Chapter 366: A Pity
Chapter 366: A Pity
The forest below was lush and dense, with overlapping tree canopies that completely obscured the ground. It was impossible to see what was happening beneath. However, above the treetops, a large group of Aipom had gathered, shouting loudly at Julian and the group.
Aipom A: "Get out of here right now!"
Aipom B: "Hey, up there! I’ve got a short temper, and if you don’t leave, I might not be able to hold back!"
Aipom C: "What are you looking at, little guy? I can make you cry with one punch."
Aipom D: "Hey, fatty! With a belly that big and wings that small, how are you even flying?"
Aipom E: "********"
More than a hundred Aipom were yelling all sorts of "greetings" at Julian and his team. Some even raised their middle fingers—no doubt a behavior they had picked up from some humans.
Celebi: "You little bas***ds, you’re making me laugh to death!"
When it came to arguing, Celebi wasn’t one to lose, but there were just too many of them. One of the Aipom seemed to be a master of trash talk, its words needed to be censored out entirely with stars.
"Make them shut up."
Even with Julian’s usual calm demeanor, having over a hundred monkeys screaming insults at him was too much. His head was starting to hurt from the sheer noise.
"ROAR!!"
Dragonite took a deep breath, and then let out a powerful roar, its voice carrying an unmistakable pressure of a Dragon’s might.
It didn’t hold back its Elite-level aura, mixing it with Dragon’s Majesty.
The Aipom weren’t particularly high-leveled, and this sudden roar froze their bodies on the spot. In the next second, they dropped like dumplings into the forest below.
And it wasn’t just the Aipom—Dragonite’s roar spread across a 10-kilometer radius, scaring off every Pokémon below Elite-level.
In just half a minute, the entire forest fell into silence, Julian hadn’t planned to go this far, but those Aipom were just too annoying.
As Dragonite landed on the forest floor covered in layers of rotting leaves. The towering tree canopies blocked out most of the sunlight, leaving the surroundings dim.
Thick bushes, vines, and wild grass filled the area, though several small trails wove through the undergrowth.
These paths weren’t man-made—they were formed by Pokémon constantly walking through them.
In the wild, many trails might look like human-made, but in reality, they were carved out by Pokémon over time.
Because of this, experienced trainers often avoided these paths. Instead, they preferred to clear their own way, minimizing unnecessary risks.
After all, no one could be sure what kind of Pokémon had created these trails, and whether they were strong or weak.
It was always right to be careful in the wild, a single mistake or a moment of carelessness could easily cost someone their life.
Of course, if you’re strong enough, none of that really matters.
Thanks to Dragonite’s earlier roar, there were no Pokémon left in the area. Some, too frightened to flee, had even fainted on the spot—like the Oddish and Shiinotic in front of him, lying motionless with foam at their mouths.
Given that these Pokémon were known for being timid, their reaction wasn’t surprising.
The Dowsing Machine indicated that the treasure was about 300 meters away.
Under Celebi’s constant urging, Julian began walking forward. Fortunately, there was already a Pokémon-made path leading in the right direction, saving them the trouble of clearing their own way.
Celebi: "Hey, hey, hey! What kind of treasure do you think it will be?"
Julian: "It’s not for you anyway, why are you so excited?"
Celebi: "Why not? Finders keepers!"
Celebi crossed its arms, puffing out its cheeks in protest.
Julian: "Still not giving it to you. What are you gonna do about it? Bite me?"
He curled a finger at Celebi, taunting it.
The next second—
Celebi: Chomp!
"Ow! You actually bit me! What are you, an Arcanine?"
Between their playful squabbles, they arrived at the treasure’s location, but when Julian looked around, all he saw was a small patch of grass—nothing else.
Celebi: "Treasure, treasure… where’s the treasure?"
Celebi flew around in circles, searching every inch of the area, but apart from grass, more grass, and even more grass, there wasn’t even a living Pokémon in sight.
Frustrated, Celebi turned to Julian, and said angrily: "Did you hide the treasure?"
Julian: "A brain is a good thing… too bad you don’t have one."
With that, he reached out and grabbed Celebi’s head mid-flight, stopping it from bumping into him again. As the little Pokémon struggled, Julian walked up to a few blades of grass.
"This is the treasure."
At the same time, he let go of Celebi, who stared at him in disbelief, its expression practically screaming, Do I look like a fool?
Julian rubbed his forehead, speechlessly.
"Aren’t you supposed to be the Guardian of the Forest? How do you not recognize Revival Herb?"
"You must be a temporary worker."
Celebi: "Of course I know what Revival Herb is! But this doesn’t look like it!"
Julian: "And you still say you’re not a temporary worker? This is an immature Revival Herb."
Revival Herb looked a lot like ordinary weeds, but its leaves gave off a faint crystalline glow. If touched, it left a distinct bitter taste on the fingers—
A bitterness so intense that even Gulpin would hesitate.
A fully mature Revival Herb had at least five leaves, with each leaf representing ten years of growth. The more leaves it had, the older and more potent it was.
As its name suggested, Revival Herb’s greatest use was healing.
Although it couldn’t bring back the dead, as long as someone was still breathing, consuming a Revival Herb would restore their body to peak condition.
Moreover, Revival Herb could be used by both Pokémon and humans, though its effects on humans were slightly weaker. Even so, it was far more potent than most medicines.
Back in ancient times, this would have been as valuable as a thousand-year-old ginseng.
However, when Pokémon consumed Revival Herb, their intimacy with their Trainer would drop—simply because it was too bitter. Every Pokémon that had ever tasted it swore they’d rather die than eat it again.
Of course, mixing it with other medicinal ingredients could lessen the bitterness, but only to an extent—too much would weaken its effects.
Julian stood before the five Revival Herb plants. The largest had four fully grown leaves, while a fifth leaf had sprouted but was still much smaller than the others.
An immature Revival Herb had significantly weaker medicinal effects. Even if it was just one year short, the difference between a forty-nine-year-old and a fifty-year-old Revival Herb was like night and day.
Currently, Revival Herb couldn’t be artificially cultivated. It could only be found in Secret Realms or forbidden zones, and because of its powerful healing properties, it was rarely sold on the market.
This herb was a life-saving miracle for both humans and Pokémon, unless there was absolutely no other choice, no one would sell it.
"What a pity."
Julian shook his head.
Celebi: "Aren’t you gonna dig it up?"
Julian: "It’s still immature. I don’t have the heart to do it."
He already had some Revival Herbs, but he had never used them.
Celebi: "Then why not just wait until it grows up?"
Julian: "I know you can sleep for ten years at a time."
Celebi: "I can do twenty, too!"
Julian: "Get lost."
