Chapter 136: Chapter 137: Going to Yama Hall to Find Your Wife

Shao He, seeing the silent person, pushed him away and continued, “When I said that the person who saved you was me, does the Marquis remember what you said at that time?”

“You said it was impossible, that a person as scheming as I couldn’t possibly be your lifesaver. You also said I bullied Luo Jiner because of my status and that I wanted to steal the credit for Luo Jiner’s saving you to blackmail you.”

Chu Yu was left speechless, looking up at Shao He with immense pain and staggered forward a step, “I know everything was my fault in the past, mistaking my savior for my enemy, being ungrateful, not cherishing you, it’s all my fault.”

“Can we start over, please? I will make it up to you and our child, just give me one more chance, okay?”

Shao He looked at his pained expression and felt not the slightest bit of compassion; she had no respect for someone like Chu Yu.

Chu Yu thought she was still angry and spoke to please her, “If you’re still not satisfied, we can take harsh revenge on Luo Jiner, make her life worse than death.”

...

“You really are heartless and ungrateful. You used to treat her with so much care, and now you are completely merciless.” Shao He

said mockingly, as she certainly hadn’t forgotten how this man had treated her and her child.

Back then, the original owner of this body had been like a fool, giving her all to Chu Yu, only to be repaid like this – there would be no forgiveness on behalf of the original owner, not possible, never!

Chu Yu’s eyes flashed with panic, and he quickly explained, “I thought she was my lifesaver and that’s why I was with her, rest assured that from now on, there won’t be any involvement between her and me.”

Shao He’s gaze turned slightly cold. Before she could speak again, Chu Yu came out from the adjacent courtyard, coldly saying, “Does the Marquis not sleep at night and instead come here to cause trouble?”

Chu Yu knew Pei Huaian’s intentions and was extremely displeased. He stood beside Shao He and said, “This is a matter between my wife and me, I’d ask Young Master Pei to not meddle in others’ business.”

Pei Huaian’s face darkened, and anger flashed in his deep, dark eyes. Grinding his teeth, he said, “Wife? Could it be that the Marquis has forgotten, your wife has long been buried in the ground. You should be in Yama Hall, looking for your Lady Marquess of Pingnan.”

On hearing this, a smile hung on the corner of Shao He’s mouth. She had not expected Pei Huaian to be so verbally venomous, but his words were not wrong.

Chu Yu explained again, “It’s all a misunderstanding; once I apologize to Shao He and we clear up the misunderstanding, we will get back together, and she will once again be the Lady of Marquis Pingnan’s Mansion.”

Shao He’s mouth twitched in disbelief, her gaze on Chu Yu filled with loathing; she couldn’t comprehend how he had the audacity to say such words, as if an apology from him would warrant her forgiveness.

“Get lost, don’t disturb the peace here,” Shao He said bluntly.

Chu Yu’s expression turned displeased, but there was no way he would just leave like this, his face filled with tenderness, “I promise not to do anything else; I just want to see you and the child, to be with you quietly.”

Shao He laughed coldly and purposely said, “Watch us do what? See how we’re picked apart by vultures on the Mass Burial Mound, or how we die?”

“No, that’s not…”

“Not what? The child and Shao He of the past have long been dead. We have no relationship; don’t delude yourself into thinking you can be forgiven, because I will never forgive you. You don’t deserve it.” Shao He said each word with cold emphasis, as if each were laced with venom.

On hearing this, Chu Yu’s body swayed, and his complexion turned pale, “No. It’s not like that; all I did was because Luo Jiner sowed discord.”

Full of hatred, Shao He looked at him and mocked, “Don’t you have a brain of your own? You believe whatever anybody says, so why didn’t you believe anything I said? In the end, the only thing you loved was the phrase ‘lifesaver.’

Chu Yu clenched his fists until his fingernails dug into his palms, forcefully suppressing the rage within, trying to speak with a gentle voice, “Shao He, have you really forgotten how much you once loved me?”

“Shut up.” Shao He couldn’t take it anymore and scolded furiously, “The most foolish thing I ever did was loving you!”

Upon hearing this, Chu Yu’s face became even paler, as he had never felt the world to be so cold.

Shao He continued with scorn, “You’re the one who squandered my devotion. You never appreciated it, leaving me to suffer in the mansion, insulted daily by you and Luo Jiner!”

Chu Yu opened his mouth, only to find he had no response.

“Ha! Who do you think you are, daring to act but not to own up to it? By throwing me and the child out to the Mass Burial Mound, you should’ve foreseen this outcome. Weren’t you always so lucid? Now, why play pitiful?” Shao He looked at Chu Yu with disdain, her gaze filled with revulsion.

Chu Yu wanted to step forward and grab her hand in explanation but was blocked by Pei Huaian, “Doctor Shao does not wish to reunite with you, has the Marquis not yet understood that?”

“Marquis, you better control your own affairs. There’s no need for you to worry about the matters between my wife and me!” Chu Yu glared at the person before him and spoke ominously.

Pei Huaian scoffed, “Husband and wife? Maybe the Marquis should refrain from making such baseless claims, lest some words reach The Emperor’s ears and you find them hard to explain.”
