filing out of the classroom, eager to explore the academy further or discuss the day’s events.

Kael and Ren stood near the door, waiting for the crowd to thin out.

"So," Ren said, grinning, "what do you think of our homeroom teacher?"

Kael smirked. "She’s as sharp as they come. Better not get on her bad side."

Ren chuckled. "Yeah, no kidding."

As they stepped out into the hallway, Kael’s mind wandered.

The point system… I’ll have to be strategic about this. In the novel, it was one of the key aspects that determined survival here.

As The two decided to grab a meal before heading to their dorms.

The cafeteria was as grand as the rest of the academy, with long tables laden with various cuisines from all over the continent.

"Now, this is a feast!" Ren exclaimed, his eyes sparkling as he grabbed a tray. "I could get used to this."

The two found a quiet corner, away from the bustling crowd of students.

Ren dug into his food with enthusiasm, while Kael ate more reservedly, scanning the room.

"Not bad, huh?" Ren said between bites. "I mean, for academy food, this is top-notch."

Kael nodded. "It’s better than I expected. At least we won’t go hungry."

Ren was halfway through a particularly large bite of roasted chicken when a shadow fell over their table.

"Mind if I sit here?" a familiar voice asked.

Kael turned to see Lumia standing there.

Without waiting for an answer, she gracefully slid into the seat beside him.

Ren froze mid-bite, his mouth hanging open.

The sight of one of the most beautiful and prestigious figures in the academy casually joining their table was apparently too much for him to process.

He coughed awkwardly, scrambling to wipe his mouth, while Kael sighed internally.

"Sorry about earlier, Kael," Lumia said, her tone soft but direct .....
