In the afternoon, Duke posted a video. In the footage, he looked full of energy, his complexion clear and healthy, the video completely shattered the rumors.
"Duke: I heard some people say I was already dead."
Online discussions erupted immediately.
> "Does anyone else think Champion Duke looks younger?"
> "I noticed it too! I thought I was imagining things."
> "He dyed his hair black, of course he looks younger."
In reality, he had indeed grown younger, thanks to Celebi. Not only did it cure his poisoning, but it also made his body healthier.
In a way, he had turned misfortune into a blessing.
John Walker was a few years younger than him, but now, standing side by side, it looked as if John was the older one.
This left John feeling rather frustrated, but knowing it was thanks to his grandson’s efforts, he couldn’t help but feel proud instead.
After all, Celebi was always by his grandson’s side—who knew if he might get a chance to regain some youth too?
Around 3 p.m., Julian arrived at Parkway Hospital again, walking into Duke’s hospital room alongside John.
Duke’s body had fully recovered, but since he had been poisoned so severely, he still needed a deep medical evaluation before he could be discharged.
“Julian, I really have to thank you and Celebi this time.”
Duke looked at Julian with genuine gratitude. He was not afraid of death, but if he had fallen, then Drakoria’s champion count and overall strength would have dropped below that of Celestria.
Once that kind of disadvantage appeared, it would only grow worse if not properly handled. If things spiraled out of control, Celestria could completely surpass Drakoria.
So, in a way, Julian saving Duke wasn’t just a personal favor—it was a contribution to the entire country.
“It’s all thanks to Celebi’.”
Julian said casually, he didn’t think the credit belonged to him, Celebi was the one who had healed Duke, so the merit was naturally Celebi’s.
Duke looked at Celebi who was sitting on Julian’s shoulder, swinging its little legs. As a veteran trainer, Duke had, of course, seen Celebi before, he had also encountered many Mythical and Legendary Pokémon—even First-Class Legendaries.
But without exception, all of those Pokémon were deeply wary of humans, rarely approaching them willingly. Some even harbored outright hostility toward people.
It was his first time seeing a Celebi so openly attached to a human like this.
The reason Celebi was so close to Julian was largely due to his strong Aura powers. Moreover, this Celebi itself was a bit of an oddball among its kind.
Otherwise, a normal Celebi wouldn’t have stuck around just because of some fried chicken and fries, even if it thought Julian was a good person.
“Celebi, thank you, if you and Julian ever need anything, you can always come to me.”
Sitting on Julian’s shoulder, Celebi gave a proud little nod.
Julian: 'Don't just talk, how about some actual benefits?'
Nicole looked at Celebi with a somewhat strange expression.
The image of Celebi munching on fried chicken at the hotel had completely shattered its mystique in her mind.
This was an extremely undisciplined Mythical Pokémon with some seriously bad habits.
“Old man, if you really want to thank my grandson, then give something practical,” John said, clearly dissatisfied.
They had saved his life—what use were mere verbal thanks and promises?
Julian secretly gave his grandfather a thumbs-up, that's the way to go.
Duke laughed and scolded, “Do you think I’m as stingy as you?”
Then he pointed to a Pokémon egg resting by his bedside. “I know your second type is Dragon, this is a Bagon egg.”
Julian used his Probing Eyes to take a look at the egg.
'Wow'—it was a Blue-grade Bagon egg!
As the strongest champion of Drakoria, Duke naturally had to offer something valuable to his lifesaver. Fortunately, he happened to have a high-quality Bagon egg on hand.
“And this is my thank-you gift to Celebi.”
Of course, since he gave something to Julian, he couldn’t forget Celebi.
Duke took out a transparent crystal necklace.
“Energy Crystal?” Julian said in surprise.
Celebi: "Can this be eaten?"
“It can increase your strength.”
Energy Crystals contained large amounts of neutral energy, making them suitable for Pokémon of all types to absorb, and had no side effects.
They were the best items for helping Pokémon break through power bottlenecks.
But Energy Crystals were extremely rare. In fact, this was the first time Julian had ever seen one.
As soon as Celebi heard it couldn’t be eaten, it immediately lost interest.
Julian had completely spoiled this little guy.
Taking the Energy Crystal necklace, Julian directly placed it around Celebi’s neck. It fit perfectly, and with it on, Celebi looked even cuter.
Since this was meant for Celebi, even if it wasn’t interested, Julian wasn’t going to give it to any of his other Pokémon.
Besides, if Celebi’s strength increased, that was beneficial for him too.
“Well, I guess this will do.”
John said reluctantly after seeing Duke offer the two gifts.
Duke, clearly didn't want to talk to John. Just looking at John was enough to irritate him. If the man wasn’t so strong, his mouth alone would’ve gotten him killed long ago.
“Nico, you and Julian step outside for a bit,” Duke said.
Once the two younger ones left, only John and Duke remained in the hospital room.
“What do you plan to do about this?” John asked.
“Once I’m discharged, the two of us are taking a trip to Babath.”
Duke’s eyes gleamed with a cold light, he had nearly been killed by that champion from Babath—how could he not take revenge?
John grinned: “Maybe he’s already gone crying to his daddy for help.”
“But it doesn’t matter, even if this turns into a big incident, they won’t be able to justify themselves.”
A champion was the foundation of a nation. The strength and number of champions directly determined a country’s standing on the global stage.
That’s why every nation took great care of their own champions.
If a champion died in a fair and open battle, then there was no one to blame but themselves.
But if someone used underhanded tricks? Then they shouldn’t be surprised when payback came knocking.
Such methods weren’t necessarily bad—as long as they worked, they were good tactics.
But since they had failed, Babath would have to face the consequences. Both Duke and Drakoria would make them pay.
“As for Celebi, some people already know about it. There will definitely be those who set their sights on your grandson. I’ll arrange for people to protect him in secret, but you should remind Julian, too.”
“Tell him not to go into the wild or any secret realms for now, it’s best if he stays in university.”
Celebi had the power to travel through time, any trainer would be tempted by such an ability.
“I know, foreigners are one thing, but if anyone from our own country dares to lay a finger on my grandson, I’ll make sure they don’t even leave a corpse behind.”
John’s smile turned icy.
Julian was his dear grandson, and with his exceptional talent, he would one day lead the Walker family into an era unlike anything seen before.
From every perspective, John would never allow anyone to harm him.
