Chapter 170: The Sealed Archives of Raven Tower

Descending into the Depths

The stone staircase spiraled downward, the torches flickering dimly as Seraphis led her five creations into the depths of Raven Tower. The walls were lined with smooth, dark stone, reinforced with layers of protective enchantments. The air grew thicker, heavier, charged with the residual magic coursing through the foundation of the tower.

Aerisiel, Elyndra, Vaelora, Lorienna, and Yveris followed in silent anticipation, their eyes scanning the passage as they descended further into the unknown.

Finally, after what seemed like an eternity, the steps ended before two massive doors, their surfaces adorned with intricate silver engravings—a tapestry of arcane symbols woven into the metal itself.

Seraphis reached out, her fingers grazing the cold steel before turning to the others.

"Beyond these doors is the first of two grand libraries. This one will hold all publicly known magic—the tomes, scrolls, and spells that are acceptable to study in the open."

She pushed against the doors, and with a deep, resonating groan, they slowly swung open.

The Grand Library of Common Magic

A vast, empty library stretched before them, its towering bookshelves standing bare in perfect rows. The ceiling was impossibly high, adorned with a massive chandelier-like formation of floating runes, each softly pulsating with gentle blue light.

The five figures stepped forward, their gazes sweeping across the space.

Seraphis walked toward the center of the room, running her fingertips along the polished wooden desks arranged neatly for scholars to study.

"This library will function exactly like the one in my personal home. Every book placed here will be recorded in an enchanted index, making it possible to locate any spell or tome within seconds."

She raised her hand, and golden threads of magic snaked out from her fingertips, weaving themselves into the very walls of the library. The air shimmered, the enchantment sealing itself into the architecture.

"This archive will be accessible to those who wish to study magic within the tower. It will serve as a place of learning and growth."

Her tone darkened slightly.

"But the next library… will be different."

The Forbidden Archives

Seraphis turned toward the far side of the room, where yet another set of massive doors loomed, far more imposing than the first.

These doors were black as midnight, adorned with ancient carvings that seemed to shift and twist when observed too closely. A heavy presence radiated from them, as if the very magic woven into their structure was alive.

She stepped forward, her palm pressing against the dark surface. The runes flared, the magic responding to her presence.

"Beyond these doors is where we will house forbidden knowledge—the spells that should not exist, the incantations that defy logic, the magic deemed too dangerous for the world to hold."

A subtle tension filled the air.

Then, with a whisper of power, the doors slowly creaked open, revealing the shadowed abyss beyond.

Inside, another vast library stretched before them, but unlike the first, this one was eerie, silent, and foreboding. The walls pulsed with deep crimson sigils, ancient markings that seemed to breathe in the dim light.

There were no floating runes to illuminate the space. Instead, black torches burned with cold, violet flames, casting elongated shadows across the polished obsidian floor.

Seraphis strode inside, her boots echoing against the emptiness.

"This is where you will store the forbidden texts, the secrets the world has tried to erase. No ordinary mage must ever set foot in this place. This archive is for us, and us alone."

Sealing the Forbidden Library

Once they had taken in the sight of the forbidden archive, Seraphis turned, motioning for them to step back into the grand hall.

The massive black doors closed behind them, sealing the forbidden library away once more.

Seraphis lifted her hands, whispering a complex incantation. Layers upon layers of protective magic surged forth, wrapping around the doors like a living fortress—barriers that could repel any attempt at intrusion.

The air vibrated with raw energy as the enchantments wove together, forming an impenetrable seal.

Then, with a final whisper, she placed her hand against the doors.

"This library will not open without six keys."

Her voice was absolute.

The Creation of the Six Keys

She turned to her five creations, raising her right hand.

Before their eyes, five keys of pure arcane energy materialized in the air, each shimmering with a different hue.

"Each of you will carry one of these keys. They are bound to you and you alone."

She flicked her fingers, and the keys floated toward them, stopping just before their chests.

"No one else will be able to take these keys, nor will they be able to see them. They are not physical objects—they are extensions of your very essence."

She gestured.

"Think of your key."

Aerisiel narrowed her eyes in concentration, and her key materialized in her palm

, glowing faintly. The others followed suit, their keys appearing in perfect synchronization.

Seraphis nodded.

"Now, infuse them with your blood. Only then will they be bound to you permanently."

Without hesitation, each of them pressed their fingertips to their keys, allowing a single drop of blood to sink into the glowing orbs.

The moment the blood touched the keys, they flashed brilliantly, then vanished into their bodies.

Seraphis smiled.

"Now, you may summon and dismiss them at will. They exist within you, invisible until called upon."

She then conjured a final key—her own.

Unlike the others, this key was obsidian-black, pulsing with raw, unfiltered power.

"This is my key—the master key. If anything should happen to yours, I alone can access the archive."

She followed the same process, pressing the key to her palm, allowing her own blood to bind it to her soul.

Once the key disappeared, she lowered her hand.

"With this, the security for the forbidden library is complete."

A Sanctuary of Power

Seraphis took a step back, exhaling softly as the enchantments around the forbidden library settled into absolute silence.

The five figures stood before her, their keys now a part of them, their bond to the tower unbreakable.

She gazed at each of them, a quiet satisfaction in her expression.

"Raven Tower is now truly secure. The knowledge we collect will remain hidden from the world until the time is right."

She turned, walking toward the staircase that led back above ground, her voice echoing through the vast chamber.

"From this day forward, the world may believe they understand magic… but they will never know what lies beneath."

And with that, they ascended—leaving the sealed archives behind, hidden from history itself.
