Chapter 301: Chapter 301: The Terrifying Great Formation of Ten Thousand Immortals (4th Update, More Tomorrow)

In the eyes of the Jade Emperor, Sun Wukong would surely not ignore the attack of the God Beating Whip; as long as he turned to parry or dodge, he would be intercepted, ensuring the safety of the Heavenly Secrets Instrument, but unexpectedly, Wukong, as if he hadn’t even noticed, kept striking fiercely with thirty-six rod shadows right on the Heavenly Secrets Instrument without looking back.

A series of booming sounds rang out, dazzling firelight burst forth from the Heavenly Secrets Instrument and dense cracks appeared upon it. This instrument, which could monitor and control the fates of all beings in the Three Realms and the Six Paths, was smashed to pieces under the overwhelming strike of Sun Wukong’s staff, turning into fragments amidst the blaze.

The God Beating Whip struck Sun Wukong’s head hard, causing him to stumble and tumble from mid-air; however, just before hitting the ground, Wukong somersaulted, steadied himself on one hand, and landed firmly on the ground, grimacing as he rubbed the back of his head, which seemed to have taken quite the blow, but he apparently hadn’t been injured at all.

“What was that that hit your old grandson?”

Sun Wukong certainly knew that the Jade Emperor had used a magical treasure to hit him, but he also knew that once he stopped to defend or dodge, he would lose the chance to destroy the Heavenly Secrets Instrument, so he forcefully endured the stick of the God Beating Whip. He had thought that his Chaotic Divine Body would surely not be harmed, but he didn’t expect the destructive power of the God Beating Whip to be so strong that it made his whole body feel groggy, nearly causing him to fall to the ground from the sky, and his head was still a bit dizzy.

“This monkey is actually unharmed?!”

Wukong was inwardly amazed, but the Jade Emperor was even more shocked and fearful, his wariness and killing intent towards Wukong growing stronger. With more and more deities having their divinity recorded in the Investiture of the Gods, the power of the Investiture and the God Beating Whip continually increased. With the God Beating Whip’s current destructive force, not to mention a mere Half-Step Quasi-Saint, even a Quasi-Saint would struggle to walk away from such a blow. If Wukong, having been hit in the back of the head, had not died, he would at least have been bleeding profusely; yet, there he was seemingly unscathed with only a slight dizziness. The God Beating Whip flew back to the Jade Emperor’s hand, and a throng of Immortals and Gods also began to pour into the secret chamber through the entrance gate, just in time to witness the scene of the Heavenly Secrets Instrument’s fragments falling like rain. They were all secretly delighted, for without the suppression of the Heavenly Secrets Instrument, the shackles on the gods and divine generals of the Heavenly Court were undoubtedly lightened, and the Immortals no longer had any restrictions. From now on, the Heavenly Court would no longer be able to easily locate them!

This Great Sage Equalling Heaven, Sun Wukong, had truly done a wonderful deed that delighted everyone!

“Jade Emperor, you sure got here pretty quickly!”

“Sun Wukong, you have some nerve, daring to destroy the Heavenly Secrets Instrument!”

The Jade Emperor’s eyes burst with cold sharpness, staring intently at Sun Wukong, wishing he could tear him apart limb from limb. If looks could kill, Sun Wukong might have already died countless times over.

“Your old grandson’s courage has always been great, Jade Emperor, are you only realizing this today?”

Sun Wukong sneered contemptuously, not taking the Jade Emperor’s scolding to heart, “Such a harmful thing should of course be destroyed. Should your old grandson keep it for you to continue harming others? Your old grandson said he would turn your Heavenly Court upside down—did you think your old grandson was joking? More Immortals and Gods kept streaming into the secret chamber; there were easily over a thousand, standing imposingly opposite Sun Wukong with many more outside the secret chamber. Due to flying restrictions on the Boundary Bridge, they could only walk over the bridge surface and through the chamber door to enter. Wukong scanned with his eyes and noticed that Donghua Emperor was not among them, nor were three of the other five great emperors, and he thus felt relieved.

In all of Heavenly Court, aside from the Three Purities, the only ones who could make Sun Wukong feel apprehensive were the other four great emperors, especially the East Emperor Donghua, who was the strongest among the Half-Step Saints. Sun Wukong admitted there was a significant gap between them, and if Donghua were to join the encirclement, escaping unscathed would be difficult.

Fortunately, the East Emperor had not appeared, and neither had the other three great emperors, which brought a measure of relief to Sun Wukong’s heart. However, upon reflection, this made sense. The matter of the Heavenly Secrets Instrument was intentionally revealed to him by Donghua himself, intending to use Wukong as a pawn to destroy it. How could he then join with the Jade Emperor to besiege him?

Spiritual energy from all directions converged, taking on countless human forms—all divine generals and deities from the list, yet their facial features were blurred, indistinguishable.

Sun Wukong’s expression turned solemn. He sensed an immense pressure brewing. What was the Jade Emperor trying to do? Was he going to reveal the depths of Heavenly Court’s strengths?

The might of Heavenly Court is not as simple as you see; if its hidden depths were to be exposed, it would be terrifying!

The words of East Emperor Donghua flashed through Sun Wukong’s mind. At the time, although Wukong found it odd, he didn’t take it seriously. But looking at the current situation, it seemed Donghua was not exaggerating. The overwhelming pressure that was building made Sun Wukong feel uneasy.

“It’s the Myriad Immortal Formation! His Majesty the Jade Emperor is going to use the Myriad Immortal Formation!”

“The Myriad Immortal Formation, the most powerful formation, is the foundation of Heavenly Court. For the Jade Emperor to deal with the Great Sage Equaling Heaven, he’s actually employing the Court’s last resort!”

Many among the gathered immortals and gods recognized the formation before it was even complete, each murmuring in surprise.

The Myriad Immortal Formation was created by the Leader of Tongtian, originally used to counter the Four Great Saints during the Divine Enthronement. The formation used its main operator as the Formation Eye, through which ten thousand immortals could channel their collective strength into a devastating attack. The destructive power was such that no foe could withstand it. During the Divine Enthronement war, the Leader of Tongtian himself was the Formation Eye, and ten thousand Jie Sect immortals jointly unleashed its full potential. Even the collective efforts of the Four Great Saints couldn’t break it.

However, this formation had one major flaw: the sheer number of constituents made it difficult to control. At the time of Divine Enthronement, the Myriad Immortal Formation was still a new invention by the Leader of Tongtian with many imperfections, preventing perfect control over the collective power of the resolve disciples. Additionally, many Jie Sect disciples were turned by the Chan Sect. When the grand formation was activated, they turned their backs and attacked their own, ultimately leading to the defeat of the formation and near-total casualties of the Jie Sect disciples.

After the war of Divine Enthronement, the Leader of Tongtian moved the Greenwave Palace from Jin’ao Island to the higher realms. The Myriad Immortal Formation faded into history, never to appear again. Only a few truly knowledgeable ones within Heavenly Court knew that Hong Jun Daoist Ancestor had refined the Leader’s creation, imparting the refined Myriad Immortal Formation, along with the Investiture of the Gods and the God-Beating Whip, to Jade Emperor Hao Tian. The Jade Emperor could use the Divinity stored within the Investiture of the Gods to conjure Immortal Bodies, quickly forming ten thousand immortals to launch the Myriad Immortal Formation.

Of course, using the Divinity in the Investiture of the Gods to create Immortal Bodies was extremely taxing on it, and even the Jade Emperor could not bear such a burden. Therefore, the key components of the formation needed to be formed by real immortals and gods. Those beams of divine light were used by the Jade Emperor to control the multitude of deities. These deities, now imbued with divine light, must obey the Jade Emperor’s command to form the formation or risk being detonated by the Jade Emperor, resulting in severe injury or death.

Essentially, Hong Jun Daoist Ancestor’s refinement of the Myriad Immortal Formation had eliminated the original formation’s hidden dangers and flaws. Aside from a reduced power, there was no longer any risk of betrayal leading to a break in the formation. This was one of Heavenly Court’s two major trump cards, seldom used. In a blur, Sun Wukong used the Divine Skill “Shrinking Earth into Inches” and dashed towards the secret chamber’s exit.
