Chapter 394: Two Saviors
The next day, the entire country was in an uproar over one shocking piece of news—Drakoria’s strongest Champion, Duke, had been fatally poisoned and didn’t have much time left.
Duke was highly respected, not just among ordinary citizens but also within the Trainer community. Like Julian, he had risen to fame at a young age.
Throughout his journey, he had made countless contributions to the nation. Later, he became the president of the Drakorian Trainer Association, leading millions of professional Trainers.
Whenever Drakoria had conflicts with other major powers, Duke was always involved in handling them.
As the strongest Champion of Drakoria, his very existence deterred Drakoria’s greatest rival, Celestria, from making any reckless moves.
If Duke was to die, although Drakoria still had five other Champions, none of them could compare to him in terms of deterrence or strength.
The weakest of these Champions was Julian’s grandfather, John Walker, simply because he had become a Champion most recently.
Originally, the Drakorian government had immediately sealed off the news of Duke’s poisoning, but unexpectedly, within just a day, the matter had spread like wildfire.
Not just in Drakoria—the morning news in many foreign countries was already reporting on it.
It was clear that someone had deliberately leaked the information. Otherwise, there was no way such a secret could have spread worldwide overnight.
> "The government hasn’t issued a statement yet, could it be that Champion Duke is really in trouble?"
> "Duke, poisoned? Come on, that’s hilarious!"
> "Honestly, the way they’re reporting it, it sounds real."
> "What’s going on? I’m overseas, and even I’ve heard about this. Is it true or not?"
Discussions flooded the internet. Some believed the news was real, while others thought it was fake.
The lack of an official response only made the situation more confusing. In fact, the government’s silence fueled even more speculation.
Then, the situation took another dramatic turn.
Foreign netizens suddenly dug up a video.
The footage showed the exact moment when Duke was bitten by an Arbok, poisoned, and collapsed—before being rescued by John Walker.
> "Anyone here good at video editing? Can someone check if this footage is real or fake?"
> "So far, no signs of tampering."
> "Damn, that poison looks strong! Duke turned purple instantly, but what did his Alakazam feed him?"
> "Champion Walker was there too, yet he hasn’t said a word about it?"
> "Could this really be true…?"
The internet was in chaos. People even started bombarding Julian’s Geek account, urging him to ask John directly.
Those who had Julian’s phone number were calling him nonstop.
Meanwhile, Julian, who was staying at a hotel, had just finished breakfast and gone back to sleep for a nap—completely unaware of the situation.
It wasn’t until Luis called him that he finally found out.
Lying in bed, Julian stared at his Geek account, which was flooded with comments, along with all the news about Duke’s poisoning. He muttered, “Looks like they really think he’s done for.”
If it wasn’t for him, Duke might have really not survived.
There was no need to think too hard about who leaked the news—it was definitely the work of Babath, with Celestria pulling the strings behind the scenes.
With that thought, Julian opened Geek and typed out a simple message:
Julian: "Fake news, he’s fine."
After setting his phone aside, he glanced at Celebi, who had been eating non-stop since morning. Feeling helpless, he sighed, “Can’t you eat a little less? You finally lost some weight.”
At this rate, Celebi was just going to gain it all back—and then some.
Didn’t it know that being overweight could ruin everything? What if it didn’t want to stay single forever?
Oh, wait… this little guy didn’t even have a set gender.
Celebi ignored Julian and continued munching while saying, “I used up a lot of energy, so I need to eat more to recover.”
Eating fried chicken, French fries, and drinking cola to "recover"?
What kind of nonsense was this? It was so ridiculous that Julian almost couldn’t argue back.
“By the way, what was that move you used to heal Champion Duke yesterday?” Julian asked curiously.
It had managed to cure such a deadly poison and even fixed some of Duke’s old ailments. So, Celebi could act as a healer too?
Celebi: “How about calling it ‘Holy Light’s Blessing’?”
There it was again—its otaku tendencies.
Actually that wasn’t even an real move; it was just Celebi using its natural powers.
“Forget it, pretend I never asked.”
He had hoped for a serious answer, but now his expectations were completely ruined.
Celebi: “Green River of Life works too.”
Julian decided not to ask anymore, but Celebi seemed to have gotten excited. The little Pokémon perched on his stomach, deep in thought, trying to come up with a cool and domineering name that suited its identity.
Knock, knock
Just then, a knock came from the door, Julian glanced at Celebi, who pouted before reluctantly retreating into its Poké Ball.
When he opened the door and saw who it was, Julian sighed in frustration. “Why is it you?”
It was Nicole. Shouldn’t she be at the hospital taking care of her grandfather? How did she have time to come looking for him?
Nicole stepped inside, scanned the room, and then asked, “Where’s Celebi?”
So she was here for Celebi.
Julian answered smoothly, “It went home to see its mother.”
Lying came naturally to him.
But the very next second, Celebi popped out of its Poké Ball, flew up to Julian’s face, and protested, “You’re the one who went home to see your mother!”
After speaking, it happily fluttered over to the table and continued eating its unfinished fried chicken and fries.
Nicole’s eyes widened in shock when she saw Celebi munching on fried chicken and fries. She immediately turned to Julian, her expression filled with anger. “How can you let a Pokémon eat this kind of junk? You’re harming it!”
If Pokémon ate too much of this stuff, it could lead to serious health problems.
Being questioned like this, Julian’s expression instantly turned cold.
“That’s none of your concern, Celebi is perfectly fine.”
Mythical Pokémon were built differently, and even if Celebi somehow managed to ruin its health with bad eating habits, Julian had the means to fix it.
'I saved your grandfather, and this is how you talk to me? Not even a single ‘thank you’ before you start lecturing me?'
Nicole shot him a glare before crouching beside Celebi and speaking softly. “Be good, don’t eat this kind of food, I’ll bring you some Pokéblocks later, okay?”
Saying that, she reached out to take the drumstick from Celebi’s hands—only for Celebi to swiftly dodge her.
The little Pokémon eyed Nicole with deep suspicion.
'Is this woman trying to steal my chicken?!'
'I saved your grandfather, and this is how you repay me?'
Duke: 'So I actually have two saviors?'
Julian chuckled when he saw Nicole get completely ignored by Celebi. “If you have nothing else to say, you can leave now.”
“Celebi doesn’t like you.”
Coming in and trying to take its food—of course Celebi wouldn’t like her.
If she had brought some milk tea instead, she might have earned a little goodwill.
Nicole stared at Celebi in confusion, she was clearly looking out for its well-being, so why did it seem so unhappy?
