Chapter 30: Chapter 31 No Need to Splurge Like This Anymore

Pei Huaian’s heart was very discontent, and the aura around him became chillingly cold.

Yan Ze felt the temperature inside the room drop, and as he was about to ask the person radiating coldness, he saw him abruptly turn his head.

“I have something else to attend to, I’ll leave first.”

Leaving behind these words, Pei Huaian wheeled himself away.

Ah Mo was waiting outside, and upon seeing him emerge, went up to him and pushed the wheelchair away from the tea house.

“Go buy some baby products, the expensive ones, better ones, get a full set.”

Ah Mo didn’t understand his master’s intent, but still carried out the orders. His master’s unusual behavior wasn’t a first; he had gradually become accustomed to it.

Ah Mo ran to many shops, buying everything from baby food to clothes, toys, and fabrics.

“Master, is this enough?” Ah Mo truly had no more hands to spare.

“Hmm,” Pei Huaian nodded in satisfaction.

Shao He finished her medical consultations and felt a soreness in her neck after the busy flurry. She massaged her neck, rotating it a few times, and was just about to sit down for a drink of water when she suddenly heard a knock on the door.

She set down the tea cup, walked over, and opened the door, where Ah Mo stood with a huge pile of items, even blocking his line of sight.

Pei Huaian wheeled over, gesturing for Ah Mo to place the items inside the room.

“What’s all this…?”

“I feel a connection with the child, an instant fondness. I especially like him. This is a small token of my appreciation.” Pei Huaian felt that even these things were somewhat insufficient, and had it not been for the fear of appearing too ostentatious, he would have surely had Ah Mo buy even more.

Children grow quickly; it’s best to buy more and have it on hand.

Shao He’s mouth twitched slightly as she looked at the pile of various baby products and luxurious fabrics before her, a dazzle to the eyes.Upd@te by n0vgo .c0

“Actually, you needn’t go to this extent. I will heal your wound to the best of my ability,” Shao He felt that his doing all this was simply to get her to heal his leg as quickly as possible.

Pei Huaian noticed her misunderstanding and defended himself, “I just feel a kinship with the child, nothing more.”

With a helpless shrug, Shao He’s gaze landed on a box amid the many gifts. She walked over, dug the box out from the myriad of items, and then picked it up and opened it.

A stunningly translucent Jade Hairpin lay before her, its quality and craftsmanship nothing short of perfection.

Shao He stared at the Jade Hairpin, her gaze flickering incessantly, clearly aware that this hairpin was no cheap item.

Pei Huaian didn’t dare meet Shao He’s eyes, fearful of his inner thoughts being seen through. He lowered his gaze to hide the unusual color at the bottom of his eyes.

Shao He picked up the hairpin inside the box and shook it slightly, a faint smile curling at the corner of her mouth, “Is this also for the child?”

From any perspective, the hairpin was something the child likely couldn’t use.

At the time, Pei Huaian had merely thought the Jade Hairpin was extremely beautiful, and would look even more beautiful if worn by Shao He. Thus, on a whim, he purchased it.

Thinking to offer it as a gift along with the other presents, he didn’t expect it to be singled out.

“This is for the child’s mother,” Pei Huaian said in a deep voice.

The surprise in Shao He’s eyes was more than apparent. After a moment of astonishment, she came back to her senses, intending to decline the gift, but Pei Huaian stopped her.

A smile deepened at the corner of Pei Huaian’s mouth as he explained, “It’s not something very expensive. Since it’s already purchased, please accept it.” @@novelbin@@

Shao He closed the box, her fingers gently caressing the engraved patterns on it, well aware of the hairpin’s significant value.

“Thank you, but you really shouldn’t go to such expense in the future.” Shao He truly didn’t want to owe too much to someone; after all, in this world, the most difficult debt to repay is the debt of gratitude.
